Federal is the last of the Postino family restaurants I had yet to try, and it definitely lived up to the great food and service of all the other locations. It was a busy Friday night, but we were able to get seats and the bar right away and had the most wonderful bartender serve us. He gave wonderful wine recommendations and was very accommodating to my indecisiveness by letting me sample 2 of the reds before making up my mind. The bolognese pasta was so delicious and was the perfect amount, no left overs here! They were also able to do a 1/2 and 1/2 pizza which was great so that we were able to try out 2 different pizzas and now know that the prosciutto pizza with arugula is the winner. A friend recommended this place so figured why not give a try. Had a reservation at 8pm but they were able to seat us around 7:30 which was very nice. Pretty casual ambiance and decor but the staff were very sweet and attentive. Started out with the loaded brussels which were so delicious, considering they are brussel sprouts. Would 100% get them again, we keep eating them throughout our dinner. Love how they are able to mix and match their pizzas, which allowed us to try a bit of everything. We did 1/2 big star,1/2 pepperoni with hot honey for the first pizza and then 1/2 casanova, 1/2 flamin lips for the other one. The Big Star was my personal favorite, the flavor combinations, smokeyness, the spices, and overall presentation was amazing. Will most definitely order that one again! The pepperoni with hot honey was a perfect balance of sweet and savory, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Wasn't a big fan of the casanova but the flamin lips was great, especially if you love a nice kick! Federal pizza is one of my FAVORITE places. Chicken parm is amazing and the sweet potato pizza is so good! But, what's even better is the staff! Jay and Taylor are absolutely wonderful. I love love love this place! There is a good amount of seating inside and outside. Usually, they have a long wait so make sure to plan accordingly. They have unique pizza toppings and I have yet to try something that isn't yummy. We ordered 2 pizzas, garlic bread and wings for 3 people and we were unable able to finish it all (we tend to eat a lot). Highly recommend adding an egg to your pizza if you're into venturing out from the norm. The service is the only downside to this establishment. Let me preface this by saying I usually have a great experience here. Unfortunately that was not the case during this visit. Ordering Online - once we placed our order online, it gave us an estimated pickup time of 45 minutes later. We arrived 3 minutes early (just in case) and didn't get our food until 60 minutes after ordering. We had a salad in our order, but didn't receive any utensils even though we requested 3 sets. Normally that wouldn't matter, but when you're staying at a hotel, it's a major inconvenience. Drive Thru - I don't recommend using this on busy nights since it gets crowded and there aren't that many pickup parking spots. Since people don't necessarily arrive in the order that the food is ready, they will most likely direct you to the parking spots in between them and Joyride. Food - I love their pizza! I recommend the meatball pizza since they make their own meatballs. They also have a good chopped salad, although I wish the lettuce was more chopped up (it's more like wild greens). I've been here before to dine in and I think I would stick to that in the future. They don't have a ton of seating inside, but I've had good service before. read more

A go-to in Phoenix! I came here a bunch of times with friends, family, out-of-towners, and coworkers. It was a really solid spot; definitely got busy on Mondays and Tuesdays because they had their bottle/pitcher and pizza for $20 deal, but it's since gone up to $30 (ughhh inflation). Honestly, still a great deal, but knowing/remembering the really good days stings just a bit. I tried a lot of their dishes over the years - wings were delicious (buffalo and windsor gold). Casanova, At Last, and Flaming Lips pizza were phenomenal and the pasta always hit the spot. You really couldn't go wrong with anything on the menu. It was also always vibrant and lively, service was great, and, especially with the mon/tue night specials, great value for money. I loved it enough to come outside of that window too though! I brought my girlfriend here last night for her birthday and it was one of the poorest excuses for service I've experienced in a long time and worst of all she's been in and out of the bathroom all day as a result from eating here. While we were waiting for our food we watched as one of the people behind the line stretched pizza dough around their entire forearm, which is incredibly unhygienic. Furthermore, we had to switch our sodas from Dr. Pepper to Coke because the Dr. Pepper from the tap tasted unclean and flat. We also ordered two orders of the crispy mozzarella appetizer and they were luke warm bordering on cold. We would have sent it back, but one of the many servers we had treated us like we were inconveniencing him any time we needed a sauce, a refill of a drink, or had any questions. There was no structure to the dining experience and we had to go out of our way to get anyone's attention. For our entrees we ordered the meatball pizza with added sausage and pepperoni and the other couple we were with ordered the pepperoni pizza and wings. The pizzas were extremely lackluster for what should be the highlight of this restaurant and worst of all I think it's what made my girlfriend sick. We would have been better off getting dominos or papa john's at this rate considering the terrible quality for the price we paid here. Based on the Yelp listing, we dined here during a recent visit to Phoenix. Hubby's sister flew in on Saturday, and we picked her up before proceeding to the restaurant. We had no reservation, but the wait was reasonable for a weekend evening. Our server, Willow, took good care of us, as well as provided a delicious dessert recommendation. Sis enjoyed her glass of Prosecco with a heaping plate of Garganelli. Hubby teased his sister for her vegetable entree, while he wolfed down the Lamb Bolognese. Did I just become a regular here? Came here for a quick bite after work with my husband. Did I mention we are big fans of the Blueberry Hibiscus wine cooler. We ordered a Pineapple Express pizza and 15pc wings (half buffalo/half honey hot) our pizza came out super fast! As usual, the wings were amazing! About a minute later one of the staff members tells us they are making us another pizza because they accidentally put goat cheese on the first one when they should've put mozzarella. What this review is really about is that not very many restaurants will be proactive enough to catch a mistake and fix it without the customer knowing. That is integrity and I truly respect that! The pepperoni pizza had a crispy artisan crust with tiny pepperonis that cup when it cooks. These are the only pepperonis I want from now on! The wings were your average buffalo wings BUT, with their homemade ranch... yum! The ranch takes the cake here. I could probably drink it. We dropped over $100 on 3 pizzas, a pasta, and a small salad and didn't feel like the usual Federal quality was there. The crust on the Hawaiian was so flimsy and underdone, some of the toppings slid right off. The middle of the pizza was just kind of a mushy mess. And the pepperoni pan pizza had hardly any cheese on it. It was basically just a lot of sauce and not very much pepperoni. The beef Bolognese pasta was fine. Nothing great, and not nearly as good as when it used to come with lamb. Sad to say the side salad was the highlight for me, although a bit pricey for the tiny portion. Placed an order for pick-up while we were in the area. Great gluten-free pizza here! SiSi helped us, and she was awesome. Not just because we had service with a smile, but because she took the time to answer questions about ingredients, and even talked to the staff in back to get answers. If you are gluten-free because of celiac disease or an allergy, let them know. They will bake it in a separate oven and make sure to use a clean pizza cutter. If you just order gluten-free without specifying allergy, it will be baked with all the other pizzas. Also, they cannot guarantee cross contamination. Not many places do. Since April, they have officially had a full bar! Specialty cocktails, local craft beers including 4 Pigs, and Greenwood. A nice wine list, also offering some local brands, italian etc.. They rotate both! It is warmer than most places on a hot day in the early afternoon. Not too bad. Love that they have a drive-thru, though I haven't taken advantage of it yet. They have always been busy, yet still attentive, super friendly, and fast every visit. Our gluten-free cheese pizzas were great. They have the loose flour at the bottom of the pizza which makes it taste like a traditional pizza. I was assured it was just rice flour. I work for a delivery platform and have picked up orders from this location multiple times. Unfortunately, every single time I arrive, the order is not ready often not even close to being completed. What makes this especially frustrating is the consistent lack of accountability from management. I have politely requested to speak with a manager on several occasions, and the response is always the same "It's not our fault," "There's nothing we can do," or "If you don't want to wait, you can leave the order." This response is dismissive and completely ignores the fact that delivery drivers are working on tight schedules, just like the customers who are waiting for their food. Delivery drivers are not paid to stand around indefinitely. Our time is just as valuable as the restaurant's and the customer's. Repeated delays negatively affect driver ratings, customer satisfaction, and the overall reputation of the business. Being told repeatedly that no one can take responsibility or make adjustments reflects very poorly on the management running this location. At this point, the issue does not seem to be occasional delays it appears to be a systemic management and workflow problem. If orders cannot be completed on time, then pickup times need to be adjusted, staffing needs to be reevaluated, or management needs to take ownership and communicate honestly instead of deflecting responsibility. I strongly encourage the owner or upper management to review how this location is being managed, as the current approach is disrespectful to delivery drivers and unfair to customers. This restaurant has the potential to do better, but meaningful changes need to start with leadership and accountability. read more

I had a cheese pizza from the newer Federal on Tatum Blvd. It was tasteless, severely undercooked, almost no sauce, and weak on the cheese. I've had much better cheap frozen pizza. After suffering through 2 slices, I added garlic, oregano, basil and black olives and heated it more until at least a little crispy and then it had some flavor. We had to wait about 25mins for a seat; inside they have limited seating for the waiting area & you can also seat outside under the spritzers. Had found this place on Yelp sometime back and book marked it as we wanted to try. Had finally had that opportunity a few days ago, as was in the area that evening so decided to stop in. The vibe was like old school Rustic Italian. What really stood out was the beautiful long bar and the throw back color schemes of the vintage style cushioned back restaurant booths. Definitely well-established interior design with history which was really inviting. We were so looking forward to the wings and pizza, so decided on the honey hot wings & the pepperoni pizza with additional basil and roasted garlic which were charged dollar $ each for those added ingredients. Started with the wings which were decent. More honey flavor than hot. We didn't care for the blue cheese dip, it was to fermented in a blue cheese note for our liking. Pizza arrived shortly after when we were almost finished with our wings. It was a 12" hand tossed and then baked in a wood fire oven. It came to the table looking appealing, but first slice in; fairly disappointing. Generally, not a huge fan of the wood oven flare because it tends to be slightly bubbled & the crust often can burn on the bottom of the pie/ which is exactly what happened with ours. Many people have an appeal to this method, but in my opinion the dark char takes over the full flavor of the entire experience. The sauce tasted straight out of the can with no additional seasoning. Very bland. Not much basil or garlic was added ( for the fee they charge). Overall have had much much better. Note- The pizzas, typically suitable for two to share, are all available in half sizes during the middle of the day as part of a "Double Down" lunch special. They do offer salads and pastas on the menu as well. Staff was pleasant and again atmosphere was attractive. Suggest to go during their off hours as seating for the establishment is limited (narrow) in dining capacity, so not a lot of seating during prime times which will allow for long waits. read more
