Took my kids there for some slices of pizza at lunch and I got the Hojo sandwich which is the best sandwich I've had in a while. Sadly I have yet to try the pizza as my kids ate all theirs and my 10 year old even got a second slice. The staff was fast and friendly and the place was clean with great outdoor seating. I have been studying to be a master pizzaiolo for over 60 years.......which means I know pizza very well. I grew up in NY in the 50's/60's when all of the thousands of pizza places throughout the NY metro area were owned/run by Italians who made pizza :"NY style": thin to very thin crust, a very small low profile "bone" at the edge, a well balanced bright raw tomato sauce, a thin topping of mozzarella, baked crisp. Of course not all pies were the same, there were lots of variations.........but most were similar. To me, the pizza with the most sauce was usually the best, even if it meant the slice flopped instead staying rigid and you needed 2 hands to eat.......in the end the taste was most important. That is why when I see a pic of pizza on yelp is made properly NY style but does not show the redness of the sauce I will customize the pie to what I think it should be so I have a better chance of enjoying it and going back. I also do not have them cut it. When I get home I eat 1/4 then freeze the other 3 quarters. I usually heat up the slice the way they do at the restaurant.......on a preheated hot pizza stone to replicate the hearth in the pizza oven heating from the bottom. I moved to the Austin area over a year ago and have made it a point to regularly try new pizza places based on the the photos, asking them to customize to heavy sauce and light cheese. For NY style I've enjoyed Pedrosos, Sammataro, Little Italian Deli, Home Slice, Backdraft, 600 degrees, Saccones, and Local Slice. All were good, some really good. Yesterday I went took my first pie home from Favorite. The young pizza chef, took my order, took payment, then immediately made my pie in front of me so I could direct him for the proper sauce/cheese proportion I wanted. Talk about fast service!!!1 Plus he is a master, he made the pie in less than 2 minutes. He then took it out of the oven and brought it over to me so I could feel the crust and decide if it was made to my satisfaction as I asked to undercook it about 1 minute. IT was perfect. In fact he commented that it was beautiful and much better looking than his pies because it was red on top not yellow from melted cheese. Now the verdict: paper thin yet super crisp and chewy, sauce was perfect could not be better, cheese was creamy as melted in to the sauce a perfect ratio. Result: 5 stars for the pizza and service.....not to mention the price of $17 for an 18" pie. I will continue to have fun trying other NY style places and customizing to see if I can find more winners......but for sure Favorite will be my favorite pizza for now. read more

I love this pizza! But I don't love it when I try to call in an order and no one answers. The recorded message tells me to go online. Once online, the website says that "online ordering not available." So I call back and no one answers. So I drove 15 minutes to the store and inform the person taking my order (who informs the manager) that online ordering is not available and that they should be answering their phone. The manager says, "I guess our phones aren't working." The person takes my order and says, "it will be 25 minutes." No attempt to make it right and no apology, but it gave me time to write a review. I love this pizza, so three stars! And I'll even give them another shot. I hope they can get it together. Their customer experience needs an upgrade. Yummo ! The inside of Favorite Pizza is very vintage NY Pizza bar (at least, I think it is. Idk, I'm from the midwest). They nailed the old school look, somehow, even though you know it's all new decor! It's not very big, but they do have some indoor seating which could be fun to take advantage of. This little hidden gem on 6th and west (ok maybe not so hidden...) is some of the best pizza and definitely the best Caesar salad I've ever had. Whatever they top their salad with is amazing. I could eat it by the bag full. They also have a meatball pizza topping which is *chefs kiss* delicious. Their carry out is a different story. The Caesar salad that I'm obsessed with isn't cheap ($14 for a small, $18 for a large) and the only size available for takeout is large. After ordering this 3 times and specifically requesting that more salad be added to the container to be more aligned with the amount you receive when eating at the restaurant, I won't be ordering take out from here again. For almost $20 you get maybe half the size of a small salad unless you stay there to eat. As delicious as the salad is, I can't justify spending $20 on lettuce and dressing for 1. Favorite Pizza, perhaps the only restaurant in town whose literal name defines what this new special place will become to you, your favorite Pizzeria in all of Austin. Let me start by saying this place sits on a quaint little corner in the most charming part of Downtown Austin. I knew from the outside looking in I was in for something special, but so rarely in life do places turn out to be as good as you hoped...in this case, it was better. I will begin by reviewing the pizza since after all, this is a Pizza place. It is the most delicious blend of everything you'd ever want in a slice of heaven; cheesy, saucy, thin but soft, and oh so perfectly crispy and charred at the same time. It somehow embodies everything you'd ever want to taste and feel while devouring a pizza slice. So far I've tried the Mosquito Bite (no meat), Clarks Clam, and the Garden Pie. The Mosquito Bite was out of this world. I couldn't tell what to devote my thanks to, the fresh tomato sauce, the perfectly sweet and spicy honey, or the Fresno peppers perfectly baked into the cheese, it was simply perfection. I literally texted my family after my first slice, because I had to share how good this thing was. The Clam Pizza was everything you'd ever want in a Clam Pizza, down to the fresh surprise of a lemon wedge and whole clam garnish that took it to the next level for me. Lastly but definitely not least...the Garden Pie. When I say you have to get this pizza, I mean you HAVE to. I have never had a pizza like this before ever, from anywhere. I've never even seen this offered on a menu and yet it's so divinely simple. It's a white cheesy pie garnished with a crisp green salad tossed in a red wine vinaigrette. The combination of warm and savory with the fresh crunchy tang of the lettuce was truly incredible. Even if you are a red sauce meat loving kind of person, who calls salad Rabbit Food (like my dad) I swear this pizza will not just win you over, but convert you to a white pie addict. And yes, their Ranch is amazing and tasted exquisite with every pie and every bite. Now moving on to the restaurant itself. First of all the branding is worthy of this incredible pizza as it's extremely unique and memorable. It feels like a place that's always been here, in part thanks to the existing bones of the charming long time local Liquor store that used to call these walls home. But it goes beyond that. They truly nailed whatever vision they had for this place and it's so exciting to feel it thrive in the Austin scene. I can't say enough about this amazing little place. I hope they are here to stay and do very well because they truly deserve it. From the chefs, to the staff, to the owners, to the designers, to anyone and everyone that contributed to the formation of this new Pizza place. I absolutely love it, and I promise you will to. And for the final piece of my review I'd like to talk about their cocktails, but not just any cocktail...the FROZEN cocktails that they can for you to take home right then and there, with their tiny little can making machine, that yes...puts their delicious beverages into a branded frosty cold can ready to be popped open and enjoyed. I had the frozen Aperol Spritz and have every intention of trying their other frozen cocktail next time. How have we all lived so long here in Austin without "Favorite Pizza" ? Okay, I'm done now.
