Came back after a long time and food is still good. Noticed the prices went up but understandable in this economy, gas is literally over $5. Overall really good still, don't understand why people complain about prices or tips, I noticed it has an option to say "No Tip" what's there to complain just say no, a lot of places do that too. Overall good sandwich shop, love supporting small business. read more

I have been there several times and always recommended them. Went in for a sandwich and don't know if they changed ownership or because I didn't give them a tip (and a rather large amount at their suggestion) When I got home and opened the bag it was almost cold (I am five minutes away) and very very dry. I tried to eat the left over the next day and is now garbage......what happened to them? And I m curious about something.......what makes these stand up or eat in your car fast food establishments get the idea that tossing someone a $20 +/- item entitles them them to $3 or $4 because they handed me a bag? I can't be the only one with this thought.....am I? They are off my list read more

OMG y'all they added a Pastrami Philly to the menu and it is fire!! Run don't walk to try this sandwich we want this added to the menu forever!!! As always the employees are friendly and nice and the restaurant is clean and my babe loves the hot sauce they have on the table - vinegary and just the right amount of heat. Garlic fries are the best in town and eating everything in the restaurant while hot and fresh is the move!! Good vibes every time we come here!! read more

Not too shabby. Definitely on point. Meat was flavorful, bread was toasted and just the right amount of garlic and sweet peppers. Fries weren't soggy with garlic butter. Service was friendly and fast. I think our food came out like within 5 min of ordering. We noticed everyone else's food also came out quickly. The spot looks super OG. They messed up our order, but the lady at the front was super nice. They made up for it by letting us keep the incorrect order and remaking the correct one. 5/8/23 - My brother & I could not decide on what to eat. The place we wanted to pick up food from is closed on Monday's. So, we were in a sandwich kind of mood because tonight is the Warriors-Lakers game and we wanted something good to eat. I thought about this place because he has never had a cheesesteak from here. I was here last week, I always get the same sandwich and I was willing to try something different this time but they did not have any tomatoes or bacon. I ordered the supreme cheesesteak for my brother and I got my usual #6 - Spinach cheesesteak. I got a combo for me because I love their Lipton Ice Tea it is so cold with half a cup of ice. I always have to get a refill. My brother doesn't drink soda, so I got him an order of fries. Our meals were still warm when I reached his home. He was amazed at how well it tasted and was surprised that he got fries. He got a beer to go with his sandwich. We both were full and he only ate half his sandwich, and so did I which was different because I usually eat the whole thing. I only eat one meal a day, so I was somewhat shocked at myself. My appetite has been good lately, I better not talk about it because it can change quickly, which I hate because one minute I am going to make hamburgers and the next I want a hot dog. The cheesesteak Shop is always very clean. I don't remember seeing that cashier before, but she was very friendly, and repeated your order so she got everything correct. My brother asked me for directions to this place. Did not know Stockton had a cheesesteak shop as long as he has been coming down here. But now he is a resident. He enjoyed his sandwich and fries. This awesome food truck/trailer was at Solano Brewing Company in Vacaville this past Saturday. I ordered the Bomb Cheesesteak. As you'd guess it was BOMB!!! Such a good cheesesteak sammy. It paired nicely with the IPA I was drinking. If you ever get a chance to try them do not hesitate. Soo good. I will be watching to see when they come back to SBC. read more

Thank you for coming to the Juneteenth festival in Brentwood. I had my mind made up to get garlic noodles from another truck, but then I saw the Philly cheesesteak truck. I got the number one original Philly cheesesteak and it came with fries. Also got the bacon ranch fries. There were so many flies that I decided to put my food in a cooler and take it home. I ended up warming it in the microwave the next day and it was amazing. It was an authentic Philly cheesesteak. It is worth giving it a try. read more

I'm writing this review at 4:27pm while parked in front of the restaurant. I called this morning when they opened to verify restaurant hours and the person I spoke to said they were open until 6:30pm and assured me they would be there until at least 6:00pm. I get here before 4:30pm and it's closed. They did this last night, too. Yelp said they closed at 8:30pm and Google said they closed at 8:00pm. I called multiple times at 7:15pm to place an order and it just rang a bunch of times. I got to the restaurant at 7:30pm and the doors were locked while they were inside ignoring me. Anyway, this place ruined my family's New Years plans. Now we have to rush to come up with backup plans for our hungry guests. Irresponsible ownership and terrible customer service. Management, if you're reading this, get it together. What a letdown... Smh read more

Can I get some meat with that oil please?! Every single time I come here, I walk out with a hella soggy cheesesteak. Do y'all seriously not know how much oil you should use? The bread is so soggy that the sandwich just splits down the middle and everything falls out! I usually ask for no oil.... But then y'all ignore it and put oil in there anyway. My Son is back from college ( Gone for a year) and we're knocking out places we want to eat one by one. We actually came on another visit prior, but they were closing up. So we decided not to order to go. Note: All orders 30 min before closing time, are to go orders. So this time we made sure arrive earlier. My Son knew what he wanted. A 10 inch Philly cheese Special and onion rings and a drink. I wanted a cheeseburger with Curly Fries and a drink. The damage was around $23 . They do have a soda fountain for refills and have cold tea as well. Inside it's kinda small, probably fits maybe 15-20 people. But it wasn't packed when we dined in. The wait time for us wasn't long at all and the customer service was nice. My name was called and I brought the trays to our table. We took some pictures and enjoyed our meals. The Cheeseburger was good, I added curly fries to make it taste better. My Son enjoyed his Philly Cheese Special and his onion rings. There's sports memorabilia on the wall. Raiders and a Philadelphia Phillies banner. The vibe got us talking about sports and videogames. I came here once and don't see myself ever returning . I don't know what a legit cheese steak is supposed to taste like but if it tastes like something you can easily make at home , then I'm sure it can't be that authentic . The decor screams Philadelphia but why did everything else here scream Filipino ? I literally heard the employees speaking hella loud in Tagalog. The lady who took my order was not friendly and really just wanted to hurry and take my order so that she could go back to talking with her co workers in the back . Once our food came, I thought it was mediocre and something I could make with store bought ingredients . In the middle of my meal , a bunch of teenagers took over the entire dining area and started being hella loud and obnoxious . We purchased 2 large Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches and 2 Onion Rings yesterday... We were so excited... To find... It was the biggest waste... They must have changed their recipe or something... Because it was just awful... Absolutely awful... Did I say it was Awful? I managed to eat most of the awful onion rings... But after a couple bites... The sandwich... And my hard earned money... Pretty upscale market with a nice deli and bakery for this area. I'd say real close to Whole Foods…read morequality and the prices match. But this local indy store has been around in this town for over 55 years, so it is well deserved for them to be a local fave. I only got a sandwich for the road and a bakery item, so no significant grocery shopping. I was traveling back home and didn't have a cooler so I refrained. But next time if I have a cooler, their meat counter will get exercised. Got a Salami Sandwich ($11/4*) from their deli and it was pretty solid. Every sandwich is customized, so every customer fills out a card, checks off your preferences and hand it over to a deli clerk. Nothing out of the ordinary here, just your basic sandwich stuff, but with quality and fresh ingredients. I liked everything in my sandwich, was even to put alfalfa sprouts in it, as I haven't had that option in over a decade. I wished there would have been an option to add oil n vinegar to make it more 'Italian' tasting, so I had to settle on just mayo and mustard, which is more classic American tasting to me. Still a solid sandwich that I was able to eat in 2 intervals so a decent value in my book. Coffee Crunch Cake ($7/3.5*) Very impressive tall cake with a very moist crumb. A little too industrial tasting for me but better than other grocery cakes like Safeway, which taste like plastic to me, so many additives and stabilizers. Cake part had a light chocolate taste, but maybe it was supposed to be more coffee-like? I couldn't taste any coffee except for this super hard and sweet candy on top used for garnish. Indeed that candy offered a 'crunch' element but in a very cloying and awkward way. Sure it was nice and glossy and even resembled shiny coarse stone like obsidian. But to take a bite that big of hard candy to go along a delicate cake was just too extreme for me. I think if that candy were in smaller chunks, more like a crumb texture, it would disperse more sending coffee flavor more evenly and not risk breaking a tooth on that hard sweet candy. I had higher hopes for this. Gawked at their butchers counter and it was pretty darn impressive, Pretty high quality stuff but also insanely expensive. Steaks start at $20 per pound and easily rises double to triple from there. But they got some serious cut steaks here, like 2-3 inch thick cuts and they even have a couple versions of wagyu steaks. Nothing is prewrapped, everything has to go through a clerk. Produce section just meh and regular. Well kept but Safeway may have a more extensive produce section. Dry goods definitely Whole Foods level. They seem to have a guy out front bbqing meats like sausages and tri-tip, like 7 days a week, which is impressive. I got there around 11 am and the employee was just setting up. Otherwise I may have tried something. Cool store, that if this were in my town, I'd be a reg. Since I was just a passing traveler, just call me impressed.

These are cookies they make in house. Today the flavours I purchased was lemon, malted white chocolate and a peppermint shortbread cookie. The price is $19.99/pound for these cookies and I bought roughly 4 to 6 of each of those flavours I mentioned, so I spent $11.51 total, but like I said, I get to indulge when I come to this store and it's no surprise to me when I get to the register. Some times I even surprise myself because I over estimate the prices which makes me happy to feel like I saved a little Today I also purchased three different kinds of cheeses that I was able to find in very small sizes. Literally, I think I paid $1.76 for the smallest one and I paid $3.12 for the bigger one. These are name brands that are expensive. (For my price range anyways) However these are cheeses that I would like to know what they taste like but I don't want to buy the full amount because what if I don't like it, they're too expensive for me to buy and then have to throw away so I'm excited to try the cheeses that I bought today. The last thing that I bought today was a green onion dip mix that I can only find at this store. I used to be able to find it at another store that is close by but for some reason, they stopped selling the green onion flavour and only sell the French onion, which I haven't even tried. I just know that the green onion is amazing and it doesn't matter what brand I try nothing compares to this one so I come to Podesto's to get this dip because thankfully they have carried it for years. It was really busy today, especially in the bakery and deli area, however, the people working today in that area were very friendly and tried to get to everyone as soon as possible. Once I got to the cashier everything went smooth. The long lines were gone and I got out of there without spending more than $40 today which is great. Oh, I forgot about something. I came across a fruit preserve that I did not think would be available at any store because I've only been able to find this online but it tastes amazing and it's low in sugar, which is what I'm always looking for as well. (Let's pretend like I didn't buy all those cookies today please...) Anyways, it's Fior di frutta, wild blueberries. I'm very excited for this. Now I know where to purchase this. I hope you have a successful shopping trip as I have today at Podesto's. There's so much to stumble upon and excite your taste buds!

After finishing, he said someone will get my ordered made. No one ever acknowledged my order. Some staff, kept going to the back, coming up front, looking at each other and laughing. So, since the shake machine is in the back, out of sight, I didn't trust them making it, so I stopped a staff member and asked to cancel my order. He did without an issue, because no one bother to start it. As the on duty manager was refunding me. A staff member came from the back and lowly asked him if it was canceled. He turned and said yes. So maybe, they already cleaned the machine and don't want to use it, not sure. He did offer a free pastry, I had one on my order, but told him no, it was ok. Always make a point to withhold your money, if you aren't treated as a wanted customer. Everything is too high nowadays. And unfortunately, employees think, their bosses pay them, regardless of money coming through the business. Also, after the previous manager, the food quality has gone way down. It's sad to see the place so empty, compared to how it was before. So disappointing!
