Wifey and I have been talking about going to Fat Fish Taco for eight years - since they opened - but we FINALLY made it last night. And we. Both agreed we were idiots for waiting so long. This place reminded both of us of being in a Jersey shore restaurant - pleasing and simple decor, friendly people, and good food. They were mostly filled when we got there, but we were seated immediately and started looking over the menu. We opened our wine (yep, it's BYOB) and they brought us some glasses. It was pretty tough deciding what to have. First we considered an appetizer and a couple tacos each, but then the table next to us got their nachos and we decided on those and one taco each. We ordered the nachos with chicken, Wifey got the Baja taco and I had the Blackened Sole taco. Man...it was all good. Kudos to the owner, Steve, and the wait staff. The tacos were delicious and everything tasted so fresh. The nachos were great too, though I would have liked more chicken on them. The chips tasted fresh and everything on top was just amazing. We finished off the evening with a slice of Key Lime pie with two spoons. It's not a stretch to say this is the best Key Lime pie I've ever eaten...anywhere. Could not have asked for a better meal...as Wifey said, it was an "Unexpected Delight. Took us 8 years to finally come here...won't be 8 years til our next visit, that's for sure. Worth every penny.

Everything in this place is delicious. Today we had the lobster taco with Lump Lobster Meat, Cabbage, Old Bay Aioli, Chives & Flour Tortilla and the Baja taco with Tempura Battered Cod, Cabbage, Lime Cilantro Sauce, & a Flour Tortilla. Surprisingly, the bread pudding was also amazing since I am not a big fan of bread pudding.

I've been here a few times but I'm surprised I don't believe I wrote a review for this place. To keep it simple, they have very large tacos/burritos, absolutely amazing specials (today I had a gumbo soup which was to die for), always great service, and a nice clean aesthetic.

I still can't believe there's a fish taco place in New Jersey. The host, Mike, was extremely hospitable. He asked if I was a first-timer, and upon my yes, explained that the tacos here are served as 6" diameter singles (I.e., one taco per order). I sat down to dine in on a quiet Sunday and Mike turned on the music to create an atmosphere. I was a huge fan of the blackened fish taco, which had a tremendous chipotle and blackened seasoning that I still remember days after my meal. In contrast, I wish the Baja, which featured beer battered cod, had had more salt or fish flavor; it definitely came across as fresh and light. I also would've wanted a slightly toasted tortilla, just to elevate the experience a bit.

Spicy shrimp and Blackened Fish Tacos

Very tasty, hit the spot tbh. I was in the mood for seafood tacos and happened to come on a Tuesday when they have their taco Tuesday deal of free rice and beans with an order of 2 tacos. I tried the spicy shrimp and the blackened fish. Both soooo yummy although I definitely preferred the shrimp. They were a little pricey at about $9 a taco but they were also on the larger side. Honestly not bad for the area. Will probably come again

Cute place with great food, service and prices. The tacos were fresh, delicious and not the finger food size you often see.

Guacamole and delicious chips

Awesome takeout service with curbside delivery direct to our car. Mask, gloves, on time in beginning of May 2020. We ordered guacamole and chips. The guacamole was delicious, dense and chunky. The restaurant-made chips were crispy and light, with some puffed up. A great starter. For mains, we ordered the cod burrito, the blackened sole burrito, plus two Buffalo Shrimp tacos and two Spicy Shrimp tacos. Both types of shrimp tacos were superb, flavorful, spicy, with good cabbage and tomato fresh salsa. They were different from one another and we would order both again. The fish burritos were immense with fish, rice and beans. They were good but we were more impressed by the tacos and plan to try more of the taco options such as pork belly. We actually had so much food we were able to have a second complete meal. All in all, super impressed. Seemed appropriate to post this on Cinco De Mayo. Thanks Fat Fish Taco for a great first experience. Stay safe everyone!

I was in the area and looking for a good lunch spot and Fat Fish popped up. I LOVE tacos so I was excited to come give this place a try. It's minutes from Caldwell University and my favorite thing about the location had to be that there was parking in the back of the restaurant. I had finding a great food spot but parking is a hassle, so this was a major plus for me. We went in around 1pm on a Thursday afternoon and there was only 1 table occupied so we were seated immediately. I ordered the spicy and bang bang shrimp tacos and my date had the shrimp quesadillas. The spicy shrimp was delicious and the bang bang was good too, but I don't love pineapples on my food so it was a little outside of my comfort zone. Our favorite part about our meals was the seasoned fries ! They were so yummy. I deff recommend adding them as a side. Other thoughts: I love the nautical aesthetic of the place. It even carries into the bathroom. Though I thought the mirror was too high, if you're 5'5 and under be prepared to not be able to look into the mirror. I would come back if I'm in the area to try the fish tacos !

Flavor is there but the tacos are so incredibly soggy I'm not sure I'd order again. Maybe ask for corn tortilla instead of flour?

Oh wow... what a disappointment…read more.. We live nearby and frequent a sister restaurant up the road (Barka), and while we have seen the reviews on Milagros for a while, due to a few warm recommendations we decided we might as well check it out for ourselves. The place looks nice, has a square bar with upside down vegetation, and has a very interesting concept of perpetual happy hour (which IMHO is silly and I'd rather just be shocked at their low prices in the menu) it's 30% off drinks and 20% off food. The service was decent, but unfortunately things fell apart with the food and drinks With the exception of the guac that was decently sized, fresh, and decent though under seasoned, everything else was bland, and I mean everything, the margaritas, the ceviche (!!), the octopus, and the worst by far was the chicken fajitas, that was tough, un seasoned, and for some reason dredged in flower (and on top of we both had stomach issues the day after). After nibbling at the food and the drinks, we went to finish the night at Barka

The band walked around to the tables for song requests and would sing next to the table as well, really cute! My mom requested a song for my grandma, which made her tear, it was really sweet. Most of the staff seemed really warm and friendly, unfortunately not the same could be said from the waitress we got. She seemed to be pretty absent, didn't seem knowledgeable when asked about details on dishes. At one point, she accidentally dropped guacamole on a little girl's arm at the table next to us and she apologized once and walked away, leaving the guacamole on the floor and splattered all over her coat as well as mine. All other staff we interacted with were nice and helpful. On to the food! The salsa was really flavorful and the chips were fresh and crispy. I got the cheese enchiladas which were pretty nice. It came with rice and beans which ended up being eaten by my daughter. She got an order of rice and beans and the portions were quite big for just being sides which was really nice. Mom and grandma had soups which they said were quite flavorful. It is BYOB so all their drinks are non alcoholic which is cool for everyone. I got the lime Margarita which was very limey, very delicious. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot for some good Mexican food.

They're knowledgeable about the many items on the menu and kept our waters and chips topped up throughout the meal. The actual food wasn't as great. I tried some barbacoa street tacos and some fried fish tacos. Everything was fresh and well cooked but lacking in flavor - each dish could be seasoned a bit more. I do feel everything would have benefitted from salt, and I wish that as a dine-in customer my burrito had not come wrapped in to-go paper. To give you a sense of the ambiance: the Spanish-speaking cashier/cook was reading a book when I walked in, and the television on the wall was blaring a Spanish-language TV show. I was one of only two customers when I went for a Saturday lunch around 1p. The other customer was also conversing in Spanish with the front of house. I appreciated that a bottled green habanero sauce was at my table, along with Cholula. It helps add to the authenticity. All that said, maybe don't come here for the tex-mex. If I came back I'd try one of the five different kinds of tacos they offered.
