This restaurant has truly become a disappointment. Our food has come out cold the past few visits, and service has gone down as well. Staff is very friendly but this is not the place to go for a quick and quiet hot meal. Food is cold, bland, and low quality. My salad has come out wilted on several occasions. The best thing on the menu is their chicken tenders. I am yet to have a steak cooked correctly at this place either. This was a wonderful place for a nice meal. The prices were very reasonable. I had the 20 oz ribeye with a potato and kale salad for 23.99. I was shocked this would have been double that back home and would not have tasted half of what this meal did. I have to fight myself from eating here again tomorrow. This is the type of place I really enjoy coming to. The waiters at the bar were two awesome young dudes that were on their job. I only got 1 of the 2 sides because Id ordered the gumbo as a starter and honestly, that was just too much damn food. The gumbo reminds me of the one at Pappadeauxs which is edible, but not my favorite and the other food was really good. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the shrimp and etoufee were too. Paired with fries (haha), no compliants here. Their dessert menu was pretty pathetic (I didn't need the sweets anyway) and the prices on the menu remind me of cheddars (very affordable). A mixed party of nine, we had among us diabetics, dairy allergics, picky eaters who don't like vegetables, penny pinchers, and one claustrophobic who doesn't like close seating (She was out of luck, because we were packed together like we were an actually functional family). I could and probably should knock off one star for the fact that our food took most of an hour and one third of the people at our table had a problem with their order, but our server Lexie was so accommodating, the food so delicious, and the food prices so reasonable that I'll definitely plan to dine here again when in Tyler. FD's is almost always a solid standard of food. I often get the chicken spinach Alfredo pasta and it's yummy. I always like the millionaire bacon and the deviled eggs and the kale salad as a side is even yummy with its peanut sauce. My husband often gets the cedar plank salmon with 2 sides and the baked potatoe is always good also. The grilled shrimp is good also. I have been eating at FD's for almost 5 years now and have posted 5 star reviews in the past. Lately, however, it seems that every time I go in there for lunch between 10:30 and 11:00 am the service and food have been very sketchy. I would assume that a restaurant like this would be ready to serve the menu at opening time. It has been my observation, however, that this is not the case. I have seen the kitchen staff gathered around the tv in the bar area watching football, I have never ordered coffee at that time without them having to brew a pot, and we frequently have to wait for 30 minutes or more to receive our simple meals like a burger or grilled chicken. It is not unusual to be finally eating our food only to see tables around us seated and receive the identical entrees within 15 minutes which shows me that the kitchen in not prepared for meals upon opening. Just before Christmas, my wife and I went for lunch at 11 am after an early morning of shopping. We were one of three tables seated but we placed our order first; a cheeseburger and grilled salmon. About 5 minutes later, the large party next to us ordered and they received their meal in about 20 minutes while we still waited. At 41 minutes, our meal finally came and the food was all cold which told me it had been sitting waiting to be delivered. Some of the requested condiments were also not included because the servers that take the orders generally do not deliver the food. We boxed up most of it and took it home rather than eat it cold there. When we got home, rather than post a negative review, I messaged FD's on Facebook and explained our disappointment. A manager contacted me and apologized for the experience and offered a gift card if we would return. I replied that I was not looking for any reimbursement, only to make them aware of what happened. The manager insisted so I provided my address and was assured a gift card would arrive soon. Three week later I messaged back and informed them that I never received the gift card and the least they could do is not promise something and then not deliver. Again they responded with apologies and assured me a new card would be in the mail. Well, two week later, guess what? No gift card! Not that I want the gift card but this seems to tie in with their lack of preparation at opening time, the inability to get hot food out to the table, and the general lack of oversight for the table service in the restaurant. If you love FD's like I used to, make sure you go when it is packed so you can probably get hot food and good service. If you are like me and prefer to dine early, look elsewhere. read more

Triple dip app for $5, ribs for $15 and a ginormous chicken tender salad for $9. Service has always been outstanding and the atmosphere is perfect for date night or families. FD's has an outstanding menu. Something for everybody. The wait staff is always great checking on you numerous times throughout your meal. Inside the restaurant is always comfortable air conditioning, however we were sat to the right "indoor/ outdoor" type seating and it was so warm I sweat the entire meal. Hosted a work dinner here and was super disappointed. Food was actually pretty good. Service was the worst I've had in a long time. Only had one server assigned to our table of 17. That was the first problem. Then 4 wines listed on the list were not available. Then no wine glasses available. Followed by our appetizers coming out before drinks even showed up. No appetizer plates or silverware. It was at this point I voiced loud concerns to the manager. Still only one server...yet 10 servers and 2 managers standing around chatting. Finally started to get some attention and other help to get dinner on track. However, I still had to help them open wine, bus the table and tell them how to serve/suggest wine to the group. Had to ask 4 times where our other bar drinks were. Needless to say this is the last time I host a business dinner there. The price is very moderate compared to the look of the place. Very nice for a lunch or dinner restaurant. I'd recommend trying it for sure. My pineapple chunks were a bit tough, and my wife needed to separate her good salad from the brown leafy pieces. Also, my wife's chicken was dry; although, my chicken breast of the Hawaiian chicken dinner was very moist. I suppose I would give this place another chance, but, on this trip, I'd give it no more than a 3 out of 5. read more
