We went on Saturday afternoon around 3 pm, so it was not busy. The food and service were excellent. We would not hesitate to go back to Fightingtown Tavern again if we were in Blue Ridge. I say this because the current Yelp rating almost made me veto this place, given all the 4 and 4+ star options nearby. This is not a typical restaurant. Rather than taking a "the customer is always right" approach, which is a ridiculous business philosophy, the owners of the Tavern have certain preferences as to how they do business. We liked that strollers were not allowed inside (after battling strollers in every store on the main street), that the owners make clear that this is a bar and so there are certain constraints on having kids there (the language used in the music played, for example), that the owners treat everyone the same, etc. For example, one of the reviews here complains about not being seated, even though they could see tables available. Unless you know how the restaurant business works, don't make complaints like this. There are several considerations as to where to seat customers, and most customers are not aware of those constraints. Most restaurants try to balance the workload across servers, they try to maximize their seat capacity when busy, they may have a new server just our of training that they want to not be swamped, etc. They might have received a call that someone with limited mobility wished to eat there, and they were saving a particular table to meet the special needs of a customer. They might think that several tables look like they are about to leave, and so want to seat you there, only to realize eventually that those patrons were not leaving as quickly as they thought. I think this place has 3.5 stars not because the food isn't good, the service isn't good, the beer isn't good, the ambiance isn't good, etc. The problem is people who think that restaurants should cater to their every whim, who think that employees should never make a mistake or mis-explain a policy, and, for example, that when they want to move tables and are told they cannot, they give the place a 1 star rating. That's nonsense. Think about how many times you eat out, and how often you ask to move tables. It's pretty rare. So rating a place based on the experience of not being able to move is UNHELPFUL to most people. Star ratings are meant to give others a fair idea of the quality of a place; they are not meant to be used as a scorched earth option when it's a bit too cold in the restaurant. read more

Stopped by here on a Monday afternoon for lunch. WHOA! So many fried foods to choose from lol well it is the south. I ordered the psycho burger and it's basically a burger that's created daily from the chef. I don't know what he was on that day, but that burger was on point. It had maple bacon and some kind of cream cheeses and strawberry toppings. Talk about delicious. My most favorite thing was the dog friendly atmosphere and I'll definitely be back with my pup. Great location, wide variety of menu options. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Has a rock and roll vibe so the music is familiar and enjoyable at least to my generation. Some of the best people watching in BR can be done from the outdoor deck, where dogs are allowed. read more

Sad. Been coming here for years. It was a choice tonight because of usually reliable easy food. The last few years the service has declined. Tonight was a deal breaker. Won't be back. Service horrible. Had to ask numerous times for drink refills- even water. Bar order never delivered and had to ask numerous times (not a busy night). Food. The only thing that came out correct was the wings. One burger not as ordered. That one had a side salad. Easy? No. Came out wrong and just excuses as to why. Went for lunch today. My wife and I split the shrimp. Large shrimp, well seasoned and grilled. Very good. We also shared the pear and arugula salad. It was good but we expected poached pears and theirs was a fresh pear grilled. The margaritas were perfect and we are picky about our margaritas. Burger was okay, bun was soft and tasteless, not grilled or buttered. Like normal bread I guess. Fries were not hot, not crispy, but if you like yours room temp and gooey, they're for you. Worst thing was the restrooms. I guess they're going for woke points and there are no same sex options. As a result, both smelled really rank. I tried one, backed right out, tried the other, same putrid smell. So between all that, and the tourist prices, this local will not return. Setting is really cool. Nice atmosphere and good drink selection. Staff is really nice and personable! I was not drinking but everyone seemed happy with their drinks. The food was not good. They make their own sauces and they taste... eclectic. The ketchup was more like vinegar and tomatoes that ketchup. The mayo was weird but edible. Mustard is mustard. I wasn't a fan of the ranch either. I only wish there would've been a warning going in that the sauce was homemade and I would've been less caught off guard. My sisters and our husbands spent last weekend in blue ridge and absolutely loved this place. While waiting for a table we ordered a drink and walked through the gift shop! We were cracking up! Very creative stuff in there! The food was spectacular. Props to our amazing waitress Michele! She was one of the best servers I've ever encountered! It was busy, but she never kept us waiting. Ok, can I just say how amazing this place is!!! The food is omg full of flavor and the staff was so attentive. I had the jack daniel burger and my husband had the hot wings. Horrible food and sub par service. The Mac and cheese was disgusting, their attempt to make Mexican street corn was very disappointing! The jack daniels burger was just ok... which is sad because the server said it was the best burger in the menu and they are known for their burgers. Everyone had my hopes up for this place. A group of 4 of us went in at 3 today. We were seated immediately and asked what we wanted to drink. We got our drinks quickly. Our waiter asked if we were ready to order, and we asked for a few more minutes. 15 mins later he came back. After we ordered, we didn't see him again until 40 mins later when our food came back out. Our food was lukewarm, and missing extra items we ordered. We finally got our meals correct, and didn't see our waiter for another 30 mins. Very slow waiter, never seemed to care about his tables. We were able to sit outside, but were shaded from the black hole sun, so it was nice. My husband and I split the Reuben, which was made with a beef brisket. It was super tasty. You oughta know that all of their sauces are made in-house. The ketchup was a personal favorite. It tasted sweeter than most ketchup. It had either brown sugar or ginger in it, I think. read more

We've been coming to Fighting town Tavern since 2014. Back then, owner was present, service was excellent and food was delicious. ....was Today we did our usual 3 hour hike as prep for a killer burger and-brew at FT. After a 45 min wait ( usually worth it) We had our usual burgers : Georgia pride and Black and blue. The B and B was extremely salty . and what happened to the awesome homemade ketsup????? owner was not visible- we know him. What happened FT ??? Plenty of competition in blue ridge these days.
