I specifically ordered a praline ice cream cake with white cake and a light drizzle of caramel.  I have ordered cakes from this store before and have never had a problem, so I picked it up without inspecting it. When we opened the cake at 8:00 p.m. that evening, we were surprised to see it was heavily covered in caramel and almost solid with chocolate all over it. Since it was the only dessert we had, we served it, but everyone commented that the chocolate and caramel were overpowering. It was not what I had ordered. I returned to the store on Tuesday to explain the issue. The employee working that day told me the cake could be remade and ready for pickup Wednesday afternoon. I understood this to be a replacement for the incorrect cake, at no additional charge. When I went to pick up the replacement cake, I was told it would cost $39.99. I explained that I believed this was a remake due to the original mistake and therefore should not be charged. The employee stated she could not do that. I declined the cake and asked when the owner would be available because I wanted to discuss the matter directly. I was told I was "not a customer" and was asked to leave. When I requested that my name be taken so the owner could contact me, the interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional. In order to do this review I had to give one star.
