Terrible experience at Feils in Randolph. We had reservations for 4:30. We got there at 4:05. We had a drink, headed to the table. We had one waitress come over and take our order. 10 minutes later another waitress came over and took our order. We told her someone already took our order. She said that she was our new waitress. We both ordered the all you can eat chicken. The first waitress came and told us they were out of chicken. We ordered an appetizer and that came out with the food. Then our bill was wrong. Flagged down the waitress she said she would correct it. Checking our bank yesterday and were charged 3 times!! And the topper was I have contacted them and nothing but crickets. read more

Another visit, another success! We brought my father and some close friends to Feils for the December German Buffet to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. Everyone loved the drinks and the food...my wife ordered off the menu and got blackened catfish. She's very picky, being from a large city and being a gourmet cook herself, and she loved the catfish. The rest of us pigged out on Rouladen, Stuffed Cabbage Rolls, Sauerbraten, Jaegerschnitzel, Spaetzle and Rohtkohl. Mmmmm! Service was great and the birthday cake for my wife was a nice touch. A little bit of a drive about 45 min our house in McFarland but nothing terrible. Good strong well made cocktails. You start out with some homemade bread they claim to have served over a million loaves your choice rye or white both excellent. Most dinners come with a large salad bar including homemade soups. We've had the fish fry ,brunch , German Specialties , steaks ,chicken and other item have enjoyed them all oddly for a German restaurant spaetzle has hit and miss haven't made it yet for the monthly German dinner buffet. Very disappointing evening at Feil's. The only positive comment I can make is that it is very quiet with nice atmosphere. Our waitress was very slow, others came in and their order was taken before ours, we were never offered bread, I finally asked why we did not get any-the response was "because I forgot to ask you what kind you wanted" She still did not offer any! I asked if we could please have some, she brought bread but no butter. Never came back- so I got up and took some off another table. Some time later she appeared grabbing our plates quickly and I had to stop her-I asked for a box - and she looked at me like I was crazy. I repeated my request and told her only for my plate- my husband had eaten next to nothing as his Sauerbraten was terrible. Again we waited a very long time finally getting our box and check- never asked if we wanted an after dinner drink, just plopped it all down and took off. My husband then saw that we were charged extra for his potato salad- when she finally came back he asked her about that- as the menu listed it as included. Well she said "the menu is wrong it's not included and you asked me for it" then she walked away leaving us wondering who to pay. We waited a while and finally tried to pay at the bar, no we had to pay our waitress. I had long given up on an after dinner drink, getting the bill paid took enough of our time! No, we will never return. I would not call any of the staff friendly. We had reservations, it was not like we walked in off the street and caused them inconvenience. read more

The service was horrible. I had been coming here for the better part of my entire life and it now leaves a lot to be desired from the memories of my past. Their waiters and waitresses choose large parties over their regulars now. Their kitchen is also not efficient enough to handle the restaurant at less than half capacity. If you are in the Columbus, Beaver Dam, Randolph, WI are and are up for some good ol' fashion supper clubbin', Feil's is the place for you. You'll feel like you landed in Munich when you walk into the heavily German style decorated restaurant. Usually packed on a weekend night, you should make reservations if you wish for a prompt seat at the dinner table. If you don't mind the wait, Feil's features a full bar w/ stiff drinks and home-made salsa and chips that will please your taste buds. Most dinners are traditional entrees like steaks, fish and other "blue hair" favorites. You'll get a "all you can eat" salad bar included with your meal, so you can pig up on salads, slaw, soups and other odd sides like liverwurst and German favorites. Your dinner comes with a "free" home-made loaf of bread that tastes like heaven and Feil's prides themselves on serving over a million of these tasty loaves. The main course portions are so large that even Kevin Smith would ask for a doggy bag. If you leave this place hungry, you'd better find help at Jenny Craig. Dinner for two will cost you roughly 45 dollars for both meals and a couple of drinks. If you wish to get fluthered, it would be a little more. The only downside to this place is the bad gas I've experienced after each visit. I'd recommend this place for a first date, but if you are trying to get some after dinner action, you'd better choose elsewhere. I'm serious. The gas is violent and the odor from it is so pungent that it leaves you and those around you installing the shirt filter while running for a different room. All in all, Feils is a great value. When in Randolph, plan on stopping in for a feast! read more

I took my mother in-law and wife here for brunch for Mother's Day and was not very impressed. First off, it was advertised as a brunch but it didn't have ANY breakfast items. Mashed potatoes, stuffing, pork loin and ham were on the buffet along with carrots and beans I believe. They had a large salad bar, which appeared to be something straight out of That 70's show. Lots of pre-made pasta salads and your usual salad bar options. In my opinion, this would be a great place to go for a fish fry or a casual dinner out but I wouldn't recommend it as a special occasion destination. read more

Well, it's a typical German themed Wisconsin supper club. You get what you expect to get out of a vintage never changing Wisconsin supper club. I have been going to Feil's for my entire life, and my favorite thing to order is the Herbie. So you ask, What is the Herbie? I'll tell you what the Herbie is: A steak broiled to perfection topped with fried onion straws. When I say topped, I mean completely covering the steak so that you do not even know that there is a steak under them! Trust me when I say this, you really have to like the taste of onion to order this. It is something special! The salad bar rocks. It is clean and full has plenty of salad bar standard choices including typical Wisconsin pasta salads, potato salads, & Cole slaw dishes. Great fish fry, and meat selection. Most things on the menu look to be homemade. Clam Chowder is fantastic! If it is your first outing to Feil's, I suggest either hitting up the Friday fish fry (walleye, cod, crappie) or order a steak w/potato. So if you are looking for the true old time Wisconsin supper club experience, you can't go wrong with Feil's! read more

Next the salad bar...everything was fresh and it was large. Our main meal was fabulous (Wiener schnitzel with spatzle and red cabbage.) Went here with the family for dinner on Saturday...it had been years since my last visit. Love the cozy atmosphere. It's old school, but in a good way. The bartender Lisa was very friendly and prompt. We all had old fashioneds and they were great. Love the homemade mushrooms! My son's kiddie cocktail was made with real cherries which was awesome as well :) We all enjoyed our dinners. I had the stuffed portobello mushroom which was very tasty. My mom had their salmon which was equally as good...loved the sweet glaze on it! Homemade garlic mashed potatoes were to die for and the soup of the day, which was a creamy spinach was very tasty. The main thing that I really love about Feil's that I feel sets it apart from some other places is their salad bar. It is AMAZING. Huge. Tons of different pasta and veggie salads to choose from. Tonight's experience was disappointing. They were not busy, it took 15 minutes to get a drink at the table. No water was served until we asked then to only one person and had to ask againfor the others. Two steaks were ordered the same, one came half the size and over cooked. Had Sunday brunch here and it was NOT good. Fish on the hot bar was cold, not even a little warm. Gravy was so dark it appeared straight from a can and was not tasty. Absolutely no vegetables on the buffet. The salad bar was small with few items. The coleslaw and shell pasta salad were good. The desserts were very disappointing. The offering was bars for dessert - cherry, raspberry, lemon, chocolate chip, melted cheesecake bars, and unrecognizable bars. Can I just say too many bars and nothing else! I would expect some fruit and pastries for a brunch. The chef lost creativity back in the 60's. Speaking of the 60's, the interior of this place appears to have not had an update since the 60's. If you like french fried onion straws, you HAVE to treat yourself to dinner at Feil's! they are the vet I've ever had, and they really load them on! The salad bar is amazing, and includes a soup, all of which are delicious. The bartender, being a native Wisconsinite, really knows how to mix an Old Fashioned (and it doesn't have to be Brandy!) Classic Sconnie supper club! Great cocktails (have John mix you an old fashioned sweet!), delightful decor and pretty awesome food. I started eyeing up the salad bar the minute we walked in - can you say 3 jello salads?!? I ordered the 10oz filet mignon (medium rare please) and it rocked. Cooked perfectly, good char and juicy as hell. Don't miss the onion (st)rings - greasy goodness! Friends got ribs, breasted chicken and jäger schnitzel all of which was great. Solid 3 star experience. Very much a family style place. The interior is filled with old German beer hall furnishings. The bar boasts 3 wines on tap (Yes, I've never seen wine on tap, either!). The servers seemed disinterested, or perhaps just inexperienced. The menu is very extensive and includes a wide variety of meat dishes and fish dishes. I ordered the fried walleye. Overall it was decent, but veiny. The tartar sauce was delicious, the executive chef told us it was a tarragon tartar sauce. I had the potato wedges as my side and they were not cooked enough to my liking, probably because it was basically one full potato cut into 4 sections then breaded and fried. One of our dining companions had salmon and said it was the best he's ever had, and he works in a popular restaurant in downtown Chicago. All entrees come with the salad bar. It is not the kind of salad bar I might expect in Milwaukee, and definitely has a more rural-wisconsin twist (little marshmallow green fluff pudding comes to mind). I went to the German buffet right when they started serving. It is an excellent buffet and was impressed with the salad bar that offered a variety of on site made salads and hot bacon dressing. The location is going to be a bit of a drive for most people but it is certainly worth it for some good German food. read more

Friends introduced us to Feil's Supper Club over the 4th of July - we had a fun evening that started at the bar with our very friendly and entertaining bar tender. Even the hostess joined us at the bar for some fun conversation and shared the history of the supper club and her long tenure there. Feil's is a charming, Old Fashioned, Wisconsin Supper Club - it was great to see it busy on this holiday weekend. We tried the haystack onions at the bar along with some bier and some Brandy Old Fashioneds. Our hostess seated us when we were ready for dinner. We all started with our favorite - the salad bar - whoa, spectacular and delicious. All our entrees were delicious and most of the table requested "to go" boxes as we were all just too full. Our bartender lured us back to the bar with some $2 Grasshoppers - they were great. We really enjoyed our evening and our first visit to Feil's Supper Club - stop in and give them a try, I know you'll be glad you stopped. read more

Fiel's Supper Club is an old restaurant that goes way back. I can recall going there with my grandparents years ago. We decided to check them out again as a nice place to have a little celebration. It was a little before supper time. The place was near empty when we arrived but about three parties arrived shortly after we did. There was no one at the bar. We were seated promptly. The service was ok and our food arrived timely enough. The meals looked like prepared meals shipped in frozen and heated up. One of our party had shrimp which they liked. I ordered lobster which was cold and rubbery. ie, overcooked or maybe worse. I should have sent it back but I didn't want to upset our celebration so I kept quite. The salad bar has some unique items in it that some may like, like braunschweiger. The meals were way overpriced for their quality. They can't have a chef in the kitchen. They brag about their homemade bread which we received a loaf. Nothing to brag about. It was not much more different than some grocery store loaf that they heated up. The people next to us commented on how good the bread was! This is why places like this stay in business. People don't know better. They have ample parking and the restaurant is pretty spacious. They need to start cooking their own food, get a chef, get a new recipe for the bread, and make their prices more appropriate for their dishes. read more

A GREAT Wisconsin Supper Club! Feils keeps the tradition alive with great food and drink options. We were blown away when stopping for lunch on a recent trip. Our servicer Arliss, could not have been more accommodating! In addition to menu info, she provide local options and even recommended another supper club for dinner. As it was lunch time and rather slow, both the owner and the chef came out and chatted with us- what a treat for local flavor and history! The food was excellent- sandwiches options included burgers, chicken and sausage. Our group had a variety and no one was disappointed. Local beers compliment the food. I went on a Saturday night to their Oktoberfest buffet. The staff were all very friendly and the food on the buffet tasted fresh even though I had gotten there after 8 PM. My only complaints were there were no German desserts on the buffet...which I mentioned to the wait staff who told me she liked my suggestion and passed it on. The price of the buffet was $15 but did not include a soft drink, which was another $2. The German beer prices were high ($7 for a bottle of Hacker- Shorr ) so I opted for Pepsi because they did not have Coke products. read more

I agree with some of the others who say that the entrees here are far from perfect: the sauerbraten is serviceable but mediocre, the more elaborate or expensive seafood dishes are disappointing. This isn't a place to order lobster, or shrimp scampi. But the steak is decent, and I'd imagine the fried fish and schnitzel are good. The salad bar is well-prepared, and it's the main reason, along with the atmosphere, that I come. The selection is probably completely unchanged from what it was 20 or 30 years ago (no romaine lettuce, just iceberg; those little square croutons that every other restaurant seems to have dropped; plenty of creamy, mild salads, and a row of sliced cheese and liverwurst at the end). It's satisfying in a retro way, and if you combine it with the included soup and bread, it can be a very affordable dinner in itself. The decor, like the salad bar, has a circa-1975 charm. Dark wood paneling all around, stained glass, steins and German coats of arms on the wall. I vividly associate this sort of dark, slightly dank backdrop with restaurants of my childhood, like the Capri in Columbus, or Paisan's; but both of those have entirely redecorated now, and quite a few others that used to be comparable have gone out of business. Feil's stays the same, and I imagine it will for quite a while. If you're looking for a truly excellent steak, or a salad bar with bold, unexpected offerings, I'd go elsewhere. But if you want an unadulterated supper-club experience, with no concessions to the present, I highly recommend this place. read more

No trip to Wisconsin would be complete without a trip to Fiel's! The BEST onion rings on the planet, and an always-excellent salad bar (fresh spinach with hot sweet/sour/bacon/onion dressing) and fresh mini loaves of bread. Try to visit on Wednesday night --when the special is Jaegerschnitzel with spatezel. To DIE for (and my family owned a German restaurant). Great bargain, too -- just $12.95 including the salad bar. Enough leftover for lunch the next day! We managed to eat here two of the five nights we were in town. It's just that good. Can't wait for next year's Airventure, and another trip to Wisconsin (and Fiel's). read more

COLD FOOD! Tried the Sunday brunch but was highly disappointed. I loaded my plate with a little of just about everything. When I sat down to eat it, the food was cold. The waitress asked if everything was o.k. and I informed her that it wasn't. She was kind enough to heat up my plate of food in their kitchen microwave. During my meal, I noticed that they replaced the alcohol burners and began to stir the 'hot' dishes. The temperature of the items on the buffet should have been closely monitored by the chef but evidently not. The food was mediocre. The desserts were terrible - hard and dried out. Tasted like they just came out of the freezer (not home-made). The price $12.95 of the brunch is way over priced for the quality. Will not be back...... read more

Please take this 1 star as a negative 5 star. We had a terrible experience here. The salad had brown rotten lettuce. The drinks took over 15 minutes to get. The food came out cold on all four meals. The jaeger schnitzel was ice cold So we sent it back. One minute later the same plate came out of the microwave and was then over cooked. So we told the waitress we didn't want it. The scallops were also not good so I told the waitress that and she said I'll take that off and took the plate. Then proceeded to charge for them. We asked if she was taking it off and she said no. I said then why did you take my full plate of food and charge me for it if I didn't get to eat it. Then the cook came out and said "so you have a problem with my food?" We said not necessarily a problem, it just was cold and then microwaved and over done so we didn't want it. She said ok. And stood very close to us, non masked. And we said ok? As she still just stood there staring at us. She finally walked away. Then when the waitress came out I asked why did the cook just come out and ask us if we had a problem?. She said oh because I told her the issues you had. I said ok but that was extremely unprofessional. Then I asked who the manager is and she said the cook is the manager. I said oh ha ok. Then the cook came back out and said so you have a problem with my restaurant?. I said yes I do. First off you came out here un masked and were face to face w us/too close to us. So you're not following regulations. Second, you came out here asking if we had a problem with our food and then just stood there and we didn't say anything. We were paying our bill for the food. The cook/manager was literally yelling and verbally harassing us. She rolled up her apron and looked like she was going to get physical. We were getting up to leave and she was standing in our way. So I told her to walk away from us and to have a great weekend. Then she followed us all the way out yelling things to us and said "like we didn't already have a bad enough year" ok well that's no ones fault. It's a global pandemic. How about you don't make a scene in front of your ENTIRE restaurant all because we professionally sent the food back as it wasn't good. She came out very defensive to begin with and handled the situation completely wrong and unprofessional. The food is also extremely expensive. The quality meets McDonald's. I really feel like this is your typical Wisconsin Supper Club with a heavy German themed vibe. The ambience is very dark and almost like a time warp back to a far off era of the past. It can make you feel old and tired. That set aside I've gone for multiple buffets for holidays and some parts are solid others not so much. They run out of food, but their salad bar is nice. I also dislike how they give you a tiny slice of pie as an "option" for dessert. Major boo especially for what you pay. Kid friendly. Casual to Dressy. read more
