I watched a sales associate excitedly greet two women who were also shopping for bras. I waited for her to come out of the fitting room to help me. She did not help me or even acknowledge me. Nor did the other two sales associates who were there. Two other women came into the store after me and were also greeted in a friendly manner. I don't want to think that I was ignored because I was the only person of color in the store, but I can't figure out any other reason why I wasn't shown the same courtesy. This one is well organized, clean, brightly lighted, smells good, has nice and helpful employees. I'm from Manhattan, NYC. I shopped at the 34th street Macy's with my mother when I was a kid in the 1950's - 1960's. Of course nothing about any Macy's will be as good as my childhood memories of cruising the racks with my mom holding my little hand. The real draw for Macy's is to shop when there are deep discount sales. There seems to be one every season. I have literally purchased clothes at 80% discount at Macy's. I was in this store today. My wife needs swim suits for our vacation in 2 weeks. Late August there is a blow out sale on all women's swim wear. She bought 6 swim suits and a couple of cover ups. The bag full of loot cost less than $100. She paid less than $29 for suits that were originally priced at $120. So yeah, there is no cutting edge super modern fashion here. Even as an old guy I tell my wife that too much of the clothes look like grandma crap. But decent clothes at decent sale prices are here in big number. You just have to browse and pick judiciously.
