Impression: First time visiting this place. I have always heard great things about it. I have been to quite a few places in Oakdale but always just rolled by this spot. The inside is old school food place with photos of nostalgia of the country. Flow: You can call in and pick up for fast service or drop in and wait to be seated. It could be a long wait or it could be fast depending on the line. The service is fast though. They don't dilly dally and waste your time. If you are going to dine in you need to go to the counter and put your name in. Food: Leo Camarillo- You can order with pastrami, roast beef or both. (Not half and half) Lots of cheese and sautéed mushrooms. If you're not a mushroom fan just skip. This is so delicious I have been thinking about it ever since we got it. My wife doesn't like mushrooms and she still ate with the shrooms on. We ordered pastrami only. No ragrats! French Dip- My kids ate both halves and didn't even hook it up with a bite! It was juicy and the dip was perfect. Always add the cheese. The Italian- Loved the Italian. It had a lot of meats on it and the veggies were fresh. Topped with an Italian dressing. Salads- Pesto salad was my favorite. Excellent flavor. No heartburn. Spaghetti salad was the sleeper. Very unsuspecting. I thought it was going to be cold spaghetti sauce but it was tomato's and Italian dressing/seasoning. Potato salad was ok. We added pepper and salt. We ordered 3 sandwiches for 4 people and came home with an untouched half because there was so much food. Bill was less than $60 for all the food and the soft drinks. This place doesn't miss. The food is always on point and today on my way by I tired a French dip. Imagine a perfectly made French Dip if you've ever had one, then know that's what they serve at Ferrareses. 3 for 3 on my picks and my first time sitting down to enjoy and the service matches for food quality. The establishment is what you'd expect from a down home sandwich spot and I'd recommend this place to anyone that's in town, but also well worth a 20-30 minute drive it's so good. They were super busy today but so worth it. Had raviolis and added meatballs and that was delicious and the toast that comes with it......so good!! Wife had her usual, Leo Pastrami sandwich with a house salad and 'em side of pickles. The salad dressing are fantastic here and that sandwich always hit. Place was packed and had nonstop pick up orders. Place has been around for 50 years and this was my first time. Ravioli and garlic toast was ok, needed some salt pepper and parm. After ordering I saw and heard all tables around me and pick up orders being read back to customers were all sandwiches so I feel like I should have tried that instead. Getting a table took 20 min for two and waiting for the food took half an hour as we both ordered ravioli. Service was good. Next time I pass through town I will try the famous sandwiches!! read more

This place has been a local favorite of mine for 20+ years. Very generous portions on the sandwiches and the ambiance inside is nice and cute. My only small critique is I am a fan of sauce and like my sandwiches to leave a mess. These ones are more put together and you can clean up with a napkin for the most part. This isn't a fast food place so call in advance for take out. The wait staff does their best to seat and serve you quickly, but the restaurant is always packed (for good reason). I looked up their hours online and drove 30 minutes to get there and when I got there at 2:40 they told me that they were closed and that I could not be served. Not a lot of things in life bring you to Oakdale, but water polo brought us here to this sweet little quaint town. But this is a location review so here we go. The food is amazing. So much so, we spent our money here both days while town. The tri-tip sandwich was overall good. A tad over salted but great smoked coloring and with all the adds was as I said overall good. Do add lettuce and tomato tho. Turkey on sourdough roll. Turkey had a great seasoned flavor. Turkey on wheat, rates the same as the above. The big side note out of this review is the staff. I am not sure if it's knowing you're not a local or it's just the staff. But to be honest, they're not welcoming. Not even a tad. You are made to feel as if you are an inconvenience to them to take your order. I can't imagine if it's being overwhelmed but it's bery off putting. But sadly the food is great so maybe that's your punishment for coming here. I would overall give the food a 5 star. Staff a 1 star. read more

So disappointing! We arrived at 2:40 only to be told they can't serve us for "dining in" 15 minutes before closing. I looked at my watch and showed the girl at the register it was 2:40. She saw the time and said, "Oh well I'm only telling you what the owner tells me to say. I only work here!" I asked to speak to the owner who said "we have 20 minutes worth of orders to prepare and we have to close at 3:00. I can't keep my help longer and it takes 45 minutes to clean up." I told her maybe they should let customers know they stop serving 20 minutes before closing time, or advertise they close at 2:40. This seems like poor customer service and false advertising. I used to love the chicken sandwiches here. Today was not one of those days. I placed a order for lunch today. I ordered myself a charbroiled chicken sandwich. My daughter had a small ravioli. My grandmother had a small spaghetti and meatball. Portion for the small ravioli was laughable. There was not many small raviolis. And they were small. Small spaghetti and meatballs was a great portion but not enough sauce. All noodles very little sauce. My chicken sandwich was very greasy. I don't know if they hear the bun in butter or oil but it was greasy. And there was way too much Swiss cheese. I had to take a bun off and some of the cheese. I don't know if they just were very busy so they weren't paying attention or what. Now good thing there was a good amount of sauce in the ravioli container , no raviolis maybe 10 little ones. So I took leftover sauce and put on my grandmas spaghetti. If I come back it will be for the French dip or pastrami sandwich. read more

Absolutely amazing food at great prices. We walked in at 2:30 not knowing they closed at 3:00 and were still welcomed in with a smile and seated and served promptly. I ordered their lasagna and I could not finish it. I'm a big guy (6'3" 350 lbs). My wife ordered their mushroom sandwich. It was amazing. Don't let the exterior scare you away. It truly looks like a hole in the wall but this is not to be missed if your traveling through or live in the area. Great old west vibe inside and plenty of local beers for you to try. I got a sandwich and a side of raviolis. Their sandwich was really tasty but it was all in the homemade marinara sauce that they use. It was incredible and flavorful. The atmosphere was very relaxed and rustic. Super fitting for Oakdale and the service was very friendly. I received my food fairly quickly as well. read more

Stopped in again for another one of their fantastic hot pastrami sandwiches, called the pastrami Leo Camarillo here. It did not disappoint. It's priced super fair with the sandwich and a coke coming in a few bucks shy of $20. Service here is always friendly and with a smile! The restaurant is mostly wooden inside. It has a very western feel. You won't be disappointed. My buddy also loves the hot pastrami. Last 2-3 times he tried other items (rigatoni, lasagna) figuring it all must be that good. Sadly, according to him, they are a one shot wonder with that pastrami sandwich. I left five stars because I can't confirm that. I went to Subway for the first time in like 5 years. The sandwich was so awful and so expensive that it drove me to sit down and write this review. After all, it's easy to take places like this for granted. The truth is this place is a gem and deserves every fabulous review it gets even if I have to wait 30 more minutes for my take out orders as a result. The mixed Leo is incredible. The way the tangy mustard/mayo and mushrooms cut the richness of the beef and pastrami creates pure deliciousness. It should be the official sandwich of Oakdale as far as I'm concerned. The whole menu is top notch, though. The Italian Sub is a go to for me if I want a cold sandwich. I love the Chicken Dofino. The bacon jam on it is great. The broccoli salad is my favorite side. I've even tried making it at home, but it's not the same. Other reviews don't touch on the bread enough. A lot of these sandwiches work because the bread is fresh baked. I really appreciate that they put as much effort into the bread as they put into their meats. The service is always great. I think the worst part is they just get slammed at lunch time. You really need to plan especially for to go orders. Is it worth the wait? Absolutely! Don't believe me, then go eat a $17 subway sandwich and get back to me. I'll wait in your line every time.
