I went to get my hair highlighted. They told me it would be $150.00. I was nearly done getting the highlight when they asked if I wanted a haircut as well. I said just a trim. They trimmed my hair. When I went to pay they said it was $500.00. They claimed that the haircut I got was $350.00. They sprung this on me at the register. This was a classic bait and switch technique. Stay away. They will find a way to trick you into spending hundreds more, without telling you the cost until the end. I never went back, and I recommend no one else go there either. read more

What a beautiful atmosphere. It's bright and clean and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Came here for the first time today to get my hair done by Gladys who has been doing my hair for 20 years and I'd follower her anywhere but I'm really glad this is where she settled. Everyone was friendly from the receptionist who took my call and set up my appointment to the friendly smile greeting people when you walk through the door to the owner who walks around and talks to clients and offers cappuccino, tea, water, whatever you like. The seating is comfortable and though I didn't get the chance to experience it this time another client told me the girl that washes hair gives an amazing head massage. I enjoyed watching the interaction between clients and staff. It seemed they'd been comiNg here for many years and the staff asked about family members and it really gave a warm feeling that they care about their clients here. I go to this salon for Lulu. I followed her from J sister's when they were the only ones doing Brazilian, and over the years I have only gone to Lulu for a bikini or any wax. She is always professional, very fast, does a great job, and I never feel much pain. Even after getting my body a laser treatment which has reduced hair, I still go to her before every trip. I highly highly recommend her. You can't trust anyone else with your privates, and one shouldn't take a risk. I think I have been going to her for 12-15 years? I don't really know. It was SO sad when the J sisters dispersed, truly the pioneers for Brazilian wax. I will continue to go to Lulu till I am an old lady!! I was looking for a place that knows how to wash people who have weaves and was located in the West Side and I came here based upon a reference from my weave stylist. The salon is huge and they did everything to make sure to follow covid protocols. My hairstylist Gladys was a sweetheart. She styled my hair beautifully. My hair was washed thoroughly as well. Disappointing service from Maya. I was booked with William and given Maya for my blowout instead. She was rude and childish, as she stuck her tongue out at me when I didn't let her cut my hair. I was only booked for a blowout on the day of a wedding - I did not want my hair cut. At checkout, I was asked if I had Venmo and since I don't live in the US, I don't have Venmo. I was then charged $12.70 in Credit Card charges for a $100 blowout. This practice of passing on credit card fees is illegal in NYC, unless there is signage or clear communication to the customer. $100 blowout, $12.07 CC fees, $4.50 tax. I've never heard of a credit card company charging that high of fees to a merchant. read more

BEWARE! Do NOT go to this salon! My family was coming in from out of town and as a surprise I booked blowouts for the 3 of us and makeup application. We show up on time and after waiting 30 minutes the receptionist tells us shes sorry but the makeup artist and stylist just aren't responding to her texts and they aren't coming in! Not one but two people of their team aren't coming in after the salon confirmed with me the appointments. I was so upset and mad not only that it is unprofessional but that I had my family there excited for a girls day of pampering, came in from OUT OF TOWN only to have someone say sorry our stylists arent responding or showing up today. There was no other stylists in that could do it, we had trekked all the way uptown for nothing and they only thing they offered us was water or coffee as an apology. It was the most unprofessional salon I have ever been to. I would never ever recommend this salon to anyone nor would I ever go back!!!! read more

That's such a great place! Stylists here at the salon are using organic color products. I feel my hair shiny and healthy now after the treatment. Federico colored my hair with this new organic hair color he uses now. If I could give this salon zero stars I would. I purchased a single process color on groupon. Upon arrival the stylist tried to say a single process is not a color it is only a touch up if you have roots- which is a lie and was confirmed on the salons menu of services. After arguing with the salon and confirming that what I wanted was one process of color- no touch ups no highlights they then said they could do the single color but that an additional $80 fee would be applied because I have long hair. The lady then brings me my jacket tells me, "I don't know what to tell you they don't want to color your hair." I'm not sure if want was the best word choice but will definitely be providing some service feedback to the team. After stepping out and sitting down to type this review I can see all the ladies standing through the frosted door and hear them talking about the situation- saying, "she didn't know what she was talking about" "that's just how groupon customers are" honestly I don't mind paying full price but if it's a $60 groupon and an additional $80 color process and you are going to be rude no thank you! I hope your experience is better- or try le salon east they are wonderful. read more

I was in town for an event in which husband was receiving an award. Having never been to NY, I had made arrangements for another company to come to my hotel room to do my hair. Well.... that company never showed up! A quick call to Federico's from the concierge at my hotel and they said they could take me. I arrived (flustered, no doubt, still annoyed by the other company) and was greeted warmly by the woman behind the counter. She led me back to put a cape on, hung my coat up, and directed me to my chair. Next thing I know, I have a glass of wine in my hands! (Awesome!! I sooooo needed a glass of wine!) My stylist, Ricardo, came over started assessing my hair type/cut/condition and asked what I wanted. I gave a vague description of what I had in mind, but told him I was open to suggestions and he could do what he thinks would be best. As Ricardo went to work, another stylist who was in-between clients came over & offered to help Ricardo by passing him bobby pins. This happened with 2 other stylists as well as Federico stopping by to see how things were going... This shop's staff all work together helping one another. You can tell they all feel like family & that warmth and wanting what's best for the client is quite evident. Many bobby pins later, Ricardo stepped back and OMG!!!! My hair was absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!! Ricardo totally nailed it!!! He listened to what I wanted, improvised with what he thought would look best, and at the end- I couldn't have asked for anything better!!!!! Many thanks to everyone at Federico's that evening! My wine glass was never empty, we had good conversation, and many laughs. I left relaxed and ready for my event. My biggest regret is that Federico's Salon is a plane trip away from home! One of the best salons for color in NYC for sure(the best for me, but I'll try to be objective). The first thing caught me was Organic Hair Color. I'm from Spain, but I trust Italian completely when it's about beauty or healthy. Federico Salon uses organic hair line from Italy - Tocco Mágico, which is ammonia free, ppd free and resorcinol free(I checked ingredients!). I feel my hair so natural after this color treatment. I purchased the Brazilian Keratin treatment on Living Social for $150. Before I confirmed, I called the salon and specifically asked if this was the Brazilian treatment that would relax my very curly hair. I have had the Brazilian Blowout done on my hair about 10 times before this, so I knew what kind of results to expect. I arrived at the salon on a very hot humid day, to no AC. My hairstylist was attentive and worked hard, and I really liked him. After the first wash, 2 days later, I could tell the Brasiliana treatment did not take. I still had the frizzy fly aways by my face and a very difficult time blowing out my hair, as I did before I sat in the chair for 3 hours, and $175 richer. 2 weeks later, my roots are back to completely natural, and my hair is frizzy as ever. I cannot afford to go back to my regular salon today, so I will have to wait and deal with my bad decision for now. I would recommend Massimo for a hair cut or color, since I really did like him, but I would not recommend this treatment if you want results. read more

I initially reviewed this place one star but have changed it to 3 as they contacted me after my review (through Yelp) to say to go to their sister salon and someone would fix what I didn't like about my haircut. I went yesterday and it's now a big improvement. The fact that they offered to do this was good on their part. It's still not 5 stars as per my original review when they wouldn't give me a Saturday appointment as I was a Groupon customer (despite this being no where on the rules).
