WOW Just had most amazing dinner. The Bahn Jovi Dip Sandwich a mix between a Banh Mi and a French Dip was tender shredded Ribeye, with cucumber slaw a hint of spice. So awesome! Oh! Side with I chose bacon Mac -n-Cheese. Yummy was perfect! Hubby got grilled shrimp basket w/street corn also bacon Mac. Not only looked good but cooked Perfectly. My wife and I had some drinks and spilt a Mammonth w/the fries as the base. So glad they improved their fries from the very skinny fries they used to serve to a little bit thicker hand-cut! The Mammonth is a perfect bar food app, it was fresh & tasty and shareable with 4 people. Service was painstakingly slow on this Saturday late evening and they were not too busy. I do have some issue with bathrooms not being maintained by staff as BOTH of their bathrooms had the large commercial toilet paper roll sitting on the backs of the toilets instead being installed into the holder. We are at many restaurants in Blue Ridge, and this was the best one out of all of the ones we tried. The food was great. The fries are unique but really good. I would definitely go back. The only thing I would change was the volume of the music. It was hard to hear anyone at your table, making it difficult to talk to each other. I get that they are trying to create an atmosphere, but just a tiny bit quieter would still keep the vibe and allow you to talk to your family. The best wall signs. Really fun place with nice patio sitting. Not many options for vegetarians but they can replace any burger with a mushroom, so that was my option outside of salad. We should have known better when we walked in at 8pm on Saturday night and there was 2 people here. I ordered a drink from the bar and after 10 minutes of waiting I went to the bar asking for it. The bar tender (extremely nice) let me know that they no longer have that drink. The restaurant it self is clean and decorated musical memorabilia and the music is awesome. Service was great, our server tried really hard and was very sweet. The food....2 of the 4 entrées came out cold and had to be sent back. The Rueben...looked great, it was filled with fat. Service: Extremely slow service. We were seated no later than 1:35pm and our food did not arrive until 2:25pm. Others that arrived 20-30 minutes after us were served before us. Wait times are inaccurate. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait but it was about 15 minutes (I don't believe this is common though). Drinks: The alcoholic beverages were fantastic! I had the John's lemonade and it was extremely tasty and refreshing. Food: the burgers, fish and fries were all pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised! I highly recommend getting the bourbon soaked Mercer apple slice on your burger. However, the side salad was pathetic. We just left it on the table. The peach baked beans were delicious but really unexpectedly spicy. Also, I believe they had pork (I forgot to ask if this was the case). Atmosphere: This business definitely has a niche. It's essentially a bar. I did see families with small children here but I wouldn't be comfortable bringing my baby cousins here. It's extremely loud. Lots of guitars, vinyls, stickers, and tshirts decorate the walls. They also have a small store with decor and tshirts. If you're easily offended, you may not enjoy these. They have a lot of vulgar (but often funny) phrases and mottos. The wait staff also wears these shirts. In terms of COVID, the outdoor patio is sealed in with plastic and the main dining are as pretty packed. NOTE!!! We attempted to eat here no less than 4 times but were told that it was a 2+ hour wait, that they were too busy, that they weren't doing takeout or some other combination of excuses. ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: An automatic 17% tip was added to our ticket for our party of 4. We weren't told about this. Be aware! Overall: I was pretty annoyed at our wait time for our food. Terrible customer service. We had a reservation for 12. They sat us at a large enough table section but only had 10 chairs. While two of us were standing waiting, the manager said the reservation was for 11 and they didn't have any more chairs. That was an obvious lie because they didn't even have 11 chairs for what they said the reservation was for. They blamed the customer for their mistake. The ones in our group that stayed, said the food was bland and not seasoned well. I guess they thought we were tourist and wouldn't be back. What a wonderful find in downtown Blue Ridge! A bar and grille with a hard rock theme, Fightingtown boasts a menu full of wonderful food with several menu items named after rock legends. Each table has a rock and roll trivia card which is a lot of fun when you're waiting on your food. We enjoyed the Mammoth appetizer (loaded nachos) and the Bahn Jovi sandwich, a ban mi-inspired hoagie with short ribs and pickled cukes and carrots. If you're inclined to order a cocktail, they seem to have a heavy hand here, so buckle up!!! Also.... As a gay couple, the sad fact is my girlfriend and I have to be careful about where we hold hands here. Not so at Fightingtown! The bar/restaurant has a list of rules at each table, one of which makes it plain that they value ALL customers. We felt totally comfortable in here. Our server, Autumn, could not have been better. The food is pretty good. I had a club that was one of the best I've ever had. My husband had the hamburger and it was average. The outside deck is great to sit on. The biggest most glaring downfall to fightingtown is the music. So horrific we saw people get up to leave as soon as they were seated. It is head banging screaming hard rock with grunge thrown in.
