Upon our arrival, we were instructed to seat ourselves & we're quickly attended by a server. The ambiance was nice, they have an indoor outdoor setup & they had live music. They have a variety of cocktails, which were very pretty & flavor wise were good -- though I don't feel like they measured up to their price tag. In Distill of the Night Napa Valley's first distillery (2017) since Prohibition, that features a bevy of signature spirits that take from a Ginn and Brandy to Whisky and Bourbon. I was gifted a surprise visit by my love on a recent trip to Napa. Which is a really big give, considering she's not into spirits like I am. The Good: *Our Spirit guide, Theodore, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and generous with the tasting pours. *You might get lucky and visit when they're bottling their wares, and that's quite the adventure watching. *Get a Groupon to cut the tasting price in half from $90/2 to $45/2 and a $10 credit towards items purchased from the store on your visit. *I enjoyed all the spirits we sampled, but I surprisingly really enjoyed their ginn, which has a great juniper berry flavor. *Great décor, vibe, and atmosphere in their tasting room/speakeasy. The Meh: *Some of the prices are a little high for what you get, but it's not surprising given the locale. *All their spirits are bottles at 80 proof. I really don't care that much--altho I'd love to try some cask-strength stuff--but I know some people do. The Ugly: *Not surprisingly, the neighborhood they're located in is a lil' sus... Our trip started a little stressful, no fault of Napa Valley Distillery. Google Maps took me to the back of the building. We did see some very very healthy large chickens but we were like, "this isn't the right place". We called and they had us go around to the other side of the building and we were off and running. Our tour guide was pretty awesome and we were lucky to be part of only three couples and the other couples added a lot of fun to the experience. We enjoyed many of the spirits but ended up with a bottle of Old Hollywood Cocktail. There were many bottles that we would have like to take home if we had a car but we flew in and we were taking the train home. Went on a girls trip to Napa and one of my friends doesn't drink wine so I wanted to make sure we hit a distillery. The location is tucked away and hidden. But once you find it, you'll be pleasantly surprised. If you want a tour make sure you call and make a reservation. The outside as well as inside is just fabulous!!! The inside has cool 60's vintage going on. The mixologist Alexander is a pure gem, give that guy a raise!!! He made our drinks and our visit so wonderful. He surprised one of my friends with a drink, and it's one of the most stunning cocktails I have ever seen! It was topped with dried flowers, and a butterfly!!! It was almost too pretty to drink! Our host Adan was nice and also very knowledgeable. Learning about the process of making and distilling spirits was really informative. The pourings were fair and tasted great. Be warned, while they are following state law with pour amounts, this is still a lot of booze. Make sure to have a sober driver, this tasting is not for the weak. read more

Loved everything about this place, the theme, vibe, and packaging of their bottles. The tour of their facility and the educational piece is unmatched. It was cool to see where they actually make their product and see how small their operation is. The full-lit bar upstairs and antique furniture made you feel like you were sent back to the roaring 20s. I loved the technique lesson on how to drink spirits and the demonstration of doing both ways and tasting the difference. Some of them were obviously a lot stronger than others but doable. Each of their bottles was very cute and petite and the labels are very unique. Everything is handmade. We were so impressed, we walked out with a membership haha! We had such a great time at the Distillery. We found this distillery through a local guide book at our hotel, and we are so glad that we found the time to stop here! We got a great tour and tasting from Alexander - he was extremely knowledgeable, taught me the proper way to sip whiskey, and just gave us such a fun whiskey tasting. The tastings are done on their second floor in a little speakeasy type fashion that made the tasting that much more enjoyable! They also have the Hollywood Bar as part of their distillery, where you can also try cocktails with their whiskey. We wished it had been open when we were there, but we cannot wait to return one day to try it! A must stop in Napa. I used a Groupon for a tasting at the Napa Valley Distillery and it was a great deal! My group was a little late for the tasting, so we missed the tour but our guide was awesome and redid the tour for us once we finished our tasting! The tasting consisted of 6 different drinks and then we could try additional ones that are available for purchase (if you purchase a bottle, part of the Groupon goes towards the total). After the tasting, my friends and I got drinks down at the Hollywood room. They have a ton of different cocktails and mock tails. When he finally made it to this place. The wife and I have been waiting to go here for almost 2 years now. And we finally made it. It was worth the wait. Parking on a Monday was very easy and of course we made an appointment so we can sit down and chill out and get our drinks. Even though they were short staffed we still got what we ordered and it tasted great I got the mai tai and it was on point. I like the fact that you had options either sit outside on some tables and some stools or you can sit inside and the Hollywood Brown it was a nice little spot to sit and chill. The Hollywood Room is a true hidden gem drowning in the sea of wine. Since I don't love wine, but still love heading up to Napa/Sonoma, I wanted to try something different to spice up the day. Who'd of thought someone in there 50's didn't know? Well I didn't made the tasting so great, I could taste the flavors of each alcohol without the burning nose . I'm not a fan of sweet, however the Lemon Drop was great and the Bourbon Cordial was as well. After tasting we enjoyed more drinks and food in the Hollywood room, so authentic, comfy, and welcoming. This unique place makes me love living in Napa even more. We started hanging out here to enjoy their cigar area-- essentially, it's a partially enclosed patio located outside of the main building. While they offer a decent selection of sticks, we've brought our own with no problems. The people who work at the Distillery start to feel like family after a short time, because they are genuinely warm and kind people. The cocktails are sublime. That said, we are usually beer people and they always have a small and well curated selection of beers on tap. We've enjoyed delicious snacks from their kitchen-- the fancy hard boiled eggs were a highlight-- and sometimes they have a pop-up vendor. We joined their club and now enjoy a free club cocktail each visit in addition to picking up a bag of lovely alcoholic beverages and mixers on a quarterly basis. I really like supporting a local family and enjoying their craftsmanship. It's fun to see how other visitors enjoy the main space-- they offer music, comedy, tastings, and more! Looks like it's a popular spot for dates and it's not uncommon to see people with well behaved dogs sitting at the outside tables. read more

Decor is outstanding and Chris walked me through the history of the distillery as well as the science behind taking shots (strange, I know, but incredibly insightful). I, myself, am not a huge whiskey person, but Chris tailored the experience to my flavor preferences! The pourings were more than adequate - you're not necessarily going to get hammered at 11:00. All wined out? Look no further. Napa Valley Distillery is the place to be for some uplifting spirits! My bf loves craft cocktails, so NVD was right up his alley! We arrived a bit early and were welcomed by Arthur at the newly opened Hollywood bar in front of the building. Decorated totally retro, it's a blast from the past! The Hollywood has a pretty extensive craft cocktail menu, so it was hard to narrow it down, but we settled on two house creations: the Portofino and the Reservoir dog. Not only were they eye-catching, they were so delicious! Arthur stopped by to check in on us and mentioned the pretty little bits floating on top of my Portofino were dried hibiscus and anise. Such nice, thoughtful touches. I absolutely LOVED my drink! Arthur is a mixology magician! The tour and tasting by Theodore and Antony was informative. It's cool they bottle some of their concoctions so they're ready to enjoy straight away. No need to do all that measuring and mixing yourself! I can't wait to try our loot at home...and return to Napa Valley Distillery for more house creations! read more

After posting my review last night, I got a call from the distillery. The gentleman I spoke with said he never got my emails (the same email I sent last night, that he called me from), and that he never got any of the phone messages I left. He said they recently got a new phone and computer system and there had been some issues. He was very apologetic and said that he would send me a order sheet which he did to modify my order. I just tried to call to do the modification and it went straight to voice mail again. I just sent another email and hope to hear from them as the club order is to still. If this is resolved I will change my review accordingly. read more

First time here but won't be the last. The entrance takes you to the distillery but we decided to go to the Hollywood room to have some drinks. The drinks were just delicious! I don't like my drinks very sweet and they make them just right here. Also the waiters are very knowledgeable we asked for recommendations and I loved both that they recommended. Started with the Strawberry coast it had a sweet and tart flavor and just the right amount of alcohol. Then I got the Portofino which I actually preferred because it was a bit more tart but just as delicious. We saw they also have some food & saw others getting some and it looked really good so we will definetly try those next. Prices are reasonable for what you get in the drinks. I had a friend from home visit from out of town and Napa used to be her stomping grounds to go out. Her younger sister recommended hitting up the Hollywood Room at the Napa Valley Distillery. I've never really heard of it or seen it on social media but I looked it up online to make a reservation for 2 on a Thursday evening after Thanksgiving. There was a reservation available after 7pm and it's located not too far from downtown but while you're on your way there you might feel like you're about to head into a tow truck place but don't worry you're in the right area. It's tucked in a corner and they do offer tours but we just booked a tasting in the Hollywood Room. The staff are very friendly and there were only a couple of other people there. Their cocktails are handcrafted and super good and strong!! All of the servers recommended different drinks for us to try based upon what we usually like to drink. I think we got the Flamenco and Playa Azul to start and had another round but I couldn't remember what the other drinks were but all so good. Comes with complimentary water bottles and we were hungry and ordered their deviled eggs and pepperoni pizza which was also really good! Their Hollywood Room is a nice room to sit and take pics in and they have an area connected to outdoor seating. I would definitely recommend making a reservation and bringing some friends for catching up over a drink here. read more

Started our day trip in Napa sparking wine tasting, wine tasting and topped it off with spirits. As soon as we got there, we were by the outdoor seating of the "The Hollywood Room". So pretty! A necessary during post covid era. We embarked our tour with Alexander where he shared history and progress of their hand-crafted drinks. Went upstairs to the Grand Tasting Salon and it was so beautiful! Starting our way with a flight of 6 drinks, taken away by the variety of tasty drinks and even learned the life-changing "Booze Yoga" (WHY ISN'T THIS TAUGHT everywhere?!?). A couple of the people from my party joined the Club and we definitely took advantage of the member's discount--purchased everything we tasted. I sat at the bar top and as soon as the bartender kindly told us it was not available, we moved and apologized. It also only was me and my wife, the rest of the party had not arrived yet. I not once removed my mask. I understand he is trying to sell a story but I made a review based on my experience. There are plenty of positive reviews, and I believe you most likely have a great time. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. First let me say that I really enjoy wine, I enjoy having a glass with my meal, attending tasting, and touring vineyards. But after a couple days of visiting several vineyards and tasting rooms I was ready for something else. Napa Valley Distillery really satisfied the craving for something a little higher proof and the tour was awesome. Theodore was a great guide, walking us through their site and explaining what was done onsite in at their location. We were able to chat about their still, their blending and distillation process, and how they were experimenting with different grains and casks. Since it was just the two of us on the tour it was very intimate and allowed us to really dive into what they are producing. Following the tour it was upstairs to the Grand Tasting Salon which was beautiful. Love the bar and wall of whisky lining the shelves, we were able to taste several of their offering including their rum, rye,and bourbon. The booze yoga method was cool and Theodore was the perfect guide through their product line. After we were done, he pointed us to their tasting spot at the Oxbow open market since we also wanted to try some of their brandy. We did visit the Oxbow location and ended up purchasing a couple bottles to take home with us. Looks like they will also have a working kitchen soon as they were in the middle of putting it together. The kitchen will allow them to prepare and serve food and make it an even better experience. My recommendation if you are a whisky nerd/enthusiast to stop by and visit with these folks after you've had your fill of wine. It's worth the stop to support this craft distiller! read more
