My spouse enjoyed her salmon. I did not enjoy my meal of pierogi and kielbasa, but that was my fault. Everything was prepared and presented well. I would recommend Fig and Barrel to anyone in York or passing through! Nathan and Lisa are incredibly kind and accommodating! We were looking for somewhere to gather with our wedding guests the night before the big day and Nathan and Lisa didn't hesitate to extend us a warm welcome. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience, sectioning off an area for us and even gathering extra staff to make sure we didn't have to wait long for food and drink. My husband and I live in the DC area so we are used to lots of red tape to make large gatherings happen. You will find nothing but an open door and gracious smile at Fig and Barrel. We didn't try the food because we met up with guests after our rehearsal dinner but they had great drinks, super fun shooters, and one of the only late night menus we found available in York! Fig & Barrel's food has gone down hill!! They used to be our favorite go to for brunch but after 2 visits in the past month we are done. All of our food was overcooked, one might say burnt. What a shame!!! Plus, this past visit it took 45 minutes to get our food and there were only 4 tables in the restaurant. read more

So we went here about three years ago and had a disaster of a meal. We thought let's give it a second chance. Big mistake! We ordered drinks while we looked over the menu. Waiter comes over and said to me that the beer I ordered just kicked. Hey it happens. So I just ordered the same beer as my wife and put in an order for two different apps. Waiter comes back with one glass and says that the tap on this beer kicked as well and we could just share this glass. My wife then said she would just take a moscato. After she ordered our third drink, one of our apps came out. We were going to order main course but no waiter to take our order. Fifteen minutes later my wife still did not have her drink and our other app was not delivered. Finally the waiter brings her drink. At that point we told him to not worry about the app and to just bring the bill. Thirty minutes into a night and three different orders for a drink, one of two apps and no waiter to order our main course. Always makes me wonder how places like this stay in business. Ate here last night for the second time this year. I will say the ambience is good, and is a nice, clean place. Great whiskey selection and our cocktails were excellent. They have a good beer selection too. This trip my companions each got a pizza and said they were good. I tried the crab Devonshire which was a mistake. Toast was overdone so very tough to cut through, the crab was salty and the cheese goo on top was very salty. I was able to get through half of it only because I was starving. Last time there I got a grilled cheese with apple slices which was ok only the apple was cold and thicker than necessary so it was a decent grilled cheese with cold, raw apple slices in the middle. Overall, after 2 times eating there, I'lol probably not go back. Drinks, service and overall vibe is ok but the food, while sounding interesting, is barely meh. They could do so much more with a few tweaks. read more

I don't normally give bad reviews but in this case I feel it's warranted. A group of 5-7 of us went to Fig Friday night and the the waiter/Bar Back was joking and commenting about how my buddy was dressed with the main bartender. I don't believe they knew I could hear them, but that's besides the point. I brought this to the attention of the bartender and they immediately looked shocked that I was aware what was going on. This is not the first time that we had a bad experience at that bar with the same blond bartender. He is incredibly rude and and I'm very surprised that he is employed, let alone employed in the service industry. Also, in the past, my wife and I have not had great experiences with Fig. 2 of our friends got really sick after we ate there for her birthday and that's a shame because it looks like a nice place from the outside. Bottom line is that I believe it is poorly run and the owners/Managment need to take a hard look at what's going on and get there workers under control. There are plenty of other great bars in york that you don't have to worry about the staff making fun of you. I will not be returning to this place and will also be letting people know what type of establishment this is. read more

Had my third and last meal here last night. As in my 2 previous meals, my main dish (pork loin) was extremely salty. Not only the meat itself, but the mustard sauce added a whole new dimension of salty! I must say the pork was a generous portion, and very tender, which was lost in the yuck of salt. The crispy potatoes would have been great, but more salt there! The appetizer, tots w bacon and cheese were unusually salty as well. I probably had 6 glasses of water in addition to my cocktail! I read the reviews, but thought since we had a wonderful experience in the spring, that we would give it a go. The night Started off Right, but. . . . We made a reservation for 12. The host was very kind and seated us right away. The waiter, was very thorough, but not really friendly. Did a great job, but more efficient and less chatty. Could be our large table of 12 was a lot. Our cocktails were tasty and well made. That was the good stuff. The food was bad. We tried so many dishes and the only thing that was decent were the Tots. All the food lacked flavor. We tried the pizzas and family tried the steaks and other tried the pasta - so we had a lot to choose from and nothing landed well. I don't know if the staff goes to other places and eats food with layered food profiles, but the food we had seemed one-dimensional. We love supporting the downtown York food scene and hope things get better here. But, at this point, we won't be going back any time soon. read more

We had the peroigies and quattro formaggi pizza. The peroigie dough was flavorful and chewy and the sauce and bacon were very good. The pizza crust was AMAZING! And, I loved that the four cheeses included ricotta and goat - very flavorful. We live just outside of DC where there are a lot of mediocre restaurants. Coming to a small town and having such good food, that was obviously prepared with great care, was a very pleasant surprise. read more

Awesome! We visited after a camp at York College. The food was superb. I mean everything was amazing! Additionally, the drink menu was super, but since they have an extensive whiskey/bourbon/scotch menu, instead of a drink, I did tastings. I am very sad to say that this place was not worth the hype for my family. We ordered takeout and the actual wait time nearly doubled the estimate we were given. Unfortunately, I can't say the food was worth the wait; it ended up being almost cold when we got it and was generally unimpressive. This may have just been the result of a busy night but it's hard to say that the quality and service received was worth the price and time waited. I love supporting local restaurants but there are definitely a number of things that management needs to address (namely accountability with wait times and quality of food being sent out during busy periods). read more

One of the best meals we've had in York! My husband and I stopped for the first time tonight for dinner, and we both left saying that we can't wait to go back! We had some delicious buffalo wings that were cooked perfectly, a margarita pizza, and a delicious bread pudding with berries for dessert! The pizza was absolutely delicious, and one of the best pizzas we've had in the whole area. The sauce was flavorful and delicious, and the crust was crispy and soft at the same time, in the best way. We were there for the first time on first friday right at 4. got our drinks at the bar after sitting there for 5 minutes (only ones there)...got a refill, but my husband sat there for over a hour and the bartender kept ignoring him, walked by him many times...then a girl came on to help him and she ignored him, so he got up and walked down to holy hound so he could get waited on. The bartenders only focused on waiting on the people that were not sitting at the bar....helping the wait staff . I know good help is hard to find but this was ridiculous, first time and last there. The bartender needs to move a little faster or he needs another helper because their were two than and they still didnt focus on the bar. read more

I've visited here multiple times since they've opened. Love the concept, the decor is comfortable, cozy and overall enjoyable. However, that's where the positives end. Every time I've visited- there is never anyone greeting or staff present, period. The one or times they were present, they don't bother to acknowledge. More than once, the owners have been standing there and don't bother to say hello, welcome, bye or thank you. Menu- meh. Nothing exciting. A modge podge of all the things. Also, menus, crumpled, dirty, pretty gross. Pizza- fine. Nothing great. Other food disappointing. Burnt grilled cheese, soggy, mushy Brussels sprouts. Out of several items each time we went. Also, out of fig, every time. FIG and barrel? Hm. Service is the worst. Didn't bother to bring a straw, soup spoon- for soup, refills, cream for coffee or even ask how everything was. I was excited for the possibility of something new and refreshing to downtown York, but my expectations were let down. I gave the restaurant 3 stars only because the atmosphere was lovely, and the fact that they are new, possibly still adjusting their service flow. The bartenders completely ignored us, in our attempts to get a pre-meal drink. Service was slow and unorganized. Half of our party of 8 received their food 15 minutes prior to the remaining half. The majority of our meal our drinks sat empty. The food was extremely salty, so much the tots were inedible. I'm hoping to give them one more try after they are open for awhile longer. read more

I'm so disappointed in our experience tonight. My husband and I have had many wonderful dinners at Fig and Barrel in the past so we recommended it to our friends for dinner before our show at the Appell Center at 7:30pm. I spoke with the restaurant and they recommended a 5:30pm reservation so I booked it a month in advance for our group of 6 people. We arrived at 5:30 and told our server that we had time constraints and ordered drinks and apps and dinner. We did not get our apps until 6:45pm. We still had no dinner at 7pm. We had to ask for our checks to get to the show on time. When we asked for our checks a restaurant manager said to us "A man just cancelled your dinners but they are ready now." Without bringing food to our table or offering any apology or explanation for the long wait. We got to the show with 7 minutes to show time and no dinner. Super disappointed and will not recommend again. read more

Got short rib and it comes over potatoes with nothing else which was fine and the short rib was good but there was so little short rib and like a pound of potatoes. For $23 i wouldn't do that again.
