I'm so full I can't walk to my car. I normally take a star away for bad parking (which is the case) but the food was so good and the service was friendly and quick. The hubby and I decided to have breakfast here after reading all of the response from yelp after we came back from fishing. I do have to say this place is somewhat disappointing after reading all the reviews. The servers were very friendly and quick in taking our orders. I gave it a three star rating because they mixed up our potatoes, my husband scrambled eggs were cold and the cheese was almost hardened, and the steak I ordered was for medium rare but I got a medium well instead. In regards to the generous portion, I barely got any gravy on my biscuit. We have been to many other diners and they were very generous with the gravy and to my understanding that's the least costly of the items on the plate. I've been to Farmers Den a dozen times or so in the past and always enjoyed it. This morning I decided to go with my family and we were terribly disappointed. It was busy, so I don't expect super fast service, but after we were seated and got our coffee we were forgotten about. We waited for 15 minutes as we watched our waitress stand at the next table picking food off of her friends plate. We never even got a menu! I was quite disappointed, so I walked to the counter to settle up for the coffee. The gal behind the counter was very apologetic, but after we walked out I realized that I had paid $11.94 for 2 cups of coffee and a hot cocoa. I'm not sure what happened today, but I was let down repeatedly at every step of the way. I'm sure I'll go back, but I'm at Perkos down the street now so it won't be any time soon. read more

Live in Patterson. This is the place to go for breakfast. It beats anything in Patterson. Food is good it's only 10 minutes to get there. You will see all walks of life there, not just farmers. It draws people from Patterson, Turlock, and Modesto. Well here is an update. Still the best breakfast around. Great food, service, and only a short drive from Patterson. read more

We have been coming here for many many years and it saddens me to write this review. Ownership has recently changed which resulted in lower quality of food, smaller portions, and a ridiculously high increase in prices. I understand inflation but there is no way breakfast should cost $18-20 per person. We drive quite a ways to eat here and sadly it's not worth the price or time anymore. We can go to closer breakfast joints such as AJs Cafe or Garden Café and pay less for higher quality food. Farmers Den used to be about the old way of life which was inclusive of good old fashioned service, food, and prices for farmers and ranchers. Now it's all about maximizing profit. read more

We have been here before but it's been a long time. First, they need to update the menu on this site. The prices have increased. A lot. But our experience this time was just ok. The waitresses were great! I ordered the California Omelette and the menu says Bacon, Avocado and Jack cheese. When it came it was filled with Mushrooms. And the egg part was Not fluffy at all. Really flat. If I had known it had Mushrooms I would have ordered something else. I'm not one to ask the cook to do anything special. I go off what the menu says. And I don't do Mushrooms! I ordered Pancakes how simple could it be? got three the one in the middle was burnt. I guess the cook did not think I would notice hide under and between the other two pancakes. home fried potato's not cooked well at all. This place has recently changed owners and Its obvious. I have always loved coming here it has been my favorite place for years. I went on a Tuesday I had the worst service by a waitress who was supposedly the manager. RUDE! didn't even acknowledge me for 20 minutes while I watched her chatting and laughing in the kitchen. Very unprofessional and not friendly. Sooo disappointed I've never had this kind of bad service/experience here before. I will stick to only going on the weekends, ask for Maria. I know of the owner and daughter. Always nice and respectful, but today I went and the old lady in Jorts they had working was extremely rude. And it wasn't just to us. As I was watching her with other tables she was extremely rude to them as well. One elderly couple came in with their masks (which I completely disagree with masks) but who cares if people want to wear them. She asked them what they wanted to drink and she goes "I can't hear you with that thing on your face." Extremely rudely to OLD people. She was not nice to every table that walked in and even when she came to take our order she just stood in front of the table and didn't say a word, I finally said "hi." And she finally said "can I take your order" I am in the service industry and serve tables, I am a big supporter of farmers den as well. However my experience this morning really pushes me away. Have heard rave reviews from locals, so since we go by here every time we go to town we stopped to give it a try. Waitresses are very friendly and food was great. You can take your own seat. It is a country setting and country food. Not elaborate looking but country. I loved the food and the place itself. We stop by here every now and then when we go to town. I have lived in Patterson for over 10 years and have passed by the Farmers Den thousands of times. I love a good breakfast restaurant, not only the most important meal of the day, but very hard to find a good one. The wife and I have been here twice now and have enjoyed both experiences. I never really knew much about the restaurant from the outside. When you walk in it has a nice atmosphere to it. It can get a little busy on the weekends but I've never had to wait for a table. You can definitely get a feel for a lot of usual weekly customers. Everyone just seems to know everyone there. It's definitely a good vibe. The place is very clean and the service is very good. We have had the same waitress each visit and she is definitely on top of things even though she has a lot of tables. The food comes out reasonably fast and the coffee is being topped off by any waitress that happens to notice an empty or low cup. For both visits I've ordered omelettes although I would like to try the chicken fried steak next. I've had a Denver omelette and an all meat omelette. Both are very good but I liked the all meat omelette just a bit more. You get a choice of hash browns or country potatoes and any type of toast. I went with the hash browns, which are good but my wife loved the potatoes. The portions are large so come with an appetite. Highly recommended!!! read more

6 people, 6 hearty breakfasts, coffee, sodas... out the door with tax for 60 bucks. Umm. that's.. AMAZING in my book. Everything was tasty. I had the chicken fried steak. It's so soft, you can cut it with your fork. Portions aren't grossly big but nice and hearty. I came out full (just a little too full) Biscuits and gravy were awesome. The biscuit was fluffy and moist and oh so delish. Meat lovers omelet was damn good, too. Country potatoes were cooked through and well seasoned. Hashbrowns were well cooked. Nothing was soggy or over crispy. It's been a long.... long time since I've had a really good breakfast (unless my 2nd mom makes it for me!!!) I'll have to remember to come out here again next time I visit Patterson. I don't know much about their lunch/dinner but I'm thoroughly impressed with breakfast... yum! read more

This is a great little place for breakfast. Basic country home cooked meals that are totally affordable. Most breakfasts come with the essentials like home fries, biscuits or toast and eggs. So far our favorite is the pork chop breakfast. Super delish! Nice thin pork chop with just the right amount of seasoning, and of course a biscuit and gravy on the side! Pancakes are thick and flavorful, and the omelets aren't too bad either. If you get there early enough, you'll be eating side by side with some of our local farmers and ag workers. read more

Three words describe my first visit to the farmers den. Excellent, excellent and excellent. The food was great and a lot of it, still hot when it reached my table. The place was clean, the wait staff was quick, friendly and outgoing. I eat out at least twice a week and after living in the area for four years this is the best dinner I've eaten. Even the other patrons were friendly, go figure. I will be eating here again and again. I wish they posted the hours they are open since they only serve dinner once a week. Having heard rave reviews about this place, I finally had a chance to eat here for their highly anticipated dinner service which is only available one night a week. Unfortunately, for me personally, the hype was all in false hope but apparently not for the locals. Pickup orders were constantly being phoned to a point where they ran out of steaks. However, as i said unfortunately for me, I did not share the same experience. The $20 ribeye was huge but after trimming out all the fatty part, the once king sized steak became a petite princess. Although the steak was cooked perfectly, I was somewhat disappointed about the price I paid for the princess cut. The service there was excellent and really did a great job in representing the establishment as family owned and operated. A bonus for the eyes were all the waitresses there (or the farmer's daughters as I like to fantasize them as). Not only were they eye candies but they were also plrasant to talk to. Extra kudos for the friendliness of all the staff there and their attentiveness even during peak hour. So I heard, I came, and I ate. In conclusion, the farmers den would be a recommendation I would make to a friend just for the experience in how it may feel like eating at a local hotspot in mid America. Love these small places. Just happened upon this place this morning. You can taste the love in all of the food. We had chicken fried steak and gravy, linguica and egg scramble, with both hashbowns and country potatoes. It was all outstanding, and I can't say enough about the biscuits!
