Average Mexican food in a storefront restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is simple and very basic with good indoor seating and a very casual, relaxed atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I didn't find the menu very inspiring ND seemed to lean heavily on breakfast items, although I was here for dinner. Looking over the items I selected the Carne Asada Torta, a simple sandwich that came with a side of fries. The sandwich was good enough but the bread was extremely soft and the entire sandwich just fell apart. The meat and ingredients were just OK, nothing special and the taste ordinary at best. I did appreciate the extra amount of jalapeños. The fries were also just OK, on the shoestring style and in a metal basket. After we arrived a basket of chips were brought to the table and in lieu of the usual salsa there was a bean dip. Again, all just OK and not very inspiring. I had a Maria's margarita that was watered down and not so satisfying, plus a large plastic container of water. Service was very friendly and helpful but after we were served entirely disappeared. We sat for a long time waiting for a check and finally got up and paid at the back counter. Perhaps that's protocol, yet who would know it. Undoubtedly, there's better Mexican fare out there, but for a quick, simple meal this may suffice just fine. read more

Great service and great flavors in everything we had. We had the chicken sopes with rice and beans and rolled tacos with rice and beans. Both were full of flavor and delicious! The chips and bean dip was awesome. The beans had a nice spice to it when dipping the chip in them was very nice surprise. Planning on going in for breakfast next time. The food is always amazing. We really like the grilled cheese Brea sandwich with fries for $10.99 and I always get the Brea special to tacos beans and rice for $10. The service is always amazing. The ambience is good. It's pretty quiet for the most part, but they are consistently busy there are times you can come in when they're not busy, but their food is amazing. Several types and heat levels available. In addition to salsa, other toppings such at pickled red onions, jalapeños, cabbage and a few other items are available. Containers for eating in and takeout of toppings are available. Tacos had a decent amount of meat in them. Meat soaked up consome well. All the goodies from the salsa bar paired well with the tacos. This was our first time eating here. Came accross this ad on Facebook. We're always looking for good, authentic Mexican food. I ordered the birria tacos. I'm happy to report, they were delicious! Tasty, flavorful, shell fried to perfection, well, at least for me,with melted cheese. Had the meal, with rice & beans. The rice was the best I've had at any restaurant in a long time, and I can't forget the bean! We also ordered street tacos, this we're good as well. I can't give it zero stars because YELP won't let me. I don't know who owns it or who the manager is, but I'd predict this place won't last another 6 months. Not only was the service horrible, the food was too! Three, just beyond teenage years (I hesitate to call them waitresses because that would be an insult to real waitresses) were more intent on listening to a TV playing some music than serving us. I ordered a "Steak Burrito" for myself and my wife.....that came with Tortilla Chips! Seriously? Yep, Tortilla Chips! No rice - no beans - no guacamole....Tortilla Chips! Now for the Burrito. Everything was in it, tomato, lettuce, sour cream, pico and....steak? I guess it might have been some kind of steak, but boy was it tough and full of gristle. Almost inedible. And to top it off, that Burrito cost $12.99! Needless to say, we certainly won't be back there. read more

Bad experience- unprofessional for them to gossiping and not attending to customer agree waiting for over 6mins sitting down. Us and one other family was there waiting for them to finish their conversation. Original spot on 83th ave and camelback is 100 times better- the service , the food, the vibe ! The service is good but the food I ordered made me sick. I ordered burrito asada and my husband ordered chicken quesadilla. The chicken quesadilla was salty. My husband was not able to finish it. The burrito was good but it made me sick as soon as I left the restaurant I felt nauseous and stomach ache. Threw up and diarrhea as soon as I get home. I got the chorizo burrito, french toast, and pancakes. I want to start off by staying the burrito was BOMB AF. The chorizo was made perfectly and the burrito was stuffed. I ordered the sopes combo. Price online is less than the actual menu price. The shell was so hard, a knife or teeth could not break into the shell. I informed the waitress. Told her I've never had the shells so hard before and thought maybe they were stale or overcooked. It resulted I left my food with only 2 bites out of it. She didn't offer to remake something else or remove the item from the tab. I would have preferred to try something else. This place, a friend and I wanted to try as it had 4 stars. Oscar's Taco Shop. Located in the Kohl's shopping center on 59th Ave & Bell. Had delicious bacon, egg, potato and cheese breakfast burritos. You order up and they bring your food to you. Service was super friendly and the food served quick. All 3 salsas we tried were tasty. Price was very reasonable. We will go back for sure and try some other food choices.
