I brought Fast Cars my 1961 Maserati 3500 GT that had a broken clutch. I chose Fast Cars because they have all the facilities to repair older European cars under one roof! (The only thing they lack is a foundry.) They were incredibly thorough in analyzing and identifying that the clutch problem was with the clutch through-out bearing mechanism. They rebuilt it as needed, and also replace the clutch slave cylinder all at reasonable cost. I cannot recommend them high enough. read more

Also known as Tillack, this repair/restoration shop has a reputation for being top notch, and known for their restorations that show up at Pebble Beach and other major Concours car shows. The service manager Craig was always very helpful during the major service on my classic Ferrari, a rare 1976 308 GTB. The car had been sitting in a collection for 20 years, so it required a careful complete service to make it safe to start and drive. They treated the car with care, it picked up no new scratches, and was kept clean, and the engine looked like it was detailed. They also give you a CD of pictures taken of the car and engine during the service, so you can see what things look like inside. Since I had trouble finding time to go out to Redondo to pick up the car, they had a flat bed tow truck bring it out to my office. The only problem was that the tow truck driver made the carpets dirty with his dirty shoes. Fast Cars Ltd is not cheap though. The major service was about $2500 more than the original estimate (about 50% more, due to additional items needing attention). But I know that everything was done correctly, which is important for your valued collector car. The car now runs reliably, like it was brand new. If cost is no object, then you can't go wrong here. read more

I brought my 99 355 in for a complete service in Aug 2011. Craig is very professional and the facility is impressive. They can do engine work, body work and restoration. My car was purchased from a collector and was sitting idle for a long time. I felt Fast Cars did a very through job of inspecting my car and informing me of my different options. Also even though my car was the "cheapest" car there they treated me as if it was a priceless gem. Ferrari's can be a pain to maintain but an absolute pleasure to drive. When you go to Fast Cars you're basically going to a museum. I took my 355 there for a full major plus valve guides and Craig quoted me a very competitive price. I already knew the quality would be top notch wasn't worried about that. I went there twice during the process to drop off some stuff and he was kind enough to give me the full tour twice (once by myself and again when I brought my dad). They're very busy so for him to do that twice speaks volumes, especially for a lowly 355 owner when they have multi-million dollar cars there. read more

While these guys work on many different makes/models, they specialize in Ferraris. I recently had the check engine light come on my 2003 360 Modena and the engine was running pretty rough. I've been taking my car on and off to Auto Gallery in Canoga Park for service since I bought it in 2006 from them, but the last two annual services there were less than stellar with repair recommendations that really didn't make much sense for a car that only sees about 2500 miles a year. I know some Ferrari owners that get great service from AG and rave about it, but I had yet to experience it. Add to that emails that went to AG's service manager that went unreturned and I figured it was time to find another place. I found this shop and its great recommendations on Ferrarichat.com and had AAA flat bed my car to their location in Redondo Beach. Craig gave me a tour of the facility and it was pretty clear, they know their cars. Most service shops are just that, service only. On the other hand, Fast Cars not only does service, but they also have a shop for race prep, engine work (with dyno,) restoration shop and a machine shop for parts that may be difficult to get. It was pretty clear that my car was in good hands. The next day, Craig calls me to let me know they diagnosed the problem. After the new ignition coil was ordered and installed, I went to pick the car up. I got to meet Francisco, who was the mechanic that worked on my car and you can tell he really enjoys what he does. They are very professional and the repair was done at a very reasonable price. Instead of being like a "dealer service center," it's pretty clear that they are more interested in actually diagnosing the problem instead of "just throwing parts at it" to try to fix something. I know it may sound a little weird, but I'm almost looking forward to later this year when my car needs its annual service so I can check out their shop again and experience their awesome level of service. Ferrari ownership can sometimes be ruined by the amount and cost of service these cars sometimes require, but knowing there is a shop like Fast Cars nearby makes it much less nerve racking. read more
