By sheer luck we happened upon Fattoush after missing a turn to get onto the highway after a sports tournament. We were greeted warmly with a wonderful spread of olives, pickles, pita and cucumber yogurt. We tried the Friday buffet,served between noon & four only. We got that to get an overall sample of what is served there. Everything was GREAT and there were many things to chose from as far as entrees goes. The only thing that they could do there to improve their buffet is to have the name of the items that are in the pans and if it is hot or mild. Most people who know middle-eastern food already know what the items are, but to some of the novices that go there,all they see is a chicken dish,lamb dish, or whatever and might have to ask "what is THIS?". Their service was terrible and we waited about 45 minutes. The restaurant wasn't even busy and our waiter Ahmed got our order wrong. We explained to him the order was wrong and he got mad us for his mistake. He started saying racial remarks so we decided to leave, he followed us outside and tried to provoke a fight and also said we can't afford food there and he's not our slave. One concern though, the service, I strongly recommend the proprietors pay more attention to this, our server, although polite and helpful, she got the soup of the day wrong and had to be asked 3 times for a lemon slice for the ice water before we got some, my son asked for cappuccino and got it 20 minutes later, and had to ask for the check twice before getting it. Great place! When I moved to the south suburbs I was disappointed there weren't a lot of middle easterner restaurants. This was much different than when I lived in the city. I was so happy when I stumbled upon this place. The portions here are huge! You also get a FREE APPETIZER/SIDE when you order any dinner meal. Amazing! I do wish they served alcohol, but I can live without it. I highly recommend the chicken shawarma it's delicious!! Let me start off by saying that this place gets their meats from Barakaat foods and chicken from Crescent foods as confirmed by the manager and they also have certifications hung up by their front desk. This information was very reassuring as not all Halal/Zabiha restaurants are actually verified by Islamic organizations. They have free valet service which is great as we went on a Saturday night. The parking lot was full (which just meant the food must have been delicious)! From the moment we stepped inside,the restaurant seemed very lively and we were greeted with friendly faces. Our server was Ahmad and he was just wonderful! He recommended the most popular items off the menu and didn't pressurize us into ordering something we didn't want. We ended up deciding on chicken shawarma and mix grill platter. Before the food arrived, we were served fresh pita with garlic sauce, mixed olives, and pickles. Shortly after that, the soup and salads (courtesy of Ahmad as it was our first time) came. Soup was savory and tasted great with the pita. Our salads were one of the finest! The chicken shawarma and fries arrived as we were just finishing our soup. That shawarma was PERFECTION! Just. Perfect. I have no other words to praise this glorious sandwich. The mix grill platter was huge! Their portion sizes are very generous. We enjoyed the chicken tawook the most and the red rice that was served with it. I felt there was a hint of that meaty/fatty smell from the kefta kabab and shish kabab. Next time, we will stick with the chicken tawook or try their seafood items. Drove 2 hours from MKE to try this place, and it didn't disappoint. We ordered the Chicken Tawook (got the sandwhich by mistake, kept it), and the Chicken Shwarma sandwhich to-go. Both came stacked, beautifully prepared and presented, in a sturdy plastic box. The chicken was perfectly charred, tender, and seasoned with just enough sauce. The accompanying pickles were also tasty, with a bit of heat. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star, was because my order was confused for the sandwich instead of the platter I asked for.
