How absolutely disappointed am I? I have been going to Mexicana almost weekly since I moved around the corner from it a couple of years ago. Today I went and asked for MILD salsa and was told it was discontinued! How do you discontinue MILD salsa!?!? Everyone doesn't have a cast iron tongue, throat or stomach! I LOVE Mexican and this is my favorite place in the Valley, but the fact that you are disregarding customers that can't tolerate that hot ass lava you serve as salsa is DISAPPOINTING!!! Such a great local restaurant! Vibrant decorations and warm atmosphere. Went on a weekday in the evening and had fast, friendly service. Highly recommend the margarita, best value on the menu and a variety of flavors to choose from. Food was very tasty with biggish portions; however, entrees are still expensive. Ugh, wanted to love this place. Chips & Salsa were amazing! Ordered a combo plate that included a chimichanga, burrito and chili relleno. We requested ground beef in both the chimichanga & burrito, unfortunately they sent the burrito out with chicken. They replaced the burrito with a new one made with ground beef that was cold inside and the plate was lava hot. Makes no sense. All the items were cold and if you tipped the plate, water ran out of them. The server was supper nice, but I would still give her 1 star since not once during the meal did she stop over and asked if we needed anything or how the food was. The place was 90% empty so no excuse for poor service. Oh well, definitely wouldn't recommend. read more

This place use to be yummy! My friend and I enjoyed this place in the past and have tried to return multiple times to see if they were just having a bad day. Sadly, our last visit on Friday was even a greater disappointment. We share the Mexican pizza, just look at the difference in my photos....they were once delicious and now it s an insult....a flour tortilla sprinkled with a few beans and toppings. We were in the mood for authentic Mexican food and Fiesta Mexicana came highly recommended by a friend. I can see why. The food was really delicious and fresh. The enchiladas had tom of flavor without being salty. The rice and beans were absolutely perfect. It was very busy Tuesday lunch crowd and it was bit noisy inside but quieted down when two big parties left. The service was fast when we were able to get a table. Very satisfying meal overall. This place is a serious joke, they charge $3.99 for plain iced tea and you're only allowed one refill after that. You have to pay an additional $3.99. The staff were nice and friendly and the drinks were good. The house Margarita comes out on fire which was pretty cool. But the food is not good, at least what we had. I'm going to say my food was just ok. My friends ordered the steak fajitas and a combo plate with tamales. I tasted my friends tamale and it was so bad. If you've ever had canned hormel tamales (I'm embarrassed to admit I have) Then this was the texture and flavor. The fajitas had very little flavor also. Now that being said....the drinks were so good! We ordered a cheese crispy as an appetizer and that was fine. We also had the nicest waitress. So the service was great. I wanted to like this place. I wanted to love it. But alas, it wasn't in the cards. And for the record, I revisited this place 3 times before I wrote this review. So I'll be kind and give it 3 stars which, in Yelp world, means "average." You're not gonna rave about it, but you're not going to walk out disgusted. It's serviceable Mexican food. Nothing more. If you want to know specifics, I'll give you my opinion: First, everything was wayyyyy too salty. That sounds nitpicky, but as a former chef, I'll tell you that salt to this level is just wrong. It makes the food hard to eat. Ok, the salsa (which is one true measure of a Mexican restaurant) was so loaded with cumin that I thought I was in an Indian restaurant. The tamales were a huge slab of mass with only a minuscule morsel of beef inside. And they were dry. The enchiladas were ok, but the shredded beef was overpowered with salt and cumin again. The rice was dry and hard, and the beans were bland. Overall, this place suffered from what I call the "Arizona Mystery." That's the fact that Arizona shares an entire border with Mexico, yet it has only average Mexican food that doesn't come even close to what you find in Texas, New Mexico, or California. I know; it's weird. So come here and have an ok meal. The service was great and the people were friendly and upbeat. Great feel inside and nice decor. You'll feel at home in no time. Nothing wrong with the place, just very average for my taste, but I'm a commercial pilot and I eat Mexican food in every state I go to. Overall: meh. read more

I love the vibrant decor in this restaurant. The food was fantastic. I had a combo platter with a cheese enchilada and a tostado, served with rice and beans. It was delicious. My daughter also enjoyed her combo platter. The highlight of our dining experience was Eduardo, our server. He expertly explained menu items, inquired about our allergies, and was incredibly helpful. He has the BEST personality--so friendly, funny, and amazing! He made our dining experience exceptional. I wish he could teach a customer service class to all servers! read more
