I paid extra for cookie dough topping and didn't receive it, instead i received chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream along with my scoop of brownie ice cream. I didn't say anything because it was getting busy and I didn't want to be that lady. I would recommend coming between 4-6. We came after dinner once a little after 7 and the line was almost to the road so we decided to go somewhere else. Delicious! We very much enjoyed our first time visiting Fatboyz. The employees were nice and timely. We had a strawberry sundae (strawberry ice cream), hot fudge sundae (mint chocolate chip ice cream), heath flurrie, and root beer float. To start the portions were huge! You could easily share a scoop between two people. The ice cream itself is flavorful, creamy, and deliciously cold. The whipped cream on the sundaes was thick, and reminded us of cool whip! We arrived at Fatboyz and stood in line at 9:38 and got to the order window at 9:52. The employees (all teenagers) refused to come to the window to take our order because it was close to their closing time (10pm). I asked one employee if they were done taking orders and his response was "I don't know how to work the register!" That didn't even answer my question. At 10:04 I was finally able to wave over the girl that has been taking orders at the window and asked her if they were done taking orders, and with an attitude she said "We told a group in line we were not taking orders after them and asked them to tell others." It is NOT a customers responsibility to tell people that show up after them that the business is no longer taking orders. The family that said that said they were told that before 9:30. Another customer waiting in line asked another girl that was working the pick-up window if they were no longer taking orders and her response was "I don't know, I don't work here. I just came in to help a friend." She was working a soft serve machine and handing orders out of the pick up window to customers and wasn't wearing any food service nitrile gloves like some of the other employees were wearing. I'm pretty sure this would affect their sanitation grade that they legally have to post here in NC. I guess they should prepare for a specialized inspection for violation of food service laws NC has in place. Owners need to make sure their employees are comfortable handling large crowds of people. They were clearly afraid to communicate to their customers which is why they asked customers standing in line to communicate things to other customers and avoided the order window until it was after their closing time. You don't turn away customers before your closing time just because you want to end your night early. They ignored over 20 people that were standing in line for over 20 minutes. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone that has any concerns of food safety as they clearly don't follow those laws. I also wouldn't recommend showing up after 9:30pm because they clearly want to be done with their night as soon as they can after their advertised closing time of 10pm. read more

Dipping ice cream into a paper cup shouldn't take an hour and a half. This place will ruin your day as you sit and wonder what in the world could be happening inside. They will take thirty or forty orders and then only call orders out every five or ten minutes. And I mean an order with one scoop of ice cream in a cup takes 10 minutes. And it's not worth the wait. Good ice cream with generous sizes. I came with my family on a Sunday evening, even though Yelp said that it was closed. The line of people in the parking lot showed that it was open for business, and we are glad we stopped. One person in our group got a swirled soft serve that he enjoyed, and two got flurries they enjoyed. It hit the spot on a warm evening after dinner. It's walk-up to order, and there's a large covered bench-seating area off to the side. They have a range of flavored drinks (some carbonated, some not), ice cream, and more. One popular item seemed to be ice cream in a taco-shaped cone, and we saw some people get those. A few people got banana splits or sundaes too. My experience deviates strongly from all the negative reviews here-- we came on a Tuesday afternoon. There was a long line of people, but the folks inside were working diligently to get the LARGE orders everyone was making prepared. Service was extremely friendly-- got a genuine smile and "how has your day been so far?" from the friendly cashier as she rung us up. We ordered a pineapple milkshake, a mango sorbet, and a small cup of ice cream. Wait to get food was probably 10 minutes after we placed the order, but they were steadily giving ice cream to the earlier large groups, so it was fair. We finally got ours, and we were happy. The milkshake was a little runny (opposite of what you might get from "CookOut") but very tasty and with chunks of pineapple. The sorbet was sweet and perfect. And the ice cream was also really good. As with most things in Nags Head, it's not as cheap as it seems like it could be, but for $13 (including small tip) for all three of us, it was a reasonably priced, good quality treat. Not too big, but just like you'd make yourself at home, but better. Great rolls, perfectly assembled, superb flavor. This was my first time to Fatboyz and I will definitely be back. It is a little pricey though. A large cheeseburger ($7), onions rings ($4) and a medium drink set me back $14. That's a lot for lunch. They need some combo meals, unless I missed them. A great burger, though, and it probably warrants the price. While 5Guys and Elevation Burger are also pricey, they don't have as much meat behind the product. Good stuff. I got the strawberry Sundae with rainbow sprinkles, while most of my party got a kids cone (mint chocolate chip, chocolate with sprinkles, cookie dough). The kids cones seemed to be bigger scoops than the kids cup portion but it may have been perception. One person got the chocolate dipped cone and enjoyed it. Overall it was decent yet sadly not memorable or really good. The price was average or slightly above average for the quantity and quality (standard for beach areas). Also the tables weren't the cleanest and the seating was limited especially for a party of our size.
