This place is the most legit Mexican food I've had since moving to Baltimore. The staff is super friendly and the food is fantastic. Some people might consider the tiny dining room to be a problem, but to me it just felt like the little places I used to frequent in Philly. It's got a very homey quality to it. Excellent "original" cuisine ... but crazy-impossible parking. When you pull into the place, try not to get rear-ended by some jerk tryin to pass you on Phila Road. The place is more like a "grab it and go" luncheonette than a place you can "chill" and swill a beer or two. I took my daughter and friend here for dinner. I loooove good authentic Mexican food and have had a hard time finding a good place. This place is a tiny location but a diamond in the rough!!!! The guacamole wasn't great, but everything else was Amazing!!!!!!!! The meat was so flavorful nothing was over seasoned. My daughter had tacos, I had their famous sandwich (best thing I've eaten everrrrr), and my friend had steak tacos. I wish I could've washed it down w a margarita, but no alcohol here. The food had amazing flavors and everything was so delicious. I grew up in California and very picky with authentic food and I was soooo glad I tried this place and will definitely be a new spot! This place is legit. As you have likely noted from the other over 200 reviews. It is the the quintessential hole in the wall Mexican restaurant that is everything you have been looking for! The food is excellent and the staff very friendly. The owner personally (and patiently) helped me and my friends decide what to order. The beef quesadillas, spicy chicken toastados, and shredded beef sopes were delicious. We were all well pleased, and I will definitely be back for the shredded beef sopes - you should definitely try these! also they are very accommodating with ordering if you wish to mix items to create your own mini sampler . DELICIOUS authentic Mexican food. We found this place on yelp while traveling through town. Even my kids loved the food. There wasn't a kids menu but if your kids like tacos you're good. We were the only non-Mexican folks here if that says anything. The owner spoke to us after the meal and was very personable. This place was great. Ummm-- not a hole in the wall but def a store front that knows what they are doing!! I can't believe this spot was down the street from my son's school (Eastern). I could have been going there to grab a taco while he had robotics club instead of waiting or driving around aimlessly. We found this place on a Saturday in hunt of some good ole tacos on hubby's bday. He said this was the best place and made his day! Food was Delish-she-o-so!!! My goodness it was reasonable too. A lovely vacation to Mexico has peaked my taste buds for authentic food. I have set the bar high because we found a restaurant who has the best food, drinks and service in Maroma Beach. The kitchen and dining area are small and clean. There is limited seating. The cashier/order taker was nice and took our order promptly. She was bilingual (English & Spanish). I ordered the chicken tacos and hubby ordered the chicken & cheese quesadillas. I somewhat enjoyed my food, hubby not so much. The quesadillas were different than he expected...looked like a patty. I have been a customer / fan of this authentic Mexican Restaurant since it moved into my Rosedale neighborhood. I tend to try something different every time my stomach craves REAL home made Mexican food. Yesterday, I was in a lunch time hurry and undecisive as to what to try. The owner suggested I try the thin cut beef sauteed in onions and jalapeno peppers, served with refried black beans and rice, home made tortillas and a garden style salad with fresh slices of avocado and casa fresca. I HIGHLY recommend this dish. The flavors were incredible. I do not know the name of this dish and as a matter of fact, I do not believe its on the menu. 4.5 star food with 10 star service. No lie. I'm from Los Angeles, the home of all things beautiful and good about Mexican cuisine. As a result, my standards are a bit higher than most. So when I saw this 4.5 rating for Fiesta Mexicana, I was incredibly eager to get in here and try it for myself. When that chance finally came a few days ago, NOTHING about this place disappointed. It was hyper cold when we came through, and I was in one of those homesick moods where I missed everything about LA. Walking up to the Fiesta, you dont expect much: a converted house to restaurant situation with limited parking had me a bit thrown. But as soon as I hit the door, the SMELL of the freshly cooked food alone knocked me off my feet. A super warm heater also sat on the counter to greet me with the warmth I needed that day. As I immediately gravitated towards the heater, I was greeted by the wonderful owner and his family immediately. "Hello my friend!" he says. "Go ahead and sit down right there by the heater. It'll keep you warm and we will bring you menus in a second. After drooling over the infinite choices, we decided to go ahead and get their Paquete; a platter that basically serves you one to two of everything, so you get an idea of what their food taste like. After chatting us up a bit and asking if it was our first time there, he graciously took our order and got to work. We picked up a coconut water from the fridge and instantly went to yelping the glory of this place. Our order arrived on a huge plate of yumminess; one to two of everything good about Fiesta spread on a platter of victory. Green sauce, fresh onions and cilantro and crema fresca everywhere on everything. Everything warm and toasty (except for the taco, but Im not being pick about that) and delicious. The style of preparation and serving was a bit different from "traditional" Mexican places I've been to before (the enchaladas are not rolled, but folded in half like a quesadilla, and the quesadilla are fried to perfection, not pan cooked), but everything tasted like the food gods themselves had blessed the food and people cooking it. At first it all looked a bit overwhelming, but THEHUNGER™ took over, and 2 people easily took down all of the yumminess before us (other than 1 flauta and 1 taco we took home).During our meal, the owner came out personally to check in on us and make sure everything was okay. "PERFECT!" we mumbled, as we chomped on our various choices. After reading about the legendary tres leches cake (one of my faves EVER), I had to order it, despite the fact of being full. One bite in and I was instantly addicted: this is, hands down, one of the top 3 tres leches cake I have had in my entire life. And I've had a lot. After decimating our delicious lunch, he came by and chatted us up once again, making sure we were completely happy with our meal (which we absolutely were). We also had a long convo about us both spending time in LA, his plans to move to a bigger spot soon, my new obsession with their cake, his being hot on yelp and the internets, and him helping me with my functional, but rusty Spanish. Just a genuinely good hearted man and his family making traditional, delicious Mexican food for everyone to enjoy. For the first time, felt like home. CanNOT wait to get back and try even more. This place was/is an unexpected awesome find! Now, one might say then why not 5 stars?? I am half Mexican (well Mex and Basque and some Thai but raised mainly in a Mexican background with Mexican cooking) so my standards are high plus I grew up in California (not Cali). That being sad, I can find Tapatio at every corner plus Mexican Chorizo for .99 and not $5 like I find in most Hispanic grocery stores around here. I just happened to Yelp what places were nearby a dealership I stopped at and I came across this place! Found rave reviews from a few very reliable Yelpers so I took myself and my little Bella on the search for GREAT Mexican in a 3 state radius (yes, it's that serious!) This little restaurant attached to a house does have limited & awkward parking but who cares when it comes to good food! I found parking easily on a Tuesday late afternoon between lunch and dinner service so that was 1 star. I was greeted by the owner who explained his background being from Mexico City and he kept me company with talks of his menu and some sweet banter with my little one... another star right there. I ordered a few different things to try just for myself knowing full well I would be taking the rest in a to-go container. I ordered the "Pambazo" sandwich which is dubbed something that can't be found anywhere in the Country. I think this may be true although I think I might have come close to making something close to this when I was Mcgyver-ing it once one late night. It's a hard but soft and chewy roll... brushed with guajillo sauce (typically a dried chile and I use it to make enchilada sauce) on the outside then they put a nice crust on the outside which is a very nice touch, I might add, The inside is stuffed with papas (potatoes) and chorizo/crema (Mexican sour cream)/lettuce/queso fresco and then of course I load it with both the red and green salsa that was available to me. The salsas were both EXCELLENT but that red one... I need to decipher with more research..just saying. I also ordered the sope with beans and the shredded beef plus the usual fixins of lettuce/queso fresco and crema. The owner made it clear that I could build my own. I had seen roasted poblanos and mushrooms as options for the main topping which I had never seen on any Mexican menu or home. The sope shredded beef was flavorful and moist but the sope itself was dry and flaking off in chunks when I would cute bites off.. my least fav out of what I ordered but still good enough to eat... if that makes sense. I also ordered their spicy chicken taco which was AMAZE BALLS! It had nicely soften onions in it.. all marinated together with a chicken in a spicy red sauce. Nothing too spicy for me but others might find it warm in the throat a bit. Lastly, I ordered a kids, quesadilla with chicken/cheese as the owner pointed out to what a child was eating in the next booth. My little one is a picky one and she wouldn't even touch it... that's just her. UGH.. I however tried it myself and dipped it in the sour cream because the chicken was very dry and the cheese was minimal. My Pambazo was ohh so comforting because chorizo plus anything is a staple back home, the taco was MONEY... and the kids quesadilla was FREE hence my 4th star. I will definitely be back to try their whole menu... not all at once but for my now go-to fav Mexican restaurant in a 3 state radius. EVERYONE in driving distance... come here! read more

Oh my word. Can I give this six stars, or seven, or eight? Is it possible? Ten stars! This is the best Mexican food (quite possibly the best FOOD) I've had anywhere, ever, and I've been to San Diego but not to Mexico. Dang. This food is good. The place is small, and what it lacks in ambiance, it makes up for with hospitality. The owner greets you right away, explains the menu, tells you he's from Mexico City and that this food is representative of street food there. The menu is also small, with about 8 different choices of types of food, but within those types, you get to choose your fillings, and that is pretty wide. They had chicken, beef, pork, then good Mexican cheese, poblano strips, mushrooms, and potatoes. Some things could be mixed and matched, and because the owner was the one taking your order and making your food (with the help of two assistants), I'm sure anything could be made to order. There is a case with familiar and also Mexican sodas in the back, though the owner invites you to bring your beers and tequila if you want to. There's three booth tables and then it looked like a few more tables in the back. I had quesadillas which were not like any quesadillas I had before. They were like little fried corn masa pockets filled with delicious things. The salsas were amazing with complex flavors. My dining partner enjoyed chicken enchiladas, which came with salsa verde. It looked really good as well. I know I've written more here than usual, so what are you waiting for? Go, go, go to Fiesta Mexicana right now. Still delicious stuff here! I brought my husband, my daughter, and Carrie's Momma here for a Mexican throwdown that was, quite simply, the stuff made of memories. I had the enchilada dish with the mole (available this time - what luck!), and I can only say that if you can get there while they have the mole, do it. It's rich, chocolate-y spice that will make you weep with joy if you get a hold of it. Momma had the same dish with verde salsa, and she loved it - lots of cilantro and good flavorings. Hubs had the bean version of enchiladas (can't remember the exact name at the moment) and it was just as delicious as the other two dishes! My daughter had nothing. She's 6 months old and can't handle all this mouth-watering goodness just yet. The staff are incredibly sweet. They worked with us to make sure that we were comfortable, even though we had a mobility-challenged party and a 6-month old in a car seat. If you've ever been here, you KNOW how small this place really is, so it was quite a challenge. They rose up to that challenge and met it easily, AND with a smile. Much appreciated! Note to parents: no changing table here, unfortunately, though there's plenty of room in the restroom if you need to take care of baby's business. This place is incredibly small in general, so I could see why it's not available. If you plan ahead, it shouldn't be an issue. It definitely shouldn't stop you from coming here! For the price of half a glass of lukewarm tap water and a dirty look at the Woodberry Kitchen you can eat like a tyrannical king at Fiesta Mexicana. Fill your face with delights! Trotas! Pambazos! Proper Tacos! Freshly prepared salsas, guacamole! All defy description. Flan! Tres Leches Cake! You cannot imagine how good this food is, so don't bother. Also, if you're looking for tex-mex you need to first recognize that your desires are terrible. Second, you need to eat at Fiesta Mexicana. Abandon the world of sloppy tortillas filled with savory, homogeneous baby food and experience real food. The owner is a fantastic guy. The restaurant is adorable (also BYOB). I almost don't want to review this place because it's so perfect right now as this obscure AMAZING hole in the wall in Rosedale (of all places). BUT. OMG. This may be the best food in Baltimore, no joke. I should start by saying I've never been a Mexican food fan. I loathe the heavy tomato paste and cheese enchilada style food that seems to be everywhere (looking at you el salto!) and I've never liked tacos or quesadillas. until now. holy h3LL balls this food is amazing. everything is handmade, even the dough for the quesadillas which are nothing like anything i've ever had before. they're thick and crispy and filled with whatever you like. Personally i like the rajas y queso (poblano strips and oxacan cheese) and the chorizo con papa (chorizo and potoato). so it's like this cripsy piece of heaven oozing with perfect fillings and topped with just a hint of crema fresca (like a sour cream), cilantro, onion and lettuce so it's a nice refreshing balance to the heaviness. My husband could eat the enchiladas every day. Another thing i never EVER liked before this place. they aren't heavy at all, just fresh, and tasty and drenched in an impossibly tasty salsa verde. mmm. Also the sandwiches are to-die-for. They're sort of getting famous for their pambazo, which is this flash fried roll, brushed in a spicy pepper sauce (not too spicey) and stuffed with chorizo, potato, avocado, lettuce tomato and cheese. But i have never tasted a sandwich as good as their torta. I get the chorizo and egg with poblano strips (he adds them for me which makes me feel special every time) and it has beans, avocado, tomato, cheese, and i guess crack because you can.not.stop.eating them. one bite--you're hooked. Really it's a simple premise: great fillings and a variety of corn based items you can have those fillings on or in. he'll customize anything and once you meet him you'll know why the food is so good. he loves what he does and he takes PRIDE in his work. It's something that I've been missing since I've been in Baltimore. and it's super refreshing. all this AND cheap. Go there. Right now. But be prepared to wait longer than you think you should have to. It's a small, small place, and he hand makes everything. Great Food. GREAT service. Our first time was awsome. Just ordered tacos and the fried quesadillas. Really good. You got to make it your own and the owner let me put as many toppings I wanted. The only down side is how small the restaurant is and the small parking lot. It's a very popular Mexican restaurant so it gets crowded with 10 people already inside. Tables are so close to the counter and walls. We ordered to go. Also, tried the infamous tres leche cake and honestly I've definitely don't think it's all the hype. OK...let me start this by saying I have never been a really big Mexican food fan until I met my fiancée. In the last 8 months I have been to numerous Mexican restaurants including El Rodeo, and about 6 others. So I wouldn't call myself a connoisseur of Mexican, but I am a connoisseur of good food. Even walking in and first impressions are not that great...but at the point that is where any "negative" impressions end..... We were greeted by the owner who was very warm and friendly. Asked us if this was our first time there and how we heard about the restaurant. Chatted with us for a bit. We asked for some chips and salsa, which he made the salsa from scratch. This was not your typical chunky salsa but like a dip almost. He asked if we liked spicy etc. I don't like a lot of spice so he made 2 different kinds. Can I say simply amazing!!!! And that was just the salsa! Looking over the menu everything looked fantastic...Sopes, tostados, quesidellas, pombazo, everything. Made the way you wanted it with your choice of fillings....chicken, beef, pork, vegetable...anything. I ordered the Sopes, and my finance ordered a sampler. This is AUTHENTIC Mexican food. Not american mexican or the way americans like it....this is Authentic. And I can say the most fantastic meal I have had in a long long time. Every single thing was made fresh to order...the herbs, the cheeses was all fresh. The roasted chicken in the meals was fantastic. As perfect as you could get....Flavor, presentation...just everything. We got the Tres Leche cake for desert and it did not disappoint at all...as amazing as the rest of the meal. So we got 4 drinks (2 of them imported Mexican soda's), an appetizer of chips and salsa, 2 full meals, and dessert....our bill was $30.00, and I am not kidding. A group of us dined there this past weekend thanks to the great reviews posted here. Some cite Fiesta Mexicana as a hole in the wall, but we all disagree. It isn't trendy nor a white table cloth restaurant, but it seemed clean and felt comfortable. We were met at the door by the owner who took care of all of our needs. We brought a bottle of wine (no corking fee!) and sat outside at the lone picnic table w/umbrella. We started with the guacamole and everyone agreed that it is delicious. The guys shared a sampler platter of tostadas, enchiladas, sope, and some other things (enormous amounts of food); we ladies had enchiladas - - one plate of mole, the other a specially prepared platter of 4 vegetarian-filled tortillas smothered in salsa verde. Holy cow, my mouth is still watering! We all agree, the food is fantastic! Almost better than the taste is the price; the entire meal for 4 came to under $50! We've been actively looking for great Mexican food and feel we've found THE PLACE. We're already planning our next visit (it was difficult not going the very next day, it is THAT good)! So disappointed! My husband and I used to LOVE this place and dined here regularly. The past visit after the Baltimore Sun review was published, will probably be our last... The restaurant is in a tiny house with limited parking, which is usually never a problem, even on a busy night. While we were able to secure a parking spot, this was the busiest that we have ever seen Fiesta. We grabbed a table and grabbed our own menus. Then we sat and waited and waited and waited. We were not greeted by anyone, nor did anyone ask us if we were ready to order. We waited for almost 20 minutes before a non-English speaking woman came up to attempt to take our order. My husband ordered chicken enchiladas with the verde sauce and I tried to order chicken enchiladas with mole sauce, and was promptly told they were out of mole sauce. I ordered three tacos; a spicy chicken, a steak, and a pork taco. We also ordered a plate of rice and beans. Then we sat and waited and waited some more for our food. Several people came in and ordered take-out orders at the counter that were served before our food came out. While waiting, the table behind us received their food, enchiladas with mole sauce (the main thing that I was hoping to eat) and beans and rice. The woman that took our order came out to our table to inform us that they were our of rice for the night too. We told her that it was fine and still wanted beans. Once the food finally arrived, the beans looked like they had been cooked with a microwave, having full edges all the way around the plate dried out and crusted. The tacos were bland and unseasoned. The pork was hard, overcooked and tasteless. The steak was unmemorable and the chicken was some of the worst that I have ever had. It was all dark meat and mostly fat. I couldn't eat half of the meat because of that. While my husband had no major initial complaints of the enchiladas, he was sick all night. When you think of Authentic Mexican what do you think of? I think of this place. I've become a regular. I've had everything on the menu more than once and love all of it. My go to is usually the Fiesta Nachos with chorizo or guacamole for a starter, and either tacos with chorizo or the enfrijoladas with chicken. The flavors are the best everything is fresh made on the spot and the owner is completely passionate and a caring business owner that cares about his customers and his community, which is a dying virtue it seems these days. And you don't get fatty cheddar or cheese whiz--All cheese is usually the authentic "quesa fresco". Prices are not super cheap; but your getting real food... Agree totally with most people here. owner is great, total character. Food is straight up authentic...READ: NOT CHIPOTLE or OTHER CHAIN. CHIPS AND SALSA AREN'T THE TYPE OF MEXICAN HERE! The wait is longer than most places, but its made by hand right in front of you to order. I am a vegetarian and he didnt shy away from filling my stomach.. Great place! My lady and I went to Fiesta Mexicana and all the yelp reviews were right on. I feel all though I have never been to Mexico we had real authentic Mexican food. We tried 5 different dishes and each were great and much different than any other mex. dishes we had ever had in a very good way. Cooked in front of you and all from scratch.
