    Prosecco with a view

Positively perfect pizza, Prosecco and a perfectly pristine patio with a view Meghan and her brothers really know how to make a pizza, and they really know how to treat people. Awesome service. By the way, their salads are insane. I love this place for the ambience, for the food, for the drinks, and for the welcoming atmosphere. Tuesdays are half-price pizzas, which allows me to order several each time. This is a weekly event when I am able.

Scrumptious watermelon wedges caprese salad, Homerun!

Another hot summer day in Phoenix and looking to eat out, avoiding heating up the house. Base Pizzeria has been gaining in local buzz with really good quality food and atmosphere. Reservations are a must and take outs are allowed only after 8:00 so dine-in patrons are ensured a delicious pie. Base was packed on Thursday at 5. We were seated and noted the great smell of pizzas whipping around the restaurant. The wait staff is hopping from table to table and very friendly. We ordered a caprese salad with cool, crisp watermelon wedges covered with mozzarella, EVOO drizzle, honey, and basil. This will blow you away in the hot Phoenix summer. The cold and flavorful watermelon was delicious when coupled with the other ingredients. I will steal this pairing for dinner parties. Thank you Base Pizzeria. The Meaty One was our pizza of choice today. The organic tomatoes, pepperoni, homemade pork fennel sausage and soppressatta served on a thin crust pizza was perfect. The crust chew was spot-on. Treat yourself to a good local haunt serving delicious pizzas and innovative salads. We have added Base Pizzeria to our neighborhood hot spots. It appears other locals have done the same. Great job, Base.

    The Bossco

Yummy! The Bossco pizza features sausage with fennel, pepperoni, green pepper, and an unusual twist of Kalamata olives! You can try this at home, but their pizza oven makes a perfect crust and a delicious pizza. We had a friendly waitress, who didn't ask if we wanted dessert. Maybe because we ate the whole pizza. No leftovers, sadly! Their menu has red sauce pizzas and white pizzas. Plus an array of cocktails. I do have a favorite pizza place in the Valley, but this place not only has great pizza but an incredible view from their patio. Now when I want a pizza, I have two favorite places.

I'm always driving by this restaurant and saying that I have to try it. Today was the day and I wasn't disappointed. Base is situated at the corner of 32nd and Lincoln. The views from the patio is quite spectacular as Piestawa Peak is immediately north of this place. The patio is spacious and has about 8 tables. The inside has a relaxed ambiance with a distinct Italian flavor even though there are empty coffee sacks on the wall. We ordered the Bossco pizza as it had sausage with fennel on it. The pizza was very tasty. The Kalamata olives added a nice touch as well as flavor. It also had pepperoni, green peppers and onions on top so the overall presentation of the pizza was very inviting. Our waitress was very efficient and explained the specials clearly. She delivered our pizza promptly so we were eating within 15 minutes of arriving. My Huss kolsch was also excellent. Parking is never a problem as the parking lot is large. Overall an excellent experience and I highly recommend this pizzeria.

I LOVE pizza, specifically wood fired pizza and have been searching the valley for the best slice. Base Pizzeria did not disappoint! The wood fired pizza is so flavorful, with thin and crispy crust. The bruschetta is so fresh with bread toasted just right for a crunch that isn't too much. The staff is so friendly and easy to talk to. They were decorating for Christmas when we came in and played with my friends daughter when she wanted the decorations they had. The patio is a good size, with a lot of heaters. They even had blankets sitting at each table for guests!

pear and rocket salad and brussels and bacon app - the salad was really refreshing!

My boyfriend's parents took us here after seeing it on a Yelp list of top 100 pizza places in the US and they did not disappoint! I think their Burrata Tomata is now one of my favorite pizzas ever - at least top 3! The burrata is so good on there and it's a delicious take on a margherita pizza. Also their crust is amazing. It's thin but has such a good chewy texture. The crust honestly was something to write home about. We also had their El Diablo pizza which was yummy too, but the only thing is I wish we ate it first because the red sauce quickly "soggy-fied" the pizza dough, so the crust didn't hit the same as the tomata burrata. I recommend eating your wetter pizza first if you get more than one (and probably avoid doing to-go because of their pizza dough texture). I guess I'm going backwards in this review, so lastly are the appetizers - the Pear and Rocket salad, and Brussels and Bacon. The Pear and Rocket was really good. The dressing was tart and light, the arugula was fresh, and the pear complemented the dish well. The Brussels and Bacon was good too, but honestly I could've skipped this for something else. The brussels weren't crispy, but the bacon and thick cut parmesan were a nice touch. All in all, we'll have to come back again because I'm already craving the Burrata Tomata! Also, this place gets busy for dinner, so I recommend making reservations!

If your looking for delicious pizza, craft beer, and a panoramic view of the Phoenix Mountains, look no further, Base Pizzera has arrived. Base Pizzera offers so many options for toppings, on this visit we shared the "The Base" and it did not diappoint. Our pizza was just right combination of crust, quality toppings, and the sauce had a great taste.  Their pizzas are just classic and delicious. We finished off with a huge slice of the pavlova. I wish we would have ordered a larger pizza so we could have taken some home. If you're in the area give this place a try. Staff is amazing, food is delicious, the service is great, and the views are amazing.

Ask the Community - Base Pizzeria

    Is this Neapolitan styled pizza?

I wouldn't call it strictly Neapolitan. It's slightly puffier and chewier. Their crust is some of the best tasting crust I've ever had. It certainly not thick at all. Hope that helps.

Do they have gluten free pizza crust?

Yes! They do have gluten free pizza crust. They also has vegan cheese.

The Vodka pizza had no detectable sauce on it either. It also tasted just like cheese bread. I don't know if its because of different pizza makers or the new standard, but I was disappointed. You can also get a whole pie of your choice. They grate fresh parm on all the slices which I thought was a nice touch. The girl at the register seemed very knowledgeable about all the pizzas and gave us lots of details and recommendations which we appreciated. First we got the green, di Parma, and the Phoenix. The green has pistachios and fresh arugula on it, I thought the overall flavor was too sweet and the pistachios weren't crush enough. The Phoenix was good, very honey forward and overall the flavor didn't stick out to me. The di Parma was a cheese pizza with procuttio and ricotta, overall a little plain to me. I think they all would've tasted better hot, but I understand that's not super realistic for a slice shop. For our second order we got the vodka sauce slice, which was for sure my favorite. First of all it was piping hot, and that elevated the whole experience. I thought the sauce was so flavorful and savory, and the basil made a perfect bite. I would go back for a whole pie of this! I really liked the prices here, we got dinner for less than $25 for 2. I wouldn't mind coming back to try some other slices and get a pie of the vodka!

I won't add to my previous review regarding the food, as it is still just as fantastic. And while the old location had its charm (mainly that it was more intimate and a bit quieter), the new location is overall an immense improvement. First of all, it is much larger, modern, and very tastefully decorated without losing as much of the intimacy as they could keep. For instance, the decor on the walls makes you feel like you are somewhat at home, with photos of the Spinato family and other tasteful finishes. Everything is comfortable without being too casual or formal. It's definitely more open concept now, and bar-lovers will appreciate the full bar, as the old location only had a tiny one. The covered patio area is much nicer, and with an eastern exposure, it should bake in the sun less than the old place's western exposure for most of their operating hours. We were seated at a half-booth, and the restaurant was very crowded because it was their first Friday night at this location. Nonetheless, we arrived early enough to be seated without a wait. I will say that the food took a very long time to arrive--40 minutes or more--but I'm chalking that up to the crowd and growing pains at the new location. Our server recognized us, welcomed us to the new place, and was as friendly as usual, though he didn't have much time for chat-chat with how busy they were. Lil Capo Pizzeria 5.0/5 The Closest Thing to New York…read morePizza I've Found in Arizona Growing up in Upstate New York, I admittedly have high standards when it comes to pizza. After moving to Arizona in 2007, I've spent years searching for a slice that genuinely reminds me of home. While there are plenty of decent pizza spots throughout the Valley, very few capture that authentic New York style. Lil Capo Pizzeria absolutely does! Ironically, I first discovered Lil Capo after an Arizona Cardinals game. Like many people, I wasn't interested in paying stadium prices for mediocre food, so I jumped on Yelp looking for something nearby. Lil Capo had outstanding reviews, so we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did because it's now my benchmark for New York-style pizza in Arizona. The first thing that stood out was the crust. This is exactly what a New York slice should be--thin, crispy on the bottom, slightly chewy inside, sturdy enough to fold, and never overloaded with grease. So many places think "New York style" simply means making a large slice. Lil Capo understands it's really about the balance of crust, sauce, cheese, and texture. Every bite reminded me why I miss pizza back east. The sauce has just the right amount of sweetness and acidity, the cheese is perfectly proportioned, and everything tastes fresh without trying to reinvent what already works. Sometimes simplicity executed well is the hardest thing to accomplish. Pizza: 5/5 Service was equally impressive. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and efficient. After selecting our slices, they quickly reheated them to perfection and had them on our table within minutes. It's exactly what you want from a neighborhood pizzeria--fast, relaxed, and genuinely hospitable. Service: 5/5 I also appreciated the atmosphere. Lil Capo isn't trying to be flashy or trendy. Instead, it has that classic neighborhood pizzeria feel where the focus stays exactly where it should--on making outstanding pizza. It's casual, comfortable, family-friendly, and somewhere you could easily become a regular. The pricing is another pleasant surprise. Considering the quality of the pizza and the generous slice sizes, I found everything to be very fairly priced. Overall Finding authentic New York-style pizza in Arizona has been surprisingly difficult over the years, but Lil Capo delivers exactly what I've been searching for. Authentic New York-style crust Excellent sauce-to-cheese ratio Minimal grease Friendly, efficient service Fair prices Comfortable neighborhood atmosphere I've eaten pizza throughout New York my entire life, and Lil Capo remains the closest I've found to the real thing anywhere in Arizona. Whenever I'm on the west side of the Valley--or heading to or from a Cardinals game--I find myself looking for an excuse to stop in. Next time, I'm skipping the slices and ordering an entire pie. If you're a fellow New Yorker living in Arizona and craving a slice that tastes like home, Lil Capo should be at the top of your list.
