Worst management company I've ever had to deal with. In nearly 3 years I've never been late on my rent but had over 11+ service calls to repair my unit. And some clearly violating tenant laws like no hot water and they didn't want to replace my water heater. Had yo threathen to sue. And no heat in winter, took forever to get that fixed and froze with my kids inside. Gave me 1 small space heater for a 3 bedroom 2 story unit. Thansk alot! Had to threathen to sue. A leaking window that took over 2 years to properly replace. It ruined my rug from the water damage and curtains. A pipe burstvin the carport and damaged my csr and they refused to pay despite saying they would for repairs. Claiming they didnt see any damage. Yet 3 estimators saw damage? And everytime I complain about an issue I get a 3-day notice for my belongings in my carport which the owner had given me permission when I moved in prior to them being hired. Don't rent or hire them. Good tenants like me deserve a better and kinder management company. read more

They do not return tenants calls and when we finally get a hold of someone they are rude and hang up on us.

This property management company is the wrost management company I've ever seen around Inland Empire. They took over our apartment complex (2050 S. Euclid Ave., Ontario, CA91762) since mid 2013 after that apartment complex are getting wrost & dirty (laundry room, around the complex etc.). They increase the rent every freaken year. Their on site manager don't stay long (we've seen 5 managers within 4 years). I was living there almost 10 years (before this crappy management, owner had his own manager and they were pretty good) & now time to move, can't deal with this crappy management who doesn't know how to make tenant happy. + Great rates on apartments & apartment sizes are nice - Managment never returns calls - and I mean never once have they returned my call. In order to physically talk to them, you have to call, repeatedly, several times a day. NO JOKE. - Management changes hours (receptionist is always there well until 4.30pm, however the folks you NEED to talk to are never there) as the receptionist cannot make any decisions - she just passes calls along. - They are VERY VERY VERY uptight - They don't like kids but cannot admit that legally - They generally don't "care" about thier renters. Example - the laundry room got locked in our apartment building of 15 units. NO ONE in the building had a key - as the door has NEVER been locked before. (I've lived here several years). We called management, they said they don't have a key and don't know what to tell me. 4 days go by - FINALLY the door is replaced and a new key is under each doormat. WITHOUT notice or communication from management. REDICULOUS. Among other reasons, I would never rent from them again. read more

The property was beautiful obviously because of Fertig & Gordon Property Management Company they really take pride in their properties. This company is my favorite property management company in my entire 21 years as a renter. I've lived in a few different cities and many apartments. Most of the places have been lovely but it takes more than that for me and my family to be happy. We're the kind of tenants who like to make a house a home. As a renter, that's only possible to get that feeling when you are treated with respect and listened to by the management company / landlord. Pay the extra $50 a month to rent elsewhere or be prepared to stand your ground and get everything in writing. Fertig and Gordon gives you prompt service and lots of smiles at first. After a short honeymoon, you're a nuisance and your existence won't be acknowledged until you have to resort to withholding rent. Strike one. Infestations. It's not their fault that I missed the roach poo beneath the newspapers in the upper kitchen shelves and the termites underneath the cabinets, but it's unreasonable to expect me to live with bugs. Add pest control to the rental agreement or be prepared to do your own fumigation. Strike two. Lost my rent check! After six weeks of not cashing my check and not hearing a peep from them I had to go cancel it at my bank and write them two new ones. Get a receipt from Eleana every month. Sometimes she's actually helpful. Sometimes she'll insist you don't need one until you ask her again for the fourth time. Strike three. Poor maintenance. The windows wouldn't close anymore so they sent someone over to rip out my curtains, destroy the window hardware and seal up the edges -- with spackle. Not caulk, not barely minimal cheap slumlord-grade sealing goo, but Dap drywall spackling paste. I had a look at the the exterior stucco around the windows yesterday. You can still smoosh your fingerprints into it. So sad. Final strike. Malicious lying. The toilet flooded human nastiness all over the bathroom and hallway carpet on a Saturday. Their message service sent a plumber but on Monday the after hours number mysteriously disappeared and they refused to pay the plumber they sent, sticking us with the $350 bill. We should have waited until their business hours to fill out a maintenance request form to get a record of this incident. Silly me. The normal neighbors never stayed long. Who's still there? The unemployed busybodies who stick their trashy old furniture or appliances on the sidewalk but get upset at having to walk around the other way when you're moving your couch. read more

I have live in an apartment complex managed by Fertig and Gordon Co for almost 3.5 years. I originally lived in their one bedroom apartment for three years and recently moved into a bigger two bedroom apartment. This apartment complex has great residents and Romell (Apt. Manager) is exceptional at managing this property. Romell has always been attentive to all my phone calls, she listens and cares about my concerns, has continuously helps me with maintenance issues and is very knowledgably. One time my garbage disposal stopped working. I tried to fix it, my dad tried and my boyfriend. I called her and the next day she was over and it literally took her about 2 minutes. I was amazed. I had an issue with my blinds and she knew exactly what the problem was just by my description over the phone. They were fixed soon after. My new apartment was taking on a bit too much water in the front porch during the heavy rain event on 1/8/2018. I called her and she had someone bring me sand bags within 90 minutes. She has called a few times since to make sure everything is ok and let me know how we can prevent this from happening again. This last event prompted me to write this review. She has helped me continuously and I have just mentioned a few here. It makes a huge difference when you live at a place where the manager (Romell) truly cares, maintains good communication, is always responsive, has excellent work ethics and is professional at all times. read more

Yeah I would agree with Mama D's assessment as well. This is your fairly slow to respond, typical apartment managerial company. If you are in the unfortunate position of renting from them, document, document, document. This is the type of outfit rules, laws and regulations were written for. I'm very certain they're no stranger to having to litigate things. My sincere advice is that since there are many many choices to make out there, go with anyone else other than Fertig and Gordon. Simple as that - you'll save yourself a lot of frustration. They might be a great company that manages your property if you're renting it out - but if you're on the other end of that equation, get ready for inflexibility, a "fumbly bumbly" office staff, things that get lost in the mail, and delays delays delays. Make sure you dot your "I"'s and cross your "T"'s with this group. They are very much rule and policy driven in as much as it benefits them. Don't extend them any courtesy or politeness as you will get NONE in return. They are the textbook "landlord" company you always read and hear about - nothing particularly vindictive or nasty about them, but are as personable and reasonable as a brick wall. The only way to have any leg up on this group is to get everything in writing and record everything said and done and by whom - which to be fair is really as it should be with anyone these days - however with this team it needs to be done to PREVENT them from taking advantage you - not for the sake of transparency and clarity.
