This is my go-to shoe repair and clean-up place in my neighborhood. They have restored shoes, cleaned up super scuffed work shoes, and generally can do anything you ask. Saves me money to get shoes re-soled, leather scratches somehow covered up and the result looking like a new pair. It's key, though, to maintain shoes and get them repaired/cleaned regularly. Can't expect miracles from anyone, but this shop does a great job. Plus they are good, hard-working people and an asset to the neighborhood. read more

Not an honest business . I brought in a pair of boots that were too big on me, and they suggested insoles. Put in a pair of cheap insoles and charged me $25. Highway robbery! He didn't tell me the price until the insoles were in the boots and I didn't have my wits about me. Otherwise I would have left without them. Great customer service and friendly. Honest and transparent pricing. Because of the neighborhood and convenience, it cost me around $90. I've found more affordable places, but not as friendly or honest. This place was definitely trustworthy with my shoes and they had a long line of luxury shoes waiting to be cared for. I brought in my $160 Birkenstock clogs that have been worn down to the cork and scuffed. Rather than buying a new pair and having to break them in again, which is painful, I thought this was the more sustainable option. Glad I did! They were thorough in evaluation. They replaced the base, filled in the cork, repaired the cracking sole, touched up my scuffs, and conditioned the leather with a nice polish. It looks like new! This place is definitely recommended for its service and fast turnaround. It got it back within 3 days. The other cobblers in the city would've taken 1-2 weeks. read more

Tribeca has a bar-belled retail and restaurant mix -- on one hand you have Nobu, Scalini Fedeli and a variety of chic boutiques. On the other, you have Baba Ghanouje, Taco House and the likes of Frank's Shoe Repair. Frank's does a great job with shoe repairs and shoe shines. Seemingly run by a Spanish-speaking contingent of multi-skilled workers, you can expect the assessment of your footwear to last but a few seconds, following which you are given an estimated repair time that can range from a few hours to a couple of days. On my last visit, I had several pairs of shoes shined by Frank's. They diligently applied layers upon layers of wax, until the surfaces were glossy and bright -- the obvious envy of any spit-and-polish effort. I live within 3 minutes of Fernandez Shoe Repair, but normally go to a cobbler in Greenwich Village. Needed a pair of shoes fixed in a hurry for my office holiday party so I decided to give them a shot. I had an old pair of John Varvatos shoes that the leather was starting to tear in the back, and they needed new soles because the former soles had worn down and were now causing a loud CLACK noise whenever I walked on hardwood floors. Took them in, and was told the leather could be stitched up, and the soles could be switched to brand new rubber soles for a total of $80. This price seemed a little high to me, but I wasn't going to nickel and dime. Wow - what a great job! The shoes are literally better than new, I had no idea they could even be shined. I will definitely get at least another season of wear out of these shoes now. Also for some strange reason, when I went to pay he only charged me $70 (I think because I paid cash). Thanks, no more taking the C train to West 4th with boxes of shoes. Also, seems like a great atmosphere in here in the mornings, they have a whole team of people ready to give shoe shines. If you value your shoes DONT GO HERE! Ruined a my favorite $300 heels. 1) I brought my favorite Fluevog custom heels for a new heel, they first put on hard plastic heels - which made my shoes impossible to walk in for $20. 2) brought back same heels and requested soft rubber replacements for the heels. He marred the paint on the heel, surface glued a set of rubber heels which came off after 3 weeks. And filled in the hole with epoxy for the heel post and rough sanded the heel. 3) Original heel posts were obtained from Fluevog bought them in. First off the guy behind the counter quickly dismissed me and ignored me with terrible customer service. Told me that he would have to replace the entire heel (WTF?) He would not be able to remove the epoxy that Franky's filled in for the heel post. Will post photos of the damages theses guys did to my shoes soon read more

Found this shop under Thursday boots recommended shoe repair list on their website. Small father and son team, provided quality service. Dropped off a pair of Thursday and old Timberland boots that needed new soles replaced . We're ready in a few days and came back looking better than new. My favorite boots had soles so thin I could feel the ground through them, but I got them for a great price and they're irreplaceable so I took them to Fernandez Shoe Repair in hopes they could restore them to their former glory. For $65 they re-souled and polished them up to look better than they did when I first got them. They have at least a couple more years on them now and I'm so pleased. read more

I had an emergency today with the tip of my heels needing some serious replacement. I called Frank's Shoe Repair and they said that they could fix my shoes on the same day! I went in during my lunch hour, took off my shoes, explained what I wanted, and snuggled into a chair to read. The lady took my shoes to the one shoe repairman who was diligently working away. I had barely turned 3 pages of my book when she returned them to me all fixed and looking spanking brand new! It was reasonably priced at $8, and I was thrilled that such fast service could be found! I hope I don't face any shoe problems in the future but should there be any, Frank's Shoe Repair is at my top recommendation for anyone working in Tribeca and the financial district. Probably the worst shoe shine I've been to in NYC. Both the lady and the guy shine the shoes for about 1 to 2 minutes and that's it. This is New York for god sake! If you charge $4 for a shine, and you do a crappy job, nobody will return! read more

I occasionally pop in for a shoe shine on my lunch break or on my way to after-work events. They do a nice professional job, match colors well and let you decide matte vs. gloss finish on the shoe. You're in and out in about 10 minutes and your shoe uppers look brand new. I trust them with my AE's! read more

For shoe service, they are passable. They do good work but did something stupid by putting a cheap rubber sole on a nice shoe when I asked for a replacement (maybe I was stupid for not specifically asking for something equivalent to what was there initially). They have cleaned my wife's purses and added tips to her heels fine. I was disgusted, though, that they tried to charge me $10 to fix some stitching on my leather belt. Not just because of the price but because they couldn't even finish it in the timeframe they promised. They do great work but are dishonest. I brought in a leather bag with one broken trap to be fixed. They quoted me $30 to restitch it back. I asked them to restitch both sides and they quoted me $50. I paid and the bag came back with only one side re-done. I brought it back and they reassured me that they did both sides. They didn't because the materials don't match. I had decided to wait and see. Now the good side is broken and they offered me $20 to "re-fix" it. Can't trust this business even if they are the best in town. read more

I'm very happy with the re-soling, and re-staining work that Fernandez Shoe Repair has done on one pair of brown Colehaan boots that I've managed to make almost new each year. I've looked around the area and this place is the best. It doesn't look like much from the outside (or the inside for that matter) - it's a shoe repair shop not a fashion show. Took my watch here to get repaired - When I came to pick me up they tried to charge me TWICE what they originally told me it would cost (mind you, it was NOT an estimate, but rather a hard price). They were not apologetic, did not try to contact me to tell me that it would cost more, and when I finally convinced them that they weren't going to get away with charging me twice what they originally told me, they were totally rude and unprofessional. Absolutely will not be giving them any more of my business and would highly recommend anyone reading this review to do the same. read more

WORST Shoe Repair Store I've ever been to. They put plastic instead of metal in my heels. Instead of actually fixing the shoe they just glued it together which obviously broke again. They can polish them up to look nice but as far as fixing them when they are broken - seriously do not come here. read more

This place is a giant rip-off. I was charged $15 for a basic shoe shine and to replace shoelaces. I only realized that I was being royally cheated when I went back to pick up the shoes noticed the sign below the top of the counter that listed the price of a shoe shine as $5. I was told when I bought in the shoes that they used some sort of "special cream" to make them look like new. The job they did on my shoe was just okay. They certainly don't look new. Moreover, the shoelaces they used to replace the old ones look like they belong in a pair of Frankenstein brogans: they are horrible. I will never ever take another pair of shoes to Fernandez Shoe Repair EVER AGAIN. If you do make the mistake of going there, make sure you ask to see the price list; otherwise, they may charge you a lot more for basic shoe maintenance than even the worst shoe repair shops. I'm extremely disappointment as I used to good really good honest, service from them. They have really changed since the pandemic. Money is one thing; integrity is another. This is a shoe repair shop. They shine shoes well, but then again so does the guy on the street. You can train a monkey to shine a shoe and to do it well. In the end its just putting polish on, and brushing it off. I don't know who frank is, but he doesn't work here anymore. Its staffed by 4 latino men and women when I walked in. The man who worked the counter was rude and not very helpful at all. FYI: whatever price he quotes you, just tell him you got it for $5 less last time you came and he will usually give it to you. The place is unkempt and the prices are comparable to everything else in the neighborhood. ($20 to replace the heels on men's shoes) I'm not saying they are awful at what they do, From what I've seen, yes they can shine a shoe and yes they can repair heels and zippers. The problem is though so can everyone else in that business. What they lack though is customer service. I did not like that they tried to rip me off on the price. This is a great shoe repair shop just three (two?) blocks away from my office at 7WTC. One of my heels broke off - just straight up broke off while I was SEATED in a chair - so I looked up a "while-you-wait" shoe repair shop nearby and found myself at Fernandez's. Beware, the awning says "Frank's", or something like that, so I passed it twice before I looked at the sidewalk sign in front of the store that clearly says "Fernandez." They estimated a 30 minute wait for the heel repair, so I decided to get a separate pair of shoes shined and the bottom of its heels replaced. After about 15 minutes, both pairs of shoes were back to their shining functionality. In all, it cost $30 - worth it considering I had planned on replacing one of the pairs... now I don't need to! read more
