I have no doubt that this place was really great in the past. In today's day, especially after Covid I don't think they're prepared enough. I stopped by around 11am and quickly realized they had absolutely nothing out. They really close at 11 and just sell leftovers till 12. They had a few donuts so I got some to try but not much to pick from at all. When I asked about lunch sandwiches that I heard people raving about, they told me after Covid they never reopened that part of the deli. So they said they could still make a breakfast sandwich. I passed on the offer but my boyfriend got a Taylor ham egg and cheese on a bagel. It was really sad to look at, not a good sandwich overall. Would've been better off at WaWa. The donuts were decent but I definitely have had better on the island. I can appreciate how fresh they are but that's about it. Overall the staff was nice and the donuts were fresh but with hours so limited and no sandwiches available, I probably won't be back. read more

As a little girl long ago, Sunday mornings meant Sunday School followed by a trip to Marvel's for donuts. I would patiently wait in line watching the machine and marveling at the process as the dough was dropped in, it then floated around the machine, was flipped over and ended up a perfect donut!! When I would finally get my six, three powdered, three sugared (never ever was allowed to buy a dozen for the three of us) I savored every delectable bite. Well, Marvel's Market and Sweet Shop are gone, along with the Nor'easter, the Dairy Queen, Freddies Bar, Coleman's, and M & M Seafood. But, thanks to Tony and his love of LBI, those wonderful donuts are still there for me to watch being made and to still savor every, wonderful bite. Only now... I buy a dozen every time!!! I really wanted to love this place after all of the hype but it was average at best. I got an iced coffee (was good but average) My boyfriend and I shared the walnut sticky bun and the Cinnamon roll. The sticky bun was kind of stale and I wish the walnuts were toasted or something- it was more on the bland side. The cinnamon roll (also on the stake side) was better after we warmed them both up.The place was a cool atmosphere getting to see the donuts made but we almost felt rushed and not so welcomed not a good feeling, especially when it was our first time there. We will try again because maybe it was an off day but so far not super impressed. read more

Tried the donuts on the last morning of our latest trip to the island. Made fresh right in front of you! Simple tried and true varieties, iced, glazed, cinnamon sugar, and powdered, jelly. Marvel Bakery is a long time tradition in my family. My grandfather used to say the plain donuts reminded him of the donuts he sold as a child on the streets in Philly during the depression. I went into Marvel's Bakery last week and bought some donuts for children who were visiting us. After the salesgirl bagged the donuts, I realized that it was a cash only business and only had a ten dollar bill and a credit card. I asked her to take out whatever donuts she could to make the bill $10. Tony, the owner, stepped up and told me to take the donuts and to bring the balance when I could. Not only was Tony so accommodating, the donuts were delicious!! Warm, just enough sugar- absolutely delightful!! Kudos to Tony for maintaining the friendly, trusting environment of our little island. If you are going there for doughnuts, then go for it. Their homemade doughnuts are awesome. Little selection though. However, if going there for a sandwich, might want to go elsewhere. After reading all the good reviews I had to try this place. Biggest letdown ever. The service was terrible, with grumpy people working there. They had very limited variety of donuts or any baked goods. I decided to at least try one of the powdered donuts. I have had better massed produced donuts. This place is a hidden gem! I've been vacationing in Beach Haven since birth and this is the first time that we've stopped at Marvel's, thanks to a tip from a friend! The donuts are made fresh as you stand there, and although there were already some in the case, you can request them hot off the machine! Yum!!! If you have ever been to the famous Brown's in Ocean City, NJ, (which we highly recommend) the donuts are very similar. My family also tried the crumb buns, delicious, and the sticky bun with walnuts, also very good. We will definitely be coming back here every year! read more

Absolutely delicious! I remember being a little kid and my grandpa would always bring home Marvel's donuts for me and my cousins and we would devour them all within seconds.
