So, a couple of us ended up at this small Carry-Out last night. One of us had a (discount) Coupon for this place, that was PAID FOR, like two weeks ago. The young Ghetto lady at the counter (with a serious attitude), told us that they "no longer accept the coupon" (even though the coupon CLEARLY doesn't have any expiration date on it, whatsoever). We pointed out the fact that the coupon doesn't have an expiration date and that it is STILL actually valid (as it was recently purchased). Confused, she called someone on her cell phone. We can only assume that she called the Owner or Manager. The person on the other end of the phone vehemently REFUSED to honor our coupon, even though it was a valid coupon. The person on the phone said that they don't honor that coupon anymore. Well.....if they don't honor it....then WHY DO RETAILERS STILL SELL IT as a "food deal?" If they don't honor it, why does the coupon NOT have any expiration language on it, whatsoever????? Neither did the venue that the coupon was purchased from, had any such exclusions. What are WE missing????? She didn't apologize for the error, she didn't try to work out something to atleast satisfy us and meet us half way, she actually SNAPPED at one of us (with major attitude)......as she was texting on her phone! UGH! As someone who owns a Catering food service company, and one who understands customer service.....the "error" in question was on THEIR part (not ours), and even IF they no longer accept the coupon (which is highly questionable, in it's very nature), then they SHOULD HAVE STILL HONORED IT, in good faith. No attitude, no being on hold, no being told we don't have this or that or we are not taking phone orders. Biggest test - will my food be ready when I get there. It wasn't BUT they were busy and didn't wait that long for my food to be served. And they kept checking up on me. Plus after seeing the platter of the person before me oh I was waiting!! Got my food and they apologized for the wait. (Maybe about 10 minutes). Got my 5% Yelp check in discount and met Tosha and I forget the other guy's name but they were cool and professional. The turkey wings were so bland as if no one seasoned them they were laid on bed of yellow rice. I assumed that the rice would be flavorful because of the color. I know this may sound crazy but in this case, I am glad that I did not read the reviews before ordering from this place. I decided to give the app Black and Mobile a try and chose Fill Your Soul. I was not disappointed. From my experience, most soul food places have only one thing that may be good in the platter or nothing at all and the baked macaroni is never a hit with me. In this case, I loved my whole platter, every single thing I got! It was hot, nice portions and tasted great. The delivery service was quick, especially for a rainy Sunday. I will definitely order again from this restaurant. It will be hard not to get what I got before, but I will try something different because I believe it will be good. They charge $12 for the quartered chicken platter but it comes with ONE small piece of chicken.
