I would absolutely see Rhonda again--her demeanor was immediately warm, calming and welcoming, and she was an attentive and skilled massage therapist. Her space is small and nice, with diffused natural light and a super comfortable and impeccably clean massage table (and space in general). She changed the bedding on it depending on the treatment I was getting, so I was comfortable, warm and happy the whole time. She tailors your treatment to you completely, asking about music, oils and health questions ahead of time so the treatment goes fluidly and you can relax fully. The treatments were great (I recommend the papaya scrub and massage combination) but getting to know her was even more of a highlight. I'm sure treatments are usually quiet except for the music, but I had a great time chatting with her and feel like I came away with an awesome new friend!

I am so, so glad I found PureLife! Their space is beautiful, with a relaxing waiting area (you can have a Japanese foot soak while you wait!), friendly and to-the-point check-in process, and a wonderful staff that makes you feel like you've known them for years. Let me first give you this disclaimer: the only massages I had regularly done in the past were mostly "feel good" massages; none were really scheduled to target an particular area. At my first appointment, Carrie introduced me to cupping: a form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin to pull fascia closer to the surface and to mobilize blood flow, in order to promote healing. And whew! She had warned me, but man, I was in pain! You can feel it working instantly, which also means for people who have never had it done before (like me), the feeling of the suction pulling at your deep tissues can be exhilarating, fear-inducing, and tense. She assured me the whole time that although it hurt at that moment, I would thank her for it two days later. I wasn't sure I could trust her, having only just met her, but I continued. Afterward, I half-way reluctantly scheduled my next appointment for the following month. As she had forewarned, by the second day, I felt great! My back, and whole body, had never felt so limber and not sore! Every appointment, I now ask for the cupping and we laugh about my initial hesitation about rescheduling. They have opted to remove the doors to the treatment rooms in order to speed up treatments and move more bodies through the clinic. This takes away any privacy patients once had to discuss personal medical information during their intake. It also takes away a sense of safety for their treatment. A nervous system cannot move into a healing state when it feels like it needs to be on guard in a room with no door. When I reached out to the owner about my concerns I was told that "change is hard" and that "anyone who has experienced trauma will be referred to a therapist that can help them with that." The problem is that we have all experienced trauma and continue to on a regular basis. And receiving bodywork like chiropractic is something that should be done in an environment that feels safe to the body and nervous system. Everything about these changes is saying profit over people and it has left a bad taste in my mouth. Unfortunately I no longer feel comfortable recommending the clinic to my friends and community. I will continue to go see Dr. P and team for now because I am still hoping the owners will see what a huge misstep this is and will choose to listen to the feedback from their patients. I also opted to write the yelp review because I have sent multiple emails trying to explain why this choose is so incongruent with true healthcare and every single time I was told that the changes are there to provide better care for their patients. I would love to see the staff happy again and receive care in a safe environment.

Sara's knowledge and skill surpass anyone I've come across, and I'm so sad that I no longer live in the area. Otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate to do another ten series session. Her intuition and integrative techniques (massage, rolfing, cupping, and even graston) were all utilized to restore a lot of lost mobility from overuse and injuries. She's caring, generous with her time, and educates her clients so they can maintain/be successful with their mobility on their own. I'm a fan! Now only if I could find someone locally, but if not... I might have to book a trip back to Portland just to get worked on.

Her knowledge of the body and musculoskeletal systems and what to do to help restore function and decrease pain far surpasses that of most physical therapists deep tissue massage practitioners. Her approach to bodywork and Rolfing is functional, practical, and most of all, she wants you to understand why you are having pain and what to do about it. Most massage therapists and physical therapists don't know how to relate that information, so even after years of massage or bodywork you will still be mystified as to the source of your pain. Sara cares about you feeling as good as you can, and will work with you to get you there. Sara is the best, hands down.

I have had many massages to deal with back pain, and although the other therapists I have been to are wonderful. I was looking for neuromuscular help more than a 'me day' massage. I have found the right therapist in Harmony Haney. I'm hooked. The first time I went to Harmony I had been unable to walk for 2 days, and after our first treatment I was able to move and perform the relief/prevention exercises she showed me. Harmony has created such a welcoming and calm environment that belies the intensity of her technique, that I was almost surprised after my first visit. She asked questions and got to know my body and was emotionally present as well. Her advice and instruction for post-massage is knowledgeable and effective. Now, as a regular client I am able to better recognize bad patterns or form that cause my back issues. When I do over-do it I have Harmony to get me back to a comfortable place with less downtime and repetitive movement injury. As a competitive paddler I would highly recommend Harmony for anyone who pushes their body (sometimes too hard) for relief with both the immediate physical repercussions of injury and the prevention of repetitive use issues. Although I do like my massages intense I also appreciate the relaxing aspects of Harmony's practice. She makes you feel instantly comfortable and welcome, with special personal touches that invoke a spa-like feel, and an atmosphere of relaxation and compassion. It's also crazy to me that she can feel/find tight spots that I forget to alert her to at the beginning of the session.
