Love that they have a drive through! And patio seating! It's very small inside with Minimal seating, and no public restrooms. I did have very fast service which I love and the workers were nice! It's hard to beat a good drive-thru coffee spot. I love a coffee spot where I can settle in with my laptop, my AirPods, and maybe a snack, but sometimes I just need to get it and go. Filling Station is located in a great spot for a drive-thru, wedged into a parking lot at the confluence of Westport Road and 43rd St. A steady flow of traffic comes their way even though it's a small place, just a couple of tables, but they are welcoming to all and it's super-friendly when you stop inside. The coffee is outstanding, partnering with the local outfit Messenger, and it settles so well with a touch of half & half for me. The menu is focused on the essentials for a great coffeehouse. Rather than give you a zillion options and driving your ADHD, Filling Station is zeroed in on their best stuff. Pair your coffee with a baked goodie or sample a sandwich made fresh in house. While the location off of Johnson Drive is not my favorite, I've really come to love my little Westport joint. The inside is incredibly tiny and they have a little patio, but the drive through is the real king of this location. I love a good iced matcha latte with almond milk with minimal sweetener and they have just what I need! I also love that they support local establishments by selling pre-made burritos and other breakfast items. The baristas are always 10/10 nice in my experience. Closed with no warning. Wasted about 15 minutes driving over here for nothing. They demonstrate pretty poor management skills if they can't keep water running and the store open during business hours. The coffee is pretty good but their biggest size is 16 oz and it's almost 9$. Not worth it. Some of the staff are also very rude. It is not a welcoming experience and for a 9$ coffee you would expect a "hey how are ya" or a "have a nice day". I got a cold latte. There was too much milk and not enough coffee. All I tasted was the half and half. It was super expensive at about $7.50 for the 16 oz. I think the barista just gave me an iced coffee. I didn't not see them making the espresso or the foam. Came out way too fast. I should have just ordered an iced coffee. This Filling Station drive thru is so convenient for when I need a quick coffee fix in the Downtown area. I've never stopped to sit, but I've seen a couple people sitting outside as I zip by. With a few local locations you can always fill up your cup at The Filling Station. Me personally, I prefer the one in close proximity to the used book mecca of Half Priced Books and conveniently located across the street from a whimsical doughnut lounge. I also apprecaite the option of oat milk at any small scale coffee emporium and Filling Station doesn't disappoint. The chai was spicy but still mild due to the creamy steamy warmed oat milk, perfect for a cold winter day. My barista had a friendly smile and whipped up my beverage in mere minutes, just enough time to snap a few instagram photos next to some of the quaint, cute decor. As well as admire the case of glistening flakey pastries almost making us wish we didn't just grab doughnuts. The entire experience here is quick and casual but leaves a mark much like the Midwest itself, a fast casual but friendly city that's worth a stop by and while you're stopping by Westport make sure to check out Filling Station. read more

This is my neighborhood coffee shop. The coffee is a little pricey, but I consider them a treat 2x a month. I typically get 1 pound decaf coffee beans, a shot of espresso or one their daily special drinks. This year my fav has been ginger, mango matcha with almond milk( ended up replicating for a chia pudding) the flavors are on point. My one critique is as a passenger I wish the front was opened. Stopping by the drive by window can be a challenge since there is no shelter on top. read more

If I'm in the mood to sit down in a cafe, I'd go to their location over in Union Hill instead (though that's often so busy, seats are a hot commodity). This location isn't intended for the coffee lounge set, though. I mean, it has a drive-thru. That said, if you do choose to stay, as another review indicates, the windows afford a great view of the crazy traffic clusterfuck that is Westport Road. I'd give them 5 stars, but sorry, I need my large coffee to be at least 20 ounces. That's more of a compliment than anything, though. It's delicious! Make the sizes big again, please. I use to frequent here every day in the late summer . All of the baristas were nice except one. She always had a condescending attitude she was rude and acted like she completely hated her job and customers .I spoke to the manager and he said that he would talk to her about her customer service . I stopped going for a little bit, but then returned and had an encounter with her again which she seemed to have a different type of attitude. I eventually stopped going there and haven't been in a couple months. I received a gift card for Christmas. So I decided to use my gift card ( the same barista was working )She asked me if I wanted to apply a tip from the gift card. I kinda was shocked and didn't say anything so she hurried up and slammed the window. (the coffee is already eight dollars) and I also think asking for a tip is rude. She handed me my coffee after she made it and I told her thank you and she said mhmmm.To top it off she purposely made my coffee horrible. I will NEVER return again. After 21 days of no coffee, I wanted my very first cup of coffee to be the best coffee that I could find in the neighborhood and I am happy to say that the Filling Station came through with the best dang Americano that I've had in a very long time. It had a nice smooth flavor with at hint of the caramel that I had added for the sweet factor without being over sweet. Next time I will ask them to make it a little hotter for me. We also got a couple of their awesome pastries (which I failed to get pics of) a blueberry pop tart and a fat apple croissant. The pop tart reminded me of childhood days and the croissant I left that for the mister :) who said it was a little to sweet for his taste. Really loved this coffee spot. Super quick walk from where we were staying in Westport; they have both a drive-thru (which seemed very popular) and a small inside area that we were able to check out. I ordered a caramel latte, while my husband had a chai latte. We also ordered a ham and white cheddar croissant and a slice of spiced pound cake (sweet and savory, eh?). Everything was really good; I'd definitely say the croissant was the winner, though. Both lattes were smooth and artfully crafted. Best of all, the employees were really kind and had great attitudes, which really goes a long way! A few outdoor tables too to sit and watch the neighborhood. Stopped by here a couple of weeks ago when I was in town with my 2 friends. We had passed by here a couple of times and were intrigued by the look of the building, so we figured we would check it out more closely. Looks like this place used to be a photo developing hut back in the day, and they had kept their film drop off slot on their door. They also have a drive through window, but since this was our first and only time here, we wanted to go in. They offer your standard coffee drinks, and a few food items. I opted for a cold brew, and my friends got other coffee items. We did see that they had a small seating area as well, which was decorated with lots of vintage photography as well as automobile equipment. As for the coffee? A pretty good brew. I liked my cold brew, and I imagine that the other drinks from here would be just as good. Not a bad place to stop by for a decent cup of joe if you happen to be in the area. read more

The wait it usually 5-10minutes if there is a line. 3-5minute wait after ordering because each drink is made to order. The baristas make the drinks very well. Always good to have a drive-thru coffee option for those mornings when getting out of your car sounds like the worst. Or putting on pants. This non-traditional drive-thru is great because it makes the most of the space outside of a hardware store. It doesn't have speakers but rather you order at the window. I almost always get a cup of regular black drip coffee and it's solid. Back in the day it was Oddly Correct coffee but they have since been bought and switched to the ever-growing Messenger coffee. Prices are on par with other cups in the area, $2-3 for drip. The inside is smaller but nice, although I'm always all in on the drive-thru when I come here. Side note, I believe tipping is totally up to you, the service you receive and something that follows certain social norms so you take this with a grain of salt.. In my experience, most local places with a drive-thru and inside have the employees doubling up on what they do. I worked at a dry cleaners in high school where we'd be running in and out and then handling things inside, and it was nice to receive a tip for providing the extra service. I find that if they're friendly here (and they usually are) and you're having a specially made drink while jammin' out in your car, it's probably a good time to tip! read more
