The staff members are helpful & friendly with helping you choose the perfect brew for you'd prices are decent for Napa. Really special beers here, and in a great setting. Was visiting from the LA (Torrance) area where we're proud of our locs like Monkish, Smog City etc. During our bay area getaway the wife got to visit three oyster bars; I got to visit three breweries. We stopped at Almanac, Russian River and Fieldwork. Fieldwork was my favorite, one because I'd never had their beer and two because they've clearly taken the time to *craft* some honest yet adventurous craft beer. Had Island Time, Virtual Planetoid and Hannah as well as splashes of a few others on the menu. Island Time was one of the tastiest sours I've had, VP was a proper palate smasher and Hannah was truly transcendent. But you definitely don't have to be a beer geek to appreciate their concoctions. Had to leave with a couple growlers even though I live 300+ miles away and can't get em refilled any time soon. Or maybe I'll make a special trip, we'll see. It'd be worth it. FIELDWORK has a cool little tap room in the Oxbow Market in downtown Napa. There's about 20 stools and maybe 15 beers on tap to enjoy there, or get your growler fill. I had two double IPAs. The Supercell is a danky 8.4%, and the King Citra as a citrusy and juicy 8.7% masterpiece. The Supercell was good, but King Citra was elite. I got a couple of cans of that to go. Nice to have a great beer spot in the middle of wine country. 4.5 stars! read more

This review is more for the employees (or owners, not sure who staffs the bar) than the beer. The beer was okay, nothing to distinguish it from a million other local breweries appearing every week everywhere. We tried 4 different brews and 3 were good, one was less so but that's probably subjective. What could have turned good beer into a great experience was friendly staff who were helpful instead of arrogant and dismissive. We sat down during a quiet spell, only 4 other people there at the time. The male staff member was not at all welcoming. We looked up at the board, and we asked him a couple questions. His answers were curt and impatient, because clearly we should already have known everything before even entering. What really burned me was that he was so unwilling to answer our questions but he never directed us to the little ring-bound menu of descriptions they have available! We would have happily looked at it if we'd know it existed! Instead, we dealt with attitude-boy, placed our order, and then saw another customer looking at the ring-bound list. Great, thanks. There was also a woman working while we were there but she never so much as looked our way, was not friendly to anyone. We drank our beers with no interaction from Mr. Personality and then paid and left. Won't be back. There are WAY too many great breweries to support this one. read more

Good service, but it gets very crowded and can take a while to get an order in. Some of the beer was outstanding, but some was pretty weird.

I did not care for most of the drafts here, but that is not why I rated the place low. After all, it would be impossible to love all the beer everywhere I go, so that's not their fault. I was here early in the summer with a friend of mine and the server working that day was arrogant , sarcastic & dismissive. I sat down and asked if the restaurant next door (which is what we had come to Oxbow for) was closed and he responded with some rude comment. My friend asked some questions, which he did answer, but he had no interest in teaching us about any of their beer and acted like we were beneath him. Well I have mixed feelings about my visit here. I'll start with the good and end with the negative. The bar had a nice atmosphere if you like this little shopping center, you're able to bring outside food in as we saw with a group of people eating off of a very large loaf of bread which I might add looked delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive and I liked the the options they had if you wanted to bring some beer with you. Given the taste of the beer not blowing my mind but still enjoyable I would have given this establishment 4 stars had it not been for one issue that I could not shake. There was an option to choose any of the on tap beers and get them to go in a can however it was filled right in front of you. I personally thought it was neat and planned on grabbing a couple until I saw that someone else ordered one and after it was filled and sealed they dipped it in a bucket that in my opinion was beyond disgusting. The bucket should not be cleaned at this point but instead needs to be replaced. When you visit anywhere that offers food or beverage a great visit can be destroyed by a lack in cleanliness. I am not dropping my rating to a 1 because the glasses and the rest of the brewery appeared to be clean but today that bucket cost them the sale of at least 2 extra beers. read more

If you like fresh craft beer, you simply can't go wrong with Fieldwork Brewing. I've been to several of their locations and have yet to be disappointed in any way. Their brews cover a number of different styles but they are particularly masterful when it comes to the many varieties of IPAs. But if you don't like IPAs, don't let that stop you from giving them a try. We sampled a raspberry sour during a recent visit and my wife loved it...even though she normally won't touch a sour. One other thing to recommend Fieldwork Brewing? I have never experienced anything negative with any of their beertenders...always pleasant, professional and informative. read more

This is a long overdue review, and would be 5 stars just for the beer. But I want to mention the manager, Curstin, who worked with me to order growlers for my wedding. Even though the venue messed up and only served half of what we brought in, our guests loved the beer and Curstin did every thing to make the process easy. She even brought over a couple of beers on the house to my officiant and I when we stopped by before the ceremony to shake off some nerves. Thanks Curstin!! read more

I really wanted to love this place. Napa has no good craft beer options in town. We went to Fieldwork last night. The staff were helpful and super polite so that's a plus, but the "beer"... yikes! To put it out there I am a woman that likes her beer to taste like beer. Rouge, Stone, Napa Smith, Speakeasy, are commercial ones I really enjoy...even Anchor Steam on occasion. This place likes to experiment so much that you really question if you are drinking beer or not. The atmosphere left a lot to be desired as well. I felt like I was drinking in a mall food court. Bright and annoyingly hard to just sit and relax with a killer pint of ale. The ale was not killer and the environment was not relaxing. If you are a beer/craft brew lover, I'd just wait for Stone Brewery to open up across the street. Now that's exciting! read more

I would love to see them occupy more room & add food options etc. - Given that they are in the Oxbow Market, they just have a sit at bar...but their beer is exquisite! Lots of varieties, good prices (comparatively to other breweries)... they also offer "crowlers" & "growlers" to go. If you're a beer drinker then definitely make this a must to stop by & try a flight. read more

The beer here is AMAZING!!! ;) Even though there is only stool seating, which I would say there are about 12-15 stools total, there is also a standing area right behind the counter. So this area can be a tight fit but its a good opportunity to meet new people and stir up some fun conversation. Anyways, my BF and I got the sampler (comes in 6 glasses) since there were too many good options to choose from! We got the Imperial coconut hot chocolate, Night Moves, Mexican imperial stout (nitro), coconut imperial stout, Party Cove, and Galaxy Juice. The one I enjoyed the least was the Mexican Imperial Stout. Even my BF, who is a fan if nitro beers, did not like that one. For me it just had a unusual and distasteful flavor. However, all the other ones we really enjoyed!! Whats also great is that their beers are rich and flavorful. I highly recommend the Imperial Coconut Hot Chocolate and Party Cove! Those two were really good and definitely memorable! The Party Cove was fruity and refreshing! We enjoyed them so much that we bought more to bring back home with us to share with friends/family. If you want to buy their beers to go, they can fill it up in a can or growler for you. Super awesome! Oh and they have board games available if you want to play some games while enjoying your beer! Stopped in this brewing co several times during our visit to Napa and it's amazing!! Finally a decent brewery in Napa!!! We did several flights and every single beer is solid! The staff is very friendly and we really enjoyed coming here. It's located in a marketplace setup that's really cool. We were allowed to order food from one of the many yummy food stops and eat it at the brewing spot, which was great. Looking forward to coming back and visiting in the future! Only complaint is I can't get this beer in Austin :( or buy cans to bring back to my friends...oh well, guess we'll just have to frequent Napa a little more often...darn...lol!! read more
