First time trying this pizzeria after hearing great things about their wood-fired pizza. I'm always a fan of wood-fired oven pizza, so I was excited to check it out. The patio is great, and they have a solid selection of beer, wine, and other beverages, along with a varied menu of apps, salad and pizza. The server recommended the Lil Pep pizza as a good starter if you're unsure what to order. I asked about the size and was told the pizzas were about 8 inches round, but when it arrived it was much larger than expected so easily enough for two people. Taste-wise, the pizza was meh. The sauce leaned a bit salty, though it was still edible. Overall, the food was just okay for me; not bad, but not standout. The server brought over a complementary dessert called Pavlova. It was a meringue with whipped cream on it and it was very light and fresh. That said, the service was excellent, very attentive and friendly. The ambiance was enjoyable. While it wasn't the New York-style pizza I was hoping for, the food was decent and the prices were reasonable. A glass of wine and a full pizza came to about $40 with tax and tip, which felt fair price for one person dining. read more

Stopped by after my Pilates class for a salad. The bartender/server was so sweet, very bubbly. I got the Pear and Rocket salad with no cheese and shrimp in the side. Easy on the stomach, tasty and healthy. The shrimp was also perfectly cooked, not overly cooked and the tail was taken off -which I always prefer. If you're looking for a down to earth restaurant you found the right place. In the day it's a nice place for lunch not too busy but very quiet. Base has a patio for the dogs with exceptional views of Piestewa Peak or Squaw Peak if you are a true Phoenician. At night the ambience and atmosphere is not to loud and the staff are so very nice and welcoming you feel like part of the family. The food OMG everything we had was delicious. Started with the Foccia bread with the garlic dipping sauce. Perfect!. Next moved to the largest Ceasar salad, yummy. Pizza was amazing and best part had the chocolate date cake covered in Toffee Caramel drizzel baked to perfection then a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream. Another hot summer day in Phoenix and looking to eat out, avoiding heating up the house. Base Pizzeria has been gaining in local buzz with really good quality food and atmosphere. Reservations are a must and take outs are allowed only after 8:00 so dine-in patrons are ensured a delicious pie. Base was packed on Thursday at 5. We were seated and noted the great smell of pizzas whipping around the restaurant. The wait staff is hopping from table to table and very friendly. We ordered a caprese salad with cool, crisp watermelon wedges covered with mozzarella, EVOO drizzle, honey, and basil. This will blow you away in the hot Phoenix summer. The cold and flavorful watermelon was delicious when coupled with the other ingredients. I will steal this pairing for dinner parties. Thank you Base Pizzeria. The Meaty One was our pizza of choice today. The organic tomatoes, pepperoni, homemade pork fennel sausage and soppressatta served on a thin crust pizza was perfect. The crust chew was spot-on. Treat yourself to a good local haunt serving delicious pizzas and innovative salads. We have added Base Pizzeria to our neighborhood hot spots. It appears other locals have done the same. We were not expecting much and this place is a bit north of where we usually go, but the pizza is truly delicious. The crust had a nice flavor and it was crispy. The sauce and the toppings perfectly complimented the crust. The service was great and it had a nice patio to sit and enjoy the pizza. Yummy! The Bossco pizza features sausage with fennel, pepperoni, green pepper, and an unusual twist of Kalamata olives! You can try this at home, but their pizza oven makes a perfect crust and a delicious pizza. We had a friendly waitress, who didn't ask if we wanted dessert. Maybe because we ate the whole pizza. No leftovers, sadly! Their menu has red sauce pizzas and white pizzas. Plus an array of cocktails. I do have a favorite pizza place in the Valley, but this place not only has great pizza but an incredible view from their patio. Now when I want a pizza, I have two favorite places. read more

Popped in to have an early dinner with my husband. It was a hot day but in the shade and the misters going it felt so great to be able to eat outside and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains. Veronica was such an amazing server. She gave great recommendations and was extremely attentive. We ended up having drinks, an appetizer, pizzas and desert. Everything was so good. I haven't been here in a while and truly think the food has only gotten better. The watermelon caprese was so simple yet amazing. I'll be recreating this all summer long. We are in town staying at the Biltmore. I love good pizza and after reading the reviews here, I call to make sure we can get in they say "C'mon over" so we uber over, get there at 8:20 (9pm closing) time. Walk in and they were closing down early and said "Sorry Guys" So...we walk over to L'Amore and wow! What a great restaurant! I had the Caesars salad which was cold crispy and fresh. I'm always driving by this restaurant and saying that I have to try it. Today was the day and I wasn't disappointed. Base is situated at the corner of 32nd and Lincoln. The views from the patio is quite spectacular as Piestawa Peak is immediately north of this place. The patio is spacious and has about 8 tables. The inside has a relaxed ambiance with a distinct Italian flavor even though there are empty coffee sacks on the wall. We ordered the Bossco pizza as it had sausage with fennel on it. The pizza was very tasty. The Kalamata olives added a nice touch as well as flavor. It also had pepperoni, green peppers and onions on top so the overall presentation of the pizza was very inviting. Our waitress was very efficient and explained the specials clearly. She delivered our pizza promptly so we were eating within 15 minutes of arriving. My Huss kolsch was also excellent. Parking is never a problem as the parking lot is large. Overall an excellent experience and I highly recommend this pizzeria. read more

I LOVE pizza, specifically wood fired pizza and have been searching the valley for the best slice. Base Pizzeria did not disappoint! The wood fired pizza is so flavorful, with thin and crispy crust. The bruschetta is so fresh with bread toasted just right for a crunch that isn't too much. The staff is so friendly and easy to talk to. They were decorating for Christmas when we came in and played with my friends daughter when she wanted the decorations they had. The patio is a good size, with a lot of heaters. My boyfriend's parents took us here after seeing it on a Yelp list of top 100 pizza places in the US and they did not disappoint! I think their Burrata Tomata is now one of my favorite pizzas ever - at least top 3! The burrata is so good on there and it's a delicious take on a margherita pizza. Also their crust is amazing. It's thin but has such a good chewy texture. The crust honestly was something to write home about. We also had their El Diablo pizza which was yummy too, but the only thing is I wish we ate it first because the red sauce quickly "soggy-fied" the pizza dough, so the crust didn't hit the same as the tomata burrata. I recommend eating your wetter pizza first if you get more than one (and probably avoid doing to-go because of their pizza dough texture). I guess I'm going backwards in this review, so lastly are the appetizers - the Pear and Rocket salad, and Brussels and Bacon. The Pear and Rocket was really good. The dressing was tart and light, the arugula was fresh, and the pear complemented the dish well. The Brussels and Bacon was good too, but honestly I could've skipped this for something else. The brussels weren't crispy, but the bacon and thick cut parmesan were a nice touch. All in all, we'll have to come back again because I'm already craving the Burrata Tomata! Also, this place gets busy for dinner, so I recommend making reservations! read more

We're regular customers but nothing good ever seems to last. My daughter loves the pizza and as a family we loved to share the meat and cheese board, but of course now they've cut out some of the cheeses and some of the meats on it. It used to be well filled, now the board is bald--not nearly as exciting. Disappointing. read more

Came in for lunch and quickly greeted by Meg, who was very pleasant and the service was great as well. We ordered the two pizzas, the Base w/ garlic and a abase with onion, sausage and mushrooms. They were delicious and fresh and full of flavor. Then came dessert, we chose the Berry Cobbler and the Pavlova. WOW, all homemade and fresh and so yummy!!! Nice ambiance and atmosphere, very warm and comfortable. Nice selection of adult beverages. Highly recommend and will be back for sure when we are in town. This pizza was so good we forgot to take a picture until we each had two pieces - as you can see from our pictures (we couldn't help ourselves!!) We got the pizza delivered to us by UberEats, and we're glad we did - the experience was quick and easy! Our two choices: the Sweet and Spicy & the Cowboy Ranch. Loved both!! Putting brisket on pizza can be a risky move, but Base nailed it. It was high-quality meat, and it went perfectly with the other sauces / toppings. The Sweet and Spicy tasted like my Italian Grandfather's spaghetti. So so good! Really simple - sausage and jalapeños are the only real toppings, but the red sauce is unbelievable. Would certainly recommend this pizza, and coming to Base for a meal! While we clearly didn't eat in the restaurant, the take out was super good. 10/10 pizza, highly recommend if you're in the Phoenix area! read more

Heard about this place through a local Facebook group and decided to try it out. Read some reviews which were positive and booked a table (through OpenTable) The place is in a good location and is nicely set up. Decor is a little 'Irish pub style' but that's nothing new for an Australian owned joint. It created a familiar setting for us very quickly. The smell of the pizzas in the pizza oven could be smelt immediately we sat down, stimulating our senses of smell. Was a great start! Service is great, with lots of banter from the owners (who also wait & serve). Total hands on approach from the business. Food is pretty good - started with a beer & cider, the Ploughman's Platter which was great and a Rossco pizza. And a bottle of Aussie red vino! The wine list is mainly American, predominantly Napa wines and a limited smattering from Italy and Australia. It would be nice to see a little more great Aussie wines on the list, considering the heritage of the owners - but this is not a detractor - the wines are well chosen and compliment the menu choices well. Some previous reviewers had said it was fairly expensive - I guess that it's subjective to many, but it certainly was reminiscent of Australian restaurant prices - on the higher side of what many Americans would normally pay for pizza and antipasto platters. It's certainly more expensive than other choices for pizzerias in the area, however the food and atmosphere is great. You get what you pay for right? Overall, this restaurant has a well-established local following, and there are definitely local Aussies who support this establishment. A woman (and her husband) who sat behind us was also from Australia - close to where I lived when home also. I heard her say they heard I was from Sydney whilst talking with the owner. Had an early dinner here with another couple. They had an older dog in a buggy and we had a very sweet smaller dog who befriended a couple at the next table. When they left, the table next to us remained open until a couple came over, and were horrified to see a dog sitting near the table. They complained so I pulled our dog so that she was under my chair. Within a little amount of time she had wandered a few feet over at which time the owner complained "this is how we make our money I can't have anyone calling the authorities to complain". What ?? We were in a small area, and within a few minutes, a young fellow with a large black dog came over, and we all started chatting and interacting and it was wonderful. The owner then said nothing since this was a frequent customer. Perhaps they should have a designated area for dogs, so that the people who are absolutely dog haters, can go sit elsewhere. First time trying Base and we had a pretty good experience! Came here on a Saturday night with 7pm reservations and were promptly seated. The service was amazing! Ordered the el diablo and burrata pizza - we preferred the burrata one. While both pizzas were good, the el diablo was a little under done for us so it felt like the pizza was slightlyyyyy soggy.
