The location is amazing, it is usually not too hard to find parking around. The staff here is so sweet, I have been here twice now and everyone I have interacted with is lovely. The pizza seals the deal, I just go for a slice or two of either cheese or pepperoni so it ends up being a super amazing and affordable meal for downtown Austin on 6th. The interior of this place will make you feel like you are in a completey different city in the best way. Definitely drop into the restroom while stopping here to see their funky set up in there! It is so cute! Overall, Favorite Pizza has joined my list of places to go regularly in Austin. I would also reccomend it to anyone visiting from out of town. I called Favorite Pizza with a last-minute LARGE order for the Austin High Cross Country team and booster club. Bobby, the manager, was momentarily overwhelmed because this is a VERY small pizza place. Then he said, "I want to make this happen for you, let's see what we can do!". Minutes later, he called back and we determined how much pizza to order (96 slices!). They busted their butts to make sure all 12 pizzas were ready right on time (5 fewer pizzas than I originally intended to order). Favorite pizza is legit. Yes, I too bemoan the loss of Frank and Angie's and their legendary pizza and spaghetti specials that helped college students eat well on a budget. Some of the other posts talk about dropping $100 bills for a pizza meal out which I originally scoffed at, but it's all true. This place can get expensive. Quickly. That being said, when looking at the breakdown, you'll see that the prices can be actually pretty okay depending on what you're ordering and the quality is very good. First. That Cesar Salad is amazing. It's built with baby romaine leaves, well dressed and topped with a mild chili crisp which is out of this world. Is it $14 good? Yes. The slices were all good as well. So, shame on us for getting 5 slices from the case at ~$5 each instead of a whole pizza for ~$20-25 but we wanted to try different things. Wine was definitely pricey at $14 a glass. Horrible customer service and honestly subpar product. Never coming back here - and frankly side eyeing all my fave MML restaurants - after this traumatizing experience tonight. Someone at Favorite Pizza listed the restaurant on the app TooGoodToGo, a social impact tech-enabled b-corp fighting a major issue in developed countries - food waste. On the app, Favorite Pizza advertises a surprise bag for $5.99 that's supposed to be worth an $18 value. Story time: when I approached the order window, the red-headed young cashier was helping a group of 4 before me and kindly said that I would be next. After that group ordered and paid, another man approached and quickly ordered and paid before the cashier turned her attention back to me despite saying I was next. Fine, no big deal. Then things really went downhill from there. I explained that I was picking up a TooGoodToGo order and proceeded to show her my prepaid order on the app. She had no idea what this was so she brought over the bar manager Mike Brennan. He also had no idea what this was so I explained the app's premise, the amount I paid, and again showed that I was well within the pickup time stated. Mike started to get unnecessarily defensive and patronizing asking if I was looking for a food donation and that they don't have items for $6. I knew this was false so I asked how much a slice of cheese was - about $4 he responded. So perplexed as to why he was trying to act like this is a fine dining establishment and didn't have anything for $6 lol. His responses were so condescending- saying he could get me a slice with a side of ranch. Like sir, I can afford the meal but you're not grasping the fun/altruistic point of the app... I wasn't sure why Mike would rather argue with me over some cheap pizza I still did pay $6 for but he did. He ended up compromising by wrapping up 2 slices but with a sneer and patronizing laugh. Not the $18 value they advertise on the app but at this point I truly didn't care what I was getting. It makes me sad that he thinks treating paying customers -or anyone- like a begging, inconveniencing thief is an acceptable human response. After this whole conundrum I suggested he try getting the restaurant off the app to avoid a repeat of this situation. Again, Mike condescendingly replied that he didn't know how to because he doesn't use it. Okay - I was well aware of that by this point - but escalating to the GM later would probably be a good place to start?! Ignorance/incompetence is not a good excuse and reeks of poor attitude. But I walked away not wanting to press any further. Anyway onto the pizza - the marg slice was edible because it's pizza, but being from NJ/NYC it just didn't hit. I ordered something simple, A slice of pepperoni pizza - $4.70 something Dr. Pepper - $3 Now with that being said that Dr. Pepper is a 12 OZ can, $3 is a little excessive. Favorite looks like they somehow got all of the furniture from a 90s New Jersey pizza joint shipped to Texas, which is cool, and gave me some serious nostalgia. Not bad, but not great. This place is just not for us and serves a better purpose for people who are wasted on 6th and just want to grab a slice. We were expecting a bit more since we had a nice time at Sammie's last spring, but Favorite Pizza is operating at a lower level. First thing: the place is dirty. Crumbs everywhere and there is no garbage can inside (only outside). Counters were not wiped down and if you're a party larger than two people, then get your butts outside or you're sitting on the stools. If you sit outside, the fans and mist are going and every table was wet, which meant that your food would also be getting wet, so not the best design. The pizzas in the case looked like they had been sitting out for a while, so we opted to get a whole pie, the #4, "the Piazza." It was good, but certainly no different than what you would find at Home Slice or the like. The chopped salad (which is basically Nancy Silverton's Mozza recipe) was fine and we did like the meatballs too. Actually, no complaints about the food, but the price point was higher than other places in the same category--probably to justify the downtown rent. We do want to shout out the "favorite slush," which is one of the few times that we've had a frozen drink that delivers on flavor, consistency, and booziness. They also have our beloved Genny Cream Ale on tap, so nice job on that. The guys working were nice, but nobody was hustling and they were standing around when the place could have obviously used some elbow grease. We ended up finishing both pizzas. I also ordered a salad unfortunately I didn't get to try it however it did look really good. I would've given this place five stars, however I ordered 4 sides of ranch, that were two dollars each, and they did not give me my ranch. So I spent eight dollars for some thing I never got.
