Federales delivers where it counts -- the tacos. The quality is genuinely there: fresh ingredients, good flavors, and the kind of street taco experience that's hard to find. Whether you go for the birria or something classic, you can tell there's real care put into the food. Service was fine, nothing to write home about. While walking through Acorn Alley we noticed Federales Street Tacos and noticed they also have margaritas. Since it was a street down from where we were staying we decided to stop in for a margarita. The servers were very nice and they have TVs, soccer was on last night. But also had music playing. Our drinks were brought out to us and very good. I'm happy we tried another new place downtown Kent! read more

Entering was like stepping into a rainbow. The colorful decor and murals surrounded us in all directions. We went on a quiet weekday late afternoon. We were the only customers there for the duration of our visit. The music inside was very loud. So loud that we could not converse with each other. Our waiter was polite but when he wasn't tending to us, he was behind the counter on his phone singing to match the volume of the country music playing. The street tacos were excellent. I didn't care for the salsa verde but the other green sauce served was tasty. Good food, not the best overall experience. read more

Newly opened taco joint in the former Twisted Meltz space in Acorn Alley. Ordering is quick and familiar if you are used to the assembly-line setup of the mainstream chain that will not be named here. The difference is that there is a wider variety of selections and the flavor is a level above without being overpriced. The ingredients were fresh and everything was tasty. There is a bar and from the photos on the website it looks like they have a nice selection of margaritas but we did not partake on this visit. The place was spotlessly clean and the staff was friendly. Looking forward to trying more of the menu soon! read more

Ordered the extra-large burrito to go early afternoon. It was less than optimal. The order taker asked if I wanted steak or chicken - no mention of the other items, e.g., Carnitas or Chorizos. She did not ask how I wanted the steak, e.g., Grilled or Birria meat. She did not ask Would you like to add toppings? It was a bunch of chopped-up mystery meat with taco seasoning sauce sprinkled on top. First Mexican restaurant I have encountered that does not offer refried beans. Now my fault for not looking and ordering online. Their fault for not asking about how I wanted the meat and what toppings. Bummer. read more

Decorated with a strong Mexican motif but well done. There is a full bar and TVs. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Ordering is setup as fast casual. I had the pastor tacos. Great flavor, much better than most Mexican style restaurants which I find boring and bland. Felt it was a little pricy for the value. read more

The food is made fresh and is outstanding. A modern twist on Mexican classics. Hands down the best Mexican in Portage/Summit county. The service is attentive and friendly and the margaritas are also the best in the area - made with fresh ingredients at the bar and full of flavor. This is my new go-to spot for Mexican. Food was fantastic! We also got a margarita to share as well between my mom and me. Alexis and Dennis did an AMAZING job holding down the fort even when it got busy. They made sure that I had everything I needed when I needed to pack my remaining food, and they were very efficient! We stopped in for dinner and Federales easily became one of our favorite restaurants in Kent. Their menu features a lot of variety compared to a traditional Mexican restaurant. The service and ambiance is very nice, no complaints there. I would also recommend giving their margaritas a try, they are very good. I would also highly recommend their catering services. I've been to a handful of events where the food came from Federales and the food was awesome. Additionally, their prices for catering were fair from what I've heard. It will definitely be considered for future events that I am hosting. read more

Yeah, they do it right. I got the steak street tacos.. they were delicious. The inside is clean and service is great. Definitely ask about spice level of pickled onions and some other toppings if you're not usually able to handle the spice of fresh hot peppers. We also got a pineapple marg which was great! We will most definitely be back on Mondays for their taco and drink specials. This is our new spot for SURE! read more

This place is awesome, dare I say the best tasting Mexican food I've had in Kent. It's a chipotle-like order system and prices with better food and more options. I saw another review say chipotle is so expensive at this point that you might as well take that money and spend it here. I couldn't agree more. Beautiful interior with murals and a small bar to the side. Very kind staff. We were given free chips and small container of salsa with our order for free. I really hope this place is here to stay! read more
