This bar is annoying, especially on the weekends. Not to be a dick, but the B&T factor is way too high.

This place is adorable and comfortable, two excellent and lacking qualities in village bars. Tons of nooks, a cranny or three, and cider. Check-plus. Unfortunately, they also currently employ the fucking stupidest waitress I've ever encountered, including 16-year-old Denny's employees. When asked if they had cider, said: "I think so. It's, um, that one..." Me: "Magner's? Woodchuck?" Her: "Ummm, I'll go find out." Five minutes later: "Magners." Me: "Is it on tap or in a bottle." Her: "Ummm, hmm, I don't know." Me: "Can you please find out?" Every interaction involved her not having a goddam clue, including getting our check, getting change for a 20, letting us move to a different portion of the bar where there was a party reserved (which didn't show up during the next THREE HOURS our group was there)...I could go on, but I'm going to assume that she has since succumbed entirely to amnesia and/or been run over by a bus. Fiddlesticks, please take advantage of this opportunity to hire someone that's not a dipshit. Then I can happily come back to your pleasant establishment. read more

If you like drunk friendly girls go here. They pack in from about 11 on Friday and Saturday. They even come up to you in the street and ask you to join them. If you dont like drunk friendly girls, maybe the men appeal but I wouldnt know. read more

I agree with most of these reviews. I've come here a few times in the last year but you have to be here at a specific time during the week to get a decent experience. I appreciated it most on a low key Wednesday night where it was relatively quiet but not by any means, dead. On a Saturday night, things can be going just right until your college frat boys and Long Island Gotti-style blow backs infiltrate the scene with stupid scantily dressed gals. The last time I was here was with a buddy and it instantly turned into a drunken meat head shrine with poor service (the waiters forget you exist). However, I like the fact that the bar is at the center and the bathrooms aren't difficult to access although you do have to walk up a flight of stairs- not easy when hammered. The food is delicious but typical of an Irish Pub. I'd recommend as an extended mid-week stay and a Friday or Saturday night pit stop. read more

My friend and I were supposed to go to The Meatball Shop but the line was too long and we were starving. Fiddlesticks it was! Lets start with the weird- the hostess. Was there one? I couldn't tell. I guess it was the girl wearing black picking plates off a table? I guessed yes, so I asked for a table for two outside. She said "you seat yourself and grab a menu on your way" UM OKAY? Thanks. She was bizarre- asking if we wanted waters? I thought that's pretty standard for a restaurant to give waters especially when we didn't have drinks in our hands. Now, the food. OMG SO GOOD. My friend and I both got the Turkey, stuffing and cranberry on ciabatta bread. Worth the weird service for sure. You get your choice of side (awesome) so I chose the Jameson fries. That sauce was BANGIN. Highly recommended to slather on any sandwich and dip your fries in. Great vibe, especially people watching on a nice night mid-March. read more

I actually had a good experience here...I wouldn't say it's the best, but what actually made me like this place was the bouncers...which is really strange compared to the other reviews I read. I came here last may 2008, and it was my first time in NYC. It was my first night in the city, and I was already off to a crappy start (I had left my I.D. at home...yes, they still let me fly..interesting huh?, and I forgot my contacts on the plane... so I had to wear my glasses all weekend...I felt like such a dork!) Anyhow, that night we decide to just go have dinner in that area and then when I got my ID fedexed to me in the morning, we would go out the next night...so we were walking around when we stumbled onto fiddlesticks, and I got the bright idea of why don't we just eat in there and then stay for the late night. When we got to the door, unfortunately there was a bouncer asking for ids...I just told him the truth that I forgot my id in Cali and all my troubles up until then, I guess he felt sorry for me cause he was like fine go in, but you can't drink...I'll be watching you! So, I was soo grateful..as where my friends...and he actually really was watching me...and although I did think about actually getting a drink, I thought I would be truthful and i didn't buy a drink the whole night! We still had fun dancing, there was a lot of college boys there...some cute ones too...and the area in front of the bar was packed because it became the dance floor, but I still had a great time...and everytime we went outside for a cigarette break, the bouncers were super nice to us...but I could see how they could be a little rough around the edges, but to me they were my angels! Best Take-Out Burger in the 'Hood! While I have never ventured here for the bar scene, I opted to try their take-out after I saw on GrubHub they delivered. Hands down the best burger I've ever had from any restaurant that delivers AND the fries were delicious, too! I ordered the "Build your own burger" medium-rare, and it was perfectly medium rare, not a dry hockey puck, but a delectable, tender medium -rare patty nestled between a lovely bun with lettuce, tomato and red onion. Worth every cent, and arrived within 30 minutes. Sweetest delivery guy who made eye contact, and not only thanked me but added "...really appreciate it". :-) read more

Brunch for $10..with 2 free drinks...and quarter beers for the first quarter on Monday night football...any beer ...I love this place for the above reasons...but also the Monday night bartender is awesome...and their sister bar "Galloway Hooker" is where we go every Saturday for USC football...granted I would never go either place late night on the weekends because I am not a fan of the bridge and tunnel crowd...but regardless...two of my favorite bars in the city. read more

Funny little place. Great wait staff that was insanely accommodating for out party if 11. Who doesn't love a round of free shots for checking in by the way. The tables were very cool and little decor reminds me of an old bar without the smell and dinge of an old bar. Food was fine, drinks were great. I went here a few weeks ago to meet up with friends, and immediately loved it. It's dark without being dingy, has a variety of different kinds of seating and nooks to share a drink with a friend or with a group, and has pretty typical drink prices for a pub-type place. Mediocre at night. I've heard nice things for the brunch crowd, but so-so for a nighttime outing has the feel and look of a homey rustic bar but as crowded and noisy as a club. Music throwbacks were nice but I would either go somewhere quieter to talk to friends and not be bumped into or a club, too in-between. read more

We love Fiddlesticks. Good beers, and an authentic Irish atmosphere and decent wines by the glass. Its a mad-house on the weekend but that's par for the course and great if you're in the mood for it. Extremely friendly bar staff, excellent food and fun music make it the place we like to start and/or end an evening out. Nice overall atmosphere, good happy hour, strange service. My sister and I were low on funds and looking online for a place in the Village with a super cheap happy hour. We settled on Fiddlesticks, which we were sure would turn out to be a typical, and therefore forgettable, run-of-the mill Irish pub. We were therefore extremely surprised and impressed by the charming decor - antique furnishings, gilded mirrors, amber lighting, and eclectic seating nooks made things both laid back and romantic. A sweet back room with a pool table, comfy couches, a dart board, and a second bar that was not currently staffed looked to be a very promising space for a private party. Stairs flanked by another large mirror led to the restrooms, which were hidden away on a second floor that could easily be turned into another area for guests but was instead seemingly being used as a place for the venue to store its junk...the space almost looked like an abandoned museum. The bathroom was in disrepair, which was unfortunate. The beer selection was small, but solid. If only it was served well. The young, spacey bartender poured me an overly frothy and slightly warm IPA after he finally noticed us waving right in front of him for a good five minutes (there were other people at the bar, but I wouldn't say it was busy at all). He knew nothing about the wine selection other than that he didn't like it. Other staff members were milling around somewhat aimlessly, even though there were people there to assist. There was no dress code for staff, so it was hard to tell who worked there and who didn't. There was only that one space cadet dude behind the bar, and he wasn't doing much to keep up with, or even take orders. Hoping we got them on a bad night, because the happy hour prices and the atmosphere were quite nice. read more

Even though the food (appetizers only) and drinkers were tasty and reasonably priced, the service was truly horrific, the worst I have ever had. Our server spilled two drinks on one of our party members (not two at once, two separate different occasions) never apologized to her, and simply threw a towel in her direction. Her cloths were soaked the remainder of the evening. He tried to serve the wrong drink twice, and when question insisted he was correct, and we, by no exaggeration, had to ask for water 6/7 times and he only brought one cup for a table of six, thank goodness we like to share. Went there for lunch, even though we were the only ones in the bar the service was very slow. The shepherds pie is great though and the food was worth the wait. My only real complaint was this strong smell of paint fumes and it gave me a migraine the waitress refused to open the doors to air the bar because it was a tad cold outside. Fiddlesticks is not just an average joe pub. It is a guaranteed great time. A friend has been suggesting it for a while so I finally went in with two friends during happy hour. Happy hour only happens inside the restaurant, not outside, which is a bummer but we still had a great time. The ambiance is relaxed and it doesn't feel as pub because of how big it is. They were playing oldies/throwback songs. Our server, Steven, was awesome. He was a great time and was very attentive. He was honest with what we should and should not order from the food menu. My friend got the burger with fried egg it was delicious, My other friend and I split the fish and chips. Fiddlesticks fries are glorious. Steven bought us all a round of Fireball shots and was just a really chill waiter in general, making sure we were all having a fun time. 4 drinks and a shot in, my friends and I certainly were having a good time. Came here for drinks after work. Was very hard to get bartenders attention even though he wasn't very busy. Drinks were good though. Didn't order he food so I can't comment on that but overall I'm not sure we'd be back, too many other good places in the area. read more

From the minute I walked in I fell in love with the pub. It is beautiful with a very hipster feeling and epic music in the back ground that half the staff is singing along with.
