Great place to stop when checking out Metropolis and the Superman stuff. My only complaint is that you order food on one side of the room when you walk in and order at the counter, then find a seat and a waitress takes your order from the other side of the room and you have to pay twice. I don't mind ordering food at the counter and picking up the food when the number is called, but really a strange system. We were there for lunch and the food for our group was excellent. The Smashburgers looked wonderful and the feedback was they were as good as they looked. I had a fried cod sandwich, and it was just okay. I wished I had tried either the BBQ or the Smashburger options. Really liked the vibe of the place and would definitely stop again, just feel like they need to figure out the dual-ordering system to make it more user friendly. They offer peel-and-eat shrimp as a specialty and I hope to try that next time as well.

Walk in and order at the counter. Pay for everything but your drinks. They bring the food out to you. The waitress comes around for your drink order and that's on a separate ticket. It was weird, and the waitress was busy so we sat for a long time waiting on drinks after we had our food. We all ordered waters, so I'm not sure why that couldn't have been taken care of at the counter to prevent having to eat without a drink or food getting cold while you waited for the waitress. Food was ok. I had a burger and cheese fries, my son had fish and fries, and my husband had a Philly sandwich with fries. Food was good, but the service was just ok.

This is a unique restaurant you order food and pay for food where you order. When you sit down you order your beverage and you pay at the table for this. The night we went I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and my wife had the California Chicken salad. The salad was fully loaded with a mix of greens and a delicious raspberry vinaigrette. The Philly was grilled fresh on a grill.and was an ample sandwich. We also had an order of Onion Rings which were hot and fresh. One of my favorite aspects of this place are the separate condiment table. All Heinz products mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise. This is my favorite restaurant in Metroplis, Illinois. Ambience is similar to a rustic old fashioned bar and grill. The staff is always great and the food prices are very reasonable.

Cool little bar and hamburger place nice vibe for sure the staff was really friendly and at first I was upset the burgers looked really small but they were super thick and handmade the only thing that I was not happy about was my order of onion rings only had 5 onion rings in it they were really good just hardly any in it for $3.99 extra

Stopped in on Eclipse day for some shrimps! Walk in, pick your choosing and order up. Once you've ordered, have a seat order your drink and wait for your number to be called. Shrimp is amazing.....They did not disappoint. Fresh, delicious and with every cent. The buffalo chicken dip and corn nuggets were all very tasty. Drink service is a little slow but overall worth the drive.

Thank god I only ordered 6

This place used to have the best wings. Been coming here for years when in the area. Now the wings are precooked frozen breaded wings that they heat up. Some of the worst I've ever had. I can't believe the overhead savings in frozen wings is worth the loss of customers and orders. Only bright spot is our server Whitney was awesome.

My wife enjoyed the California Salad.

Fat Edd's Roadhouse was a pleasant surprise on our recent, brief visit to Metropolis. We were passing through the area and decided to check the Superman Statue off our bucket list. After our photo-ops at the statue we were hungry, and decided to give Fat Edd's a try. When you walk in: go to your left if you are hungry, and right if you are thirsty. The restaurant and bar are operated separately. You order and pay for your food on the left and order and pay for your drinks at the bar on the right. The day we visited there was a waitress for the bar side. She was very friendly. For the food, you walk-up and order at the counter. They will call you when the food is ready. My wife tried the California Salad, and I had a BBQ Chicken Sandwich. We also ordered the Buffalo Chicken Dip. Everything was very tasty. If you are looking for good food, friendly service, and reasonable prices, I recommend you try Fat Edd's Roadhouse.

Fat Edd's Roadhouse 323 Ferry St, Metropolis IL 62960 July 6, 2023 Thursday - 1:10 PM for lunch 4 Adults Atmosphere - 3 stars Food - 3 stars Service - 3 stars Background - Business trip and working in the area. Atmosphere - It is a bar that serves food. We sat near the front at one of the large high top tables. The place was half full but most tables were covered with dirty plates and glasses. Food Drink - Just water. Lunch - Philly Cheesesteak, blah is the best way to describe the dried out meat. The only thing saving it was the cheese and there was not much of that. Service - Lacking, so you need to order your food from one area and drinks for the bartender. The bartender did visit us at the table. She delivered the drinks and forgot about us. It took some effort to pay for the drinks that were ordered. She literally said she forgot about us. Future - Probably not, but it is a business trip with a lot team members, so who knows.

Pulled pork (terrible) baked beans and corn nuggets

A bit of a different set up here. You order your food at the grill and pay for the food there. Then you find a seat and a waitress sells you your drinks. It essentially a very large bar with a grill so maybe the set up is for that reason. I thought about getting a grilled chicken sandwich, but the women at the counter said I should try the pulled pork. I did and regretted it. The pork was old, tough and dry. Perhaps the worst I'd ever had. My wife had a pice of fish which she said was ok and onion rings which she said were good. Two friends had burgers and thought they were good. Service was poor. Our waitress never came back to check on drinks, so I carried them all to the bar to get refills. I just don't think I'd ever return, they do a good business there but I guess the options in town are limited. If you do go, avoid the pulled pork!

The ranch doesn't taste the same as it once did. It seems to lack that from scratch flavor it once had. I grabbed a ribeye and double ausie fries just to give it another go. The fries were soggy and salty. The once gooey mounds of cheese are gone and the ranch didnt hit the same. The steak had a good seasoning atop but was lacking any sear, crust or texture. It was gray and soggy. The waiter didn't know which steak I was requesting even though I was reading the name straight from the menu.. I seldom leave bad reviews and I won't leave one here. I would say it was an average experience for a once great restaurant. Not sure I'll return any time soon with their being so much competition. Hopefully when I eventually do in a few years they'll have regained that level of detail they were once known for.

I'm in Paducah for work I had a long day so I was excited to see an Outback soo close to my hotel, (regret choosing them now) so I decided to treat myself to $45 meal. Ordered a medium rare prime rib steak, chili, baked potato with everything on it. I went to pick it up which at first the restaurant was not busy I stood in the take out area for about 10 mins while workers passed me by which ok fine. The guy the brought the food was pleasant. I went back to my hotel excited to enjoy my prime rib. Just to open up the box to a grey piece of dry meat (smaller than I ordered by the way) I never return food because I been in the food business before. But I couldn't eat this. I called the manager said to come back so I did. I waited in the take out area he brought the food he was super nice the food looked better I was happy. Untilllllll I get back to the room open the container and a weird chemically smell was coming from the steak. I said maybe it's in my head so I take a bite absolutely horrible I can't even describe the taste. I kept trying but couldn't do it came to the realization I'm just going to have to be out of $45 and threw every thing away. Ohhh the chili! Was 70% oil soooo disgusting I've never experienced this at Outback and I have been to a few. I wish I came on yelp first and saw how badly they were rated. Would have saved me $45

Menu at first was a little daunting because it felt more like an alacart style. Food is fresh and hot. Service was friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere - Old building with dining in a large room. Mostly filled with locals at long tables. We sat at a 4 person table in the corners. Food Drink - Coffee served with a spoon in it. I take my coffee just black. Breakfast - I went with the 2 eggs, Choice of bacon, sausage or ham, with toast or biscuits and gravy. I had too 2 eggs over easy, got medium, sausage that looked like bacon, and the biscuit and gravy could have had more gravy on the thin biscuit. Service - After we placed our order our waitress had to visit us and ask me how I want my eggs. I took 25 minutes to receive food. The clock is ticking and I was not sending the bacon back because I ordered sausage. Future - Maybe as I have another trip to the area soon.
