Fedé is unequivocally, hands down the best Italian meal my wife and I have ever had. Period. End of story. The staff were amazing (friendly and personable without being solicitous), the bartender is clearly a witch (she made the best Old Fashioned my wife had ever had - pure sorcery), and the kitchen put out the tastiest you can imagine (handmade pasta? Really? Now you're just showing off). 14/10 would recommend. And, before you smugly say, "Clearly, they're related to the owners", let me assure you we're not. We got into town late after braving Route 26 during the snowpocalypse of 2023 and were looking for somewhere cozy to have dinner. We found it in spades. Do your taste buds a favor and come here. Impressive is how I would describe this culinary experience. The menu is simple and everything that came out was high quality and simply delicious. I love how you get to choose from several courses as you order, making it feel like more of a journey than a final decision. We enjoyed the marinara pasta and the lamb pasta (incredibly tender and well cooked). Our favorites accompaniments were the marinated mushrooms, the fennel tomato soup, the broccoli, and the house-made bread. Ohmygoodnesssssszzzzzzzzz! This place is amazing. The ambiance, thr decor--so cute. Location is great, of course. The courses are allllll yum. So, I found this place sort of by accident, when wave watching during the epic storms. The meat plate was HUGE. Three days later, I'm still snacking on it. The salad was yummmm not overloaded w vinegar or dressings. Simple, pure, yummm. As food should be served, so you can TASTE their true flavor. Hubby ordered the seafood soup and he was amazed at the wide selection of freshhhh seafood in it. I had a very hard time choosing but went with the rage. Noodles are hand rolled and so thin. (All their pasta is made in house.) Sometimes less is MORE. The sauce was excellent. Then the dessert. Hubs chose the lemon tart and I stole a bite. Flavorful, not oversweet. Perfect. Then, I chose the orange olive oil cake. The dessert of the year for me. I'm going to dream of it. Waitstaff is incredible. Owners are present and active in menu selection. This is NOT Olive Garden. Thus is true Italian food. I would suggest trying it...but I can't. If you try it...I will never be able to get in. Maybe go to Taco Bell. I don't want to ruin my odds at getting a table. This is the best Italian tratatoria in Astoria. Situated on a pier overlooking the Columbia River, it's unassuming exterior hides the excellent food within. We had focaccia and an argula salad for the first courses. The arugula was so fresh in tasted like it was picked 10 minutes ago. A nice bottle of Barbera d'Alba accompanied the meal. The main course was Fettuccine Alfredo with Chanterelle mushrooms, (absolutely fab), and Spaghetti Carbonara; equally excellent. A flour less chocolate tort for dessert. It is a small venue, and fills fast, (no reservations), so get there early and you won't be disappointed. read more

We like to support our local restaurants as well provide a fair assessment. My husband & I have submitted separate reviews. First off we arrived early around 4 pm to enjoy a nice view as the daylight hours are short. We had a table seat next to a large picture window (pics already posted). It was great other than the very loud clattering of pans as they prepped for the evening, unaware perhaps how loud it was. The wait person was delightful, friendly and checked back appropriately all through the evening. I give her a high score for service. We started with the house wine which was pleasant, decent value but not complex which was fine. We tried items from each of the courses available. I will speak to my order only. We had 2 appetizers. They were pleasant and as expected. One was vegetarian and the other with meat. Although I ordered the one with meat I preferred the vegetarian crostini for overall flavor. My salad was a simply country style cucumber, onion, parsley with a olive oil vinaigrette. No salt or pepper was offered. It could be a bit more imaginative with flavor. A fresh, small loaf of rustic bread was tasty, served room temperature. Olive oil or butter was an extra charge. I don't think this is a good idea. My main course was the lasagne. This I would say is one of the best I have had. The pasta sheets were thin, the composition well balanced and flavorful. I would order this again no question. I was full so I didn't order another course other than desert & coffee. I had the orange olive oil cake with fresh whip cream. It was delicately flavored and pleasant. I will try to make this at home. The espresso is from Astoria Roasters where we aways get our beans so this was a plus. Overall we had a pleasant evening and our dinner was acceptable however, I'm not sure I would take visitors to this establishment. If they can get a reliable menu no matter what is ordered. If you base your food service as "fresh", it shouldn't be a reheat. I think there is great opportunity for this place perhaps if they dial it in a bit more. They were open to feedback through our waitress however the owner or chef didn't take the opportunity to come over although there was adequate time. The place got a bit busier after 5pm. read more

Fedé is a foodie's dream! We had the burrata, mafalde, linguine, and panna cotta. Everything was made from fresh, high quality ingredients. You just can't beat fresh bread and fresh pasta. This place should just close. It's obvious they don't want to be here or be in buisness. What is it with this location. It seems like no restaurants seems to last here. Last month we drove an hour to find out they were closed and had gone to Italy. Tonight my handicapped wife walks all the way around to a sign on the door stating that they are closed and not seating anyone. Plenty of tables mind you. It was 5:55. They are supposedly opened until 9:30. They also don't take reservations. I also tried to call them but they don't answer their phone, it's a voicemail saying to email them instead. First time I ate there the meal was bad. The pasta dish was as thick as a meat loaf. I literally had to cut into it. Next time the food was OK - nothing special. Last night the pasta in the marinara sauce was tough and chewy but the sauce was good. My wife had clams that didn't taste right. I will never understand the business tactic behind not accepting reservations to be honest and definitely expected better after showing up at 5:30 and being sat almost at 7. The only saving grace was the deviled eggs. The pasta was overcooked and so gummy. Both pastas needed seasoning. We had to doctor it up adding salt, pepper and crushed red pepper in order for it to resemble something flavored. For a small town I could understand there aren't a lot of options but I definitely won't be waiting for this one again. My spouse and I dined at Fede for the first time 3/1/2025 and had an amazing meal. The host did her best to seat us despite a very busy night. Had a girls weekend in Astoria.... All about the wine and food. Thought we would give Fede a shot. What a disappointment. We tried several red wines trying to find one that was palatable. They were all awful. Finally settled on a bottle of Rose. Ordered the focaccia bread to start, it was dense, flat, tasteless and oily. The entrees were not much better. During our meal the cook burned something with pepper and it caused most of the restaurant to cough uncontrollably. I had to get up from the table and my meal to be able to breath near the door that the staff had opened to try and get some air. The service was less than desirable. We were here for one night. whenever we asked people the best place to eat, their response was Fede. we were warned Fede doesn't take reservations. We arrived to Fede at 7:15pm. Their hours of operation on a Friday night is stated 3:30pm - 9:00pm. The hostess informed us the restaurant was not accepting any more customers. the wait list was four parties. To the owner; if you are not going to accept reservations and you state you are open till 9:00pm, you shouldn't turn customers away at 7:15. Maybe the wait is informed to the customer as long, but don't turn them away. You either accept customers until closing or take reservations!!!!!! read more

***Long, informative review!*** I go into this review with a small amount of bias: I worked under an Italian chef that used to run his own dinner service in Astoria from 2015 to 2017. I moved out of the area shortly after that stint, but I still check the town out from time to time. This place caught my attention, and I decided to check it out. Twice! Night 1 was incredible. We came in around 6:00. * The mortadella crostini was a very good appetizer. Mortadella, artichoke, EVOO and good bread? Hell yeah. * The romaine salad with albacore was much better than I would have expected. It had the subtle nuances of a caesar salad, with chunks of albacore laden throughout. * The spaghetti carbonara was absolutely incredible. I hadn't had carbonara that good since the last time I was in Brooklyn. The thick, but loose emulsification of the eggs, guanciale fat, pecorino and pasta water was perfection. And housemade spaghetti, to boot! * The yellow bean dish with vinegar, white wine, garlic and EVOO was perfection. Perfect side dish. Night 2 was noticeably less impressive than night 1. We came in shortly after they opened, around 3:30. * The deviled eggs were pretty good. Well prepared, but, yaknow, nothing spectacular. * The creste di gallo dish with eggplant, tomato, cheese (don't remember what it was specifically) was pretty underwhelming. The tomato sauce was pretty acidic, and the eggplant almost tasted like it was simmered from raw in the sauce. Salt would have helped the dish tremendously - all I was able to taste was pasta and undercooked tomato. * The madalde, in the style of cacio e pepe, was delicious. I would have been impressed if they managed to mess this up. * Ravioli with ricotta, fennel, salmon... man, that was not very good. Either the pasta was worked too much, or it was undercooked, like below al dente. To boot, it tasted like an overwhelmingly bright salmon pâté, with nothing to balance that flavor. Cooks should always taste their food before sending it out - I would have not sent this out. * Additionally, someone at my table got the clam linguine - it was very dry, with almost no brodo, and incredibly underwhelming. I encouraged him to save bread for the brodo before it came out, but there wasn't much to speak of when it was served. The drinks, although good, were all entirely too sweet. I was surprised to find the amaro nonino to be the least sweet drink I had. At the end of the day, Fede is doing Astoria a huge favor by being around and providing its food to the community. I'm hopeful that this place will become the best restaurant in Astoria. read more

The place was almost empty, but we were told they were booked for parties over 4 for the rest of the evening! My friends and I came in last night around 7pm, 4 adults and a 5 year old. We are local and we're hoping to love this place but it was a sad disappointment. They don't take reservations so you will be waiting. The location is great, right in the water, open kitchen sty restaurant. The drinks are the best part of the experience. The olives were good, bread good, service good. I got the carbonara and I have made better at home. My husband got the octopus and it was more like over salted charred crispy chicken, he couldn't even eat it all it was so salty. My guys friend got the seafood soup and he said the mussels tasted frozen and the soup was Luke warm. I Should start by saying I have bad food karma so hopefully, my experience is an exception but I somehow doubt that. My wife and I tried out this restaurant for the first time with high hopes. To be fair, my wife had a very enjoyable meal that she would rate highly. Me on the other hand, well read on. The second course consisted of a salad with arugula as the leafy green. The arugula had some freezer burn and was a bit leggy. By that I politely mean, the leaves were overly mature, making them even more bitter than usual. Next I had the lamb dish which was just fine but unimaginative. Then the problem dish arrived. Pork shoulder. Frankly it looked a bit odd. The carrots looked like something I remembered from middle school. Oddly for me and for some instinctive reason I started pulling the meat apart to take a closer look. My first impression was the fat seemed to have a odd consistency. Then came my big mistake, I eat a piece! It was a gross combination of reheated warm and freezer cold. In that moment it was as if the lipstick has been wiped clean off the pig. They were just reheating food! After a minute or two the person waiting our table asked if everything was OK. I explained the above and was then asked if I would like something else. That was it, not even an acknowledgment of this epic mistake from the chef or the owner, who were standing not more than 20 feet away from me. And by the way, this was 5 o'clock in the afternoon and the restaurant was, well almost empty. My hopes were high for this place, but it seems they are making the classic chef Ramsey mistake. The menu is far too ambitious and the food has an inconsistency found in restaurants that are taking short cuts to make life easier for themself but will inevitably drive customers elsewhere. If you are thinking of trying this resteraunt, they maybe worth a try but proceed with caution. For me, reheated food especially pork isn't my thing, sorry. read more
