Paris Baguette is my go-to for any birthday or special occasion dessert needs! Their cakes are delicious and they are always ready on time and the custom writing is fantastic! They've yet to disappoint and are always a crowd-pleaser! -- Although it feels a little silly to review a chain, I wanted to give a shout-out to this location. They've consistently provided delicious and beautiful cakes. I ordered a cake on the app for a friend's mom's birthday with silly custom writing. I was scared since the text was at the the maximum character limit and we didn't know how they could get the writing to fit on the cake. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the lady fingers placed on top to help accommodate the length. Additionally, I got a Halloween cake for my workplace and it was a hit! It held up well in transport (with stabs at the cake's bottom) and out of the refrigerator. We were provided a cake cutter, candles, and matches free of charge. Also, many coworkers stated it was the best whipped cream they've had in a dessert! Personally, I don't drink coffee so I can't comment too much, but the other pastries have been tasty as well. The pastries are a little on the more expensive side but I've found their pastries and sandwiches keep me relatively full. I recommend the pastry frank (with ketchup and mustard), crab meat croquette, cream puffs, and apple roll cake. As a tip, you can ask the staff to heat up your pastries, so you can eat it hot while commuting. Also of note is that since the customers grab tongs and a tray for selecting pastries, there's no way to confirm cross contamination from any customers who aren't careful with their tongs. I also do not believe many of their foods are gluten-free or dairy-free. The interior is relatively small (maybe 8 or so tables), so I would arrive early if you need outlets or have a preferred seat type (couch, chair, booth, etc.). They do offer WiFi, so it is convenient for when you're studying/working. The tables are near the door, so it may get a bit hot/cold depending on the weather. Overall, I'd highly recommend Paris Baguette for any dessert needs, if you want to get a cake that's sure to please! read more

Pretty groovy. Penn only has a few independent/smaller chain cafes nearby, so I don't have much of a choice coming here LOL. Unfortunately, I didn't like many of the pastries from here. The croissant and ganache cake tasted pretty good. I was not a fan of the crepe or mocha cakes. The fruit on the berry tart was fresh and the tart was nice and buttery. However, the look of the pastries far exceed the taste. I would definitely get another croissant from here but I can't say that any of the other items make me want to come back. The taste of the cakes reminds me of packaged items that are mass produced versus items that are freshly baked. With a name like Paris you almost expect to get that light, airy & sensational taste of the food in Paris. Glad I ordered a cake from this location, there's plenty of nearby street parking. The entrance is beautiful and open, you can see the entire cafe. Tried the seasonal mango and coconut cake which is light, airy and splendid! Dropping a star as Samiyah is dragging the team down and almost cost me a PPA ticket. She didn't acknowledge me once even after making eye contact twice. I also ordered a coffee to go and was standing around. Although this restaurant bakery is part of a chain I can't say a negative thing about it! I can only offer rave reviews from the service to the food onto the pastries. Because it is a chain each store has the same layout. I did find that the Center City store had more items wrapped individually (2021) however in this store you were able to use tongs and make your choices. Some wrapped some not. The staff here is very helpful and the seating area is highly organized and clean. Considering this is on campus that's work! But they get the job done. The seats are spaced out and there is outdoor seating. My family favorites are the sausage wrapped in a garlic croissant, of course the plain croissants are delicious. Just by chance I purchased a sandwich in a creamy white sauce with vegetables and decorative but tasty cucumbers. No idea what it WAS but it was good! And finally I have the cakes I like today. If you live in the University City area (near UPenn, Drexel), this is a great and convenient place to order your goodies from! You can buy the pastries in-person at the shop or order online! You can also order on the app (which I haven't tried yet). For cakes, I have been placing the order online on the computer and it has been so convenient. You can let them know 24 hours in advance! I was planning a surprise graduation, and having that short of a notice helped me tremendously in ordering the perfect cake. Paris Baguette also has great customer service. I have called them on countless occasions to make sure they received my order to to clarify on logistics for ordering. They have been extremely responsive and friendly. For cakes, they give you candles, a cutting knife, and matches, which is pretty convenient! Cakes are on the pricier side, but if you split the cost with all the party attendees, it's worth it! Chocoholic Chiffon Cake - LOVED this cake, highly recommend for anyone who loves chocolate cake! I ordered this for my friend who loves chocolate cake for his graduation, and everyone at the party was blown away by the taste. Many people at the party asked, "Who chose the cake?" because it was such a great choice! The cake was tasty and flavorful, and the cream was light. PB is the bakery that could probably wring me of all my money, because of how often I frequent here. I've been to the Chinatown location and often visit the University location, when I want a slightly but not obnoxiously overbearing sweet pastry or dessert. Also, a nicely setup study location with outdoor seating. PB is influenced by the craft of Asian/French Pastries and it really shows. I've enjoyed most of the pastries as is or with slight modifications. - Filled croissants are much better cold bc the cream filling sets, or might as well drink out the croissant w/ a straw bc the cream warms and drips. - The ham&brie had too much garlic salt on the outside and tasted good w/ it rubbed off. - Sausage buns/ crab croquets were much better once I warmed them up at home and ate them warm. Eating them cold doesn't sit well with my stomach or taste as good. - The matcha pastries have real matcha, not sugar with a dash of matcha, so tread lightly if you don't like bitter flavors. read more

Nestled within the HamCo apartments in University City, Paris Baguette is one of many establishments that are a part of the revitalization of the HamCo block. When you get here you'll notice that Paris Baguette is right next to a Vietnamese restaurant and under the HamCo gym. There is both out door and indoor seating and at the time, my friend and I opted to sit inside as he wanted to do work. If Paris Baguette were here when I was a student I would find myself here every day -- no lie! Compare to Chinatown's Paris Baguette, this location separates foot-traffic and orders from seating. From a seating perspective, this location has a variety of options that Chinatown does not. Not to mention there's tons of natural light which is an added bonus. As for their pastries, Paris Baguette's system is very standardized across the board and found the same flavor profile as I did at other locations.
