I liked this place. I've been there twice and the food is so good and the service was very good both times. HOWEVER it is also quite expensive. A friend and I went for lunch, we ordered no alcoholic beverages and to my recollection we didn't order anything so outlandish that our LUNCH bill should have been $100, but that is what the bill came to. I honestly, don't think i have ever spent $100 on a lunch for just two people and btw, I moved here from NYC two years ago. So, bottom line, the food is really good and if you have the inclination to spend $100 on lunch, i say go for it. However, if that's a bit rich for you, there are MANY other less expensive options. Wonderful food, we go here most times we visit Springfield - it would be every time if they were open on Sundays. Classic fish and chips is perfect. The tacos are great. The squash dish is a really special and healthy choice. Beer selection is expensive and frequently rotates. They were very accommodating with allowing dogs on the their cute patio deck, even brought out a bowl of fresh water for her. It says pub in the name, and the dining room is nicely decorated to look pub-like, but don't be fooled. This is a farm to table restaurant with and amazing kitchen. I am going out on a limb after only one experience, but sometimes the taste and skill evident in a dish or two tells you all you need to know about having faith and confidence in a kitchen. These guys win. The dishes I had didn't correspond to my mental expectations of them, but they greatly exceeded my expectations in taste and flavor. I'm not even going to tell you what I ordered. Beer is good... nice and cold, good selection. As for food; Asian Spicy Pork Noodle Bowl was trash. Spaghetti noodles with some Bok Choi, ground pork with some sesame hot chili oil was a bad attempt to expand the menu to include something unique. What was worse was the fish and chips (so sad, since the place is pub theme), the batter fish was bland; no flavor, a little salt would have been nice in the batter. But the fries had plenty of flavor, fishy fries. Did I say the beer was good? Go drink here, pass on food. read more

My Fiance and I had a meal at Farmer's Gastropub today, I am not sure that the experience lives up to the hype some others have portrayed. We ordered corn ribs, a scotch egg, pan seared cod and the fish and chips/fries. The pan seared cod had a great taste and was cooked perfectly but was a bit on the salty side. The mashed potatoes were a bit dense and lacking somewhat in flavor but decent. The scotch egg was one of the better items and had a nice bit of runny yolk. The corn ribs I had never had before they were pretty good, I enjoyed the accompanying sauce. I often order fish and chips from many different restaurants and I would have to say it was not the best. The fish was overly battered and a bit overdone. I actually ended up chipping away at the batter and just eating the fish out of the middle. The fish in the middle was great. The fries were not very crispy and heavily saturated with oil. The fries were extremely over salted. The mushy peas were lovely. Most items were either overly salty or lacking in balanced seasoning or flavor. Overall, the service was good the staff were prompt and attentive. Overall, I would give 3.5 stars. read more

Three adults at my table and all of us were unhappy with the food and service. One burger was ordered well done but was bloody. The fish ,from the fish n chips, had no flavor. The batter had NO FLAVOR! The fish was also chewy and hard to swallow. $13 for the small order, $18 for large. When the waiter found out the burger wasn't cooked as ordered, they were willing to take it and try again. It's lunch and we didn't have time. No other solutions were offered. My friend later said "I didn't want it made again because it wouldn't make it taste any better". If they were charging (significantly) less then it'd be a two star. read more

Nice British pub towards the heart of Springfield. I was pleased with the wide variety of beers on tap and extensive food selection. A little disappointed by the price and quantity of food. $6 for a stout pint, $8 for a naan mushroom flatbread, and another $9 for a bowl of soup. Their soup of the day was savory, and I would definitely get that again! I thought the mushroom flatbread was bland- it lacked both flavor and filing. Overall, it's a neat environment. There is plenty of parking, nice decor, and the staff was friendly. I may stop by here again because it is so close to the hotel I'm staying at, but I'll definitely want to try some different food options. read more
