Im a frequent customer of ferrings deli for many years. Everything is always fresh and delicious. I always highly recommend it to all friends and family! Today was a different story I ordered my breakfast and a wrap for lunch when I arrived to pick it up the wrap was wrong I told the nice lady at the cashier when she brought the wrap back to the deli area the young man was shaking his head and giving me the WORST mean stare and I knew nothing nice was being said because the other man working with him gave me stare. This is HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. My Thankful Thursday features a special shout out to Ferring Deli. This Deli has been around as long as I've been alive and that proves how good the sandwiches and salads are here ! Ferring is located in the Grand Ave Fairview Shopping Mall on Grand and Baldwin Road. They make amazing sandwiches and salads and are especially known for catering ! I remember my parents stopping by here right before a class trip to pick up ham & cheese heroes for my brother and I or a delicious bacon, egg and cheese on a roll. Every New Yorker's staple breakfast. They serve quality meats here and all sandwiches and salads are plentiful and delicious. The staff are kind and they make sure they get you in and get you out. I frequently order omelette from here. This morning I ordered an egg white and it was the worst attempt at making an omelette that I ever saw and it came in a tiny cardboard box. The omelette was supposed to have onions, peppers, spinach and mushroom, my usual order. The peppers were huge not diced, and so were the onions, there was a clump of spinach and minimal egg whites. If you're really hungry get the omelette which is available on Saturday and Sundays. Hero's, salads, hot food are all freshly made and delicious. They even have homemade frozen TV dinners. I think because it's so busy on the weekends they give abrupt to no answers (the omelet guy ignored me from one foot away, until I just stopped asking what number are you on) at all. The next is the bread They have a marble rye that they slice by hand according to how thick you like your bread. My uncle was a volunteer fire fighter at the firehouse across the street from the shopping center that Ferring's is in and any event they had/have, is usually catered by them. I usually go there for sandwiches, and let me tell you, whatever you get should be on rye bread. They'll slice the bread fresh and they have options, too - marble, with caraway seads, without caraway seeds... any which way you choose, you'll be happy with your choice. It all started when one day I was planning to visit my pastor who lives around the Baldwin area and I told him I will pick up some lunch on the way and ask him for a good recommendation. Without hesitation he said PHAT CHARLES and I am like what the heck is that? he said it'll be one of the best sandwich you'll ever have. I was skeptical, now I know pastors don't lie but still you know being from the Queens/NYC area, we got some legit subs around the area... but I trust him and venture into Ferring Deli. Ferring Deli is bigger than your average NYC deli (guess being in LI), you have one side where they got plenty of seatings and the other side you order your food. Parking: located inside a strip mall, plenty of spots outside the parking lot. I went right up to the counter and took a look at the list of signature subs and there he is- the Phat Charles and then I discovered that Phat Charles got some friends that sounds pretty legit... so I did what a normal person would do and went ahead and order 5 sandwiches including: -Phat Charles (Fried Chicken Cutlet w/Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato and Melted Cheddar Cheese on a Hero) -Tuscany (Grilled Chicken Breast, Fire Roasted Peppers, Fresh Mozzzarella Cheese w/Lettuce and Balsamic Vinigrette on a Roll) -Sicilian (Ham, Cappy, Pepperoni, Genoa Salami, Provolone, Lettuce & Tomato, Onions, Oil & Vinegar on a Hero) -Joe's Hero (Roast Beef w/Melted Mozzarella on a Garlic Hero) -Eggplant Delight (Eggplant Parm, portabello mush, sweet pepper) They are all so delicious! they definitely don't skip out on the meat and try to pile them up to as high as they can get it to. Of the 5 subs, my favorite is definitely the Eggplant Delight and I am not even vegetarian. Deep Fried thinly sliced eggplant topped with cheese, along with some portobello mushroom, sweet red pepper, lettuce and tomato stuffed inside garlic hero bread... how much better can this get? you get so many layers of texture and flavor with every bite, it's not even funny- the crispy thinly sliced yet flavorful eggplant, add in the soft juicy portobello plus a little kick from the sweet red pepper plus the hot freshly toasted garlic bread... OMG total awesomeness!! and a MUST TRY!!! TIP: Make sure you eat it as soon as you can, leaving it inside the bag can cause it to turn soggy and mushy and therefore texture-less. Phat Charles is also a MUST, you really can't go wrong with chicken cutlet BLT and melted cheese on a hero! Price: Great! Most signature subs are priced at around $8- $10 and these subs are huge. Ferring Deli has been in business since 1968, they have been serving delicious food for over 50 years and that says a lot. You can't stay in business that long if you don't have great food and serve. It is a family owned business and they definitely make you feel like family. My family has been going to Ferring's since they moved here and bringing me since I was a baby. I remember going with my father when I was little, he would get a hero for us to share when we would go to the beach. I've also had so many friends work here over the years and still have a friend who does. Growing up I loved the chicken cutlets and any type of sandwich they were on. I'm still actually a huge fan. Their sandwiches in general are delicious due to always having the freshest Boars head cold cuts. The have some amazing salads as well, my favorite being the Dutch potato or German. It's always difficult for me to choose. At lunch they also have a hot buffet which always has a variety of delicious choices. Breakfast sandwiches are also awesome here, who doesn't love a bacon egg and cheese on a fresh roll. On Sunday the set up a custom omelet station, where you can pick your ingredients and watch them make it in front of you. I also can't forget about their fresh baked goods! DELICIOUS pies, muffins, cupcakes and more. Please if you haven't just go check Ferring Deli out. They just renovated the inside as well, giving it a modern look and it looks great. Ferrings just makes me so happy with their delicious sandwiches, pastas, and salads. I love their set up with salads. You just check off from a list what you want in your salad and hand it to the staff. Everything I've ever tried is always very tasty and fresh. The wraps and salads here are the best ones I've ever had from a deli. Everything is fresh and delicious. The portions are quite large. I'd recommend any of the wraps. I only tried the Marconi salad and Cole slaw, yet both were superb. The party platters are great for events and business functions. This place is slowly becoming my least favorite breakfast spot. Due to "high demand of bacon" they're now adding an additional $1 to any item with bacon. But that's not the reason for this review. I'm writing this review because in addition to adding an extra $1 for the bacon, the bacon is old, hard and they only give you two pieces, not to mention they have a mountain of bacon on the side. Maybe if they stop cooking an over abundance amount of bacon letting it sit there to get old and hard then they would be able to save cost and not over charge patrons. read more

You can get confused on making a choice because there are so many options; soup, cooked food, snacks, heros, wraps and pastries to name a few. I decided on a vegetable whole wheat wrap. It included portabella mushrooms, mozzarella, grape tomatos and red onions drizzled with balsamic vinegar, served warm. The vegetables were excellent and taste fresh. The wrap was soft not hard. The only thing I would change is to have less balsamic vinegar dressing on my veggies. The staff is extremely friendly and eager to help make and deliver your goods. I have been coming here for a few years to get lunch. The service has gotten worst as time went by. The young workers behind the counter act as if they are doing me a favor making my sandwich. As for the sandwiches someone needs to tell them when you slice the fresh rye bread the end pieces are not designed to make a sandwich. AGAIN today I got a half sandwich for the price of a full one.
