We called the original installer (not Mercury) of the furnace to take a look and see if he could fix it. Couldn't figure out the problem but said he would replace the motor and pressure switches for $2,000 after looking at the unit a bit. He then told us we should consider installing a heat pump, so we decided to get quotes from several companies to install one. Ian was the only that asked us "do you actually want to replace it?" instead of immediately trying to sell us a new unit. Even just speaking with him over the phone for a few minutes, he showed just how knowledgeable he was and what questions we needed to ask the other sales reps. So I waited for Ian to come by and give us his opinion. Within 20 minutes, Ian had CORRECTLY diagnosed the problem and had our furnace back up and running for the first time in over a week. He then showed us everything that was wrong with the original installation of the unit. Ian is so incredibly knowledgeable about every single aspect of these units: the thermostats, motors, electrical, filters, fuses, wiring, troubleshooting, everything.
