I am such a fan of fish and seafood I was definitely looking forward to trying FD's. On a Saturday afternoon just after 4pm we had about a 15 minute wait to sit a table of 4. The prices are very reasonable and the menu is on the smaller side. At our table we all ordered different menu items. FD's Trio, Steak & Shrimp, Atlantic Cod and the Catfish platter. We had popcorn chicken for our appetizer and I really liked it. It's served with 2 dipping sauces, ranch and a honey dipping sauce. On my Atlantic Cod I substituted the french fries for green beans. I didn't like them because the green beans had a hint of sweetness that I disliked so much. My daughter ordered the one and only dessert on the menu, key lime pie. It's a generous slice with an incredible amount of whipped cream. I will surely dine here again and I will try different sides. read more

I love this restaurant it's probably my favorite in Springfield. The food is amazing I've never been upset, although it's a little disappointing that they're always out of the New York strip.:( The sirloin makes it easy to get over that. With this being said where this restaurant could use a little work is right at the entrance. Every time I've come in Ella always seems to think I'm invisible, or doesn't care to acknowledge me or my wife . I've came in three times with her as a host and she never said a word to me or my wife. All of the other host are amazing to us and treat us great along with the amazing servers. I think this could be fixed with some coaching or having her removed but I've noticed it not once, not twice, but three times she has no idea how to treat people professionally. This place looks amazing with the stone on the outside and inside is nice as well. The menu items looked unusual and delicious and made it hard to decide which entree to order. Our server was good and then the food came. It was mediocre. I was disappointed. It was just ok. The chicken was a bit tough. It seemed like it might have been sitting out awhile. Last night we started the evening with cocktails and calamari in the bar while we waited for our table. A full restaurant and 45 minute wait and not a mask in sight felt really good! Lucky for us, we were able to grab the only 3 low-top seats at the end of the bar, so we decided to eat dinner there too and forego the wait. The FD martini is made with Tito's & blood orange and it was strong and delicious. One was enough for me. This is one of my parents' favorites. Great food and great prices. The menu options are executed well and there is something for everyone. My Dad loves the fish tacos, which actually looks more like a burrito cut in half and they grill the tortilla. I usually get the bourbon glazed cedar plank salmon with pineapple salsa and tonight was no exception. It's always perfectly cooked and a nice portion size. It comes with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli, so I like to swap for their southern green beans (which tastes like bacon, but there is no bacon in sight), delicious, and their matchstick veggies which are my favorite. Their house salad is also really tasty with fresh spring greens, matchstick green apple and candied pecans with a gorgeous lemon vinaigrette. We like that the vibe is casual upscale but without the upscale up charges. My martini, dinner and salad came to $25 with tax. Nice! My only "nit" is that the bartender took my water glass to refill with ice & water and after he gave it back, immediately started putting away clean glasses without washing his hands first. Everything is fully open with no more Covid precautions, but good hygiene is always important. read more

I have been to FD's three times and have had a positive experience every time. I stayed across the street at the Holiday Inn Express, so it is very convenient. All times I have been here the wait has never been over 15 minutes. The menu has a variety of items to choose from. I feel that all food that I have ordered has been exceptionally fresh and made to order. Nothing from under a heat lamp. We were visiting over Christmas so we at here 12/23/2024 and 12/24/2023. We had chicken salad and salmon salad with Key Lime pie the first night. The second night we had another chicken salad and the fish platter with Key Lime pie again! Also, the honey lime dressing is so delicious, thanks to Hallie S for the recommendation. She was a very attentive and welcoming waitress, definitely an asset to the restaurant. So back to the Key Lime pie, well it is good just get it and you won't be disappointed! Also did I mention this place is affordable too. I will attach my receipt. read more

My first experience with FD's Grillhouse was the ambiance. Great atmosphere, family-friendly, and staff providing great customer service, the waitress that served us was fast and efficient with our drink refills and making sure we had everything we needed. As for the food, the appetizers were bangin, starting with the fried pickles and ranch providing a nice crispy exterior on the pickles, and the ranch was amazing, then the meal itself was spot on. The chicken strips were great, and the fries were cooked just right. Crispy and lightly salted on the exterior, and the coleslaw was ok. It was a little bland imo. But still on my rating scale from D-SSS, I give an overall score of SS. read more

He also had a rootbeer that we think the syrup was going out on. Serves was good. At times it was slow but it was also busy. Ambiance made you feel like you were in a more expensive restaurant. Went here because we wanted catfish. The menus listed here are outdated as we discovered after waiting 30 minutes on a busy Friday at 6:30 pm. The new menu has eliminated a lot of items. We ordered margaritas very good plenty of alcohol. Fried pickles good light batter and not soggy. We only ordered the trio alaskan fish (cod), shrimp and crab stuffed shrimp. They had a unique corn meal batter it was good but not anything like any other restaurant has for fried food. The crab stuffed shrimp was pretty spicy but good. Prices are reasonable and staff was friendly, attentive and answered questions. Even with the limited menu we will return on a less busy day. I'm adding the current menu to pictures.
