We stopped by Fin + Fowl on Saturday, a few minutes after opening, and there were already groups of people waiting in line to order; with a steady stream after that. That is always a good sign when trying someplace new, and we soon discovered why. I ordered an Ahi Tuna Bento Plate, with Yuzu glaze. The Tuna was served on a bed of bok choi and sesame fried rice, with slices of mandarin orange artfully arranged inside the bowl. The Tuna was cooked a perfect medium rare, as requested, and the citrus flavors of the glaze pared perfectly with other components of the dish. I would say that flavors were subtle and fresh, yet still delicious. My wife opted for a Poke bowl (with tofu in place of tuna), and I found the mix of flavors in that dish a little more bold and complex, so I may try that next time (with the Ahi tuna). The presentation of this dish is also pretty amazing. The service was quick, despite the steady flow of foot traffic, and they brought our bowls out to us once ready (we were seated at an outside table, but there is indoor bar seating along the windows). The attention to detail also made the experience easy for us -- they have thoughtfully placed water and bussing stations both inside and outside, which was a nice touch. Given today's cost of dining out, the portion size and quality were well worth the price. Anytime you can get that kind of freshness, flavor, and quick service all combined, it's definitely worthy of 5-stars. We live 20 minutes away, so I'm sure we will be back soon. read more

A friend and I were looking for a highly rated place to eat in Silverton and the is did not disappoint. Delicious! When we walked in I wasn't sure since it wasn't really a sit down place. There is some seating outside and a covered side area that also had seating. We were not that hungry so we shared a Sweet Root Ramen bowl and they kindly split it into two bowls and presented them beautifully. This pictured bowl is just a half serving. Wow, this place was a wonderful find after a cold and rainy hike at Silver Falls. Everything was incredibly fresh, colorful and delicious. My partner and I both had ramen. The salmon and chicken in the ramen were especially delicious. Friends had veggie curry and poke bowl and ate up every bite. The fridge was full of delicious looking food. I ended up getting a vegan cassoulet for the next day's lunch. It was so flavorful and satisfying. I wish I lived closer, I would be visiting weekly! read more

Personally I would have liked more veggies but it was very flavorful Portions were very generous and excellent quality with a good price point Ginger cookies were delicious. Each of the Ramen dishes were good serving sizes and the food all looked wonderful, it unfortunately was missing a flavorful broth and the flavor was overall bland compared to other Ramen restaurants and dishes we have tried. Took a drive into Silverton and I noticed the high reviews for this restaurant and the menu intrigued us. Coming from Hawaii, with its myriad of Japanese influences and locations for awesome food, I believe I have a good basis to begin this review. Especially since the two dishes we got were Japanese inspired. First off, parking. Make sure to come with some spare change to pay for on street parking or be willing to walk for about a minute or so to get to this place. It's located on the main street and borders a residential neighborhood. Due to COVID, you cannot eat in the restaurant but there are a few outside tables. Weather was great the day we went so this wasn't an issue. The owner was also suggestive on which side of the restaurant to sit on. (One side was less hot than the other due to how the sun was hitting, as well as more quiet cause it was on the side street side). According to my gf, who ordered the curry, it was delicious and reminded her of the Japanese curry we have in Hawaii. It was filled with all sorts of vegetables and it was plentiful (see pic). My ramen was also very delicious. The pork pieces were huge and tender. Often times when you order ramen, some places have pork that is big but tough to eat because it hasn't been cooked long enough. Not so here. The pieces of pork in my ramen were all perfectly cooked. Fork tender. And again, very plentiful. The broth was thin for my taste, but nonetheless very delicious. Small kine heat/spice but you can taste the time and effort it took to make it. The rest of the menu looked good but we really needed food that reminded us of home (Hawaii). We were a few days into staying in Salem, Oregon and we just needed some comfort food so the 20-30min drive here was a no-brainer. We will definitely come back when we return on our next trip to Oregon. read more

Looking for a new place to eat, a friend and I stopped here for a lunch. She had the kalua pork over rice and I had the alder-smoked salmon/bok choy/shiitake mushroom ramen with rice noodles. The salmon was heavy on a "liquid smoke" type flavoring and to me, tasted like a fake smoked salmon... but they smoke the salmon in-house so I know it wasn't fake; it was just liquid-smoke-y flavored. The shiitake mushrooms and boy choy were good, the broth was very mild. Rice noodles in a ramen dish were new to me and by the time the broth cooled off enough to eat them, they had disintegrated into gobs of little pieces. My friend's rice bowl was good but she said it would have been better if it had had some kind of sauce on it as it was a lot of steamed rice without any kind of sauce. She also had the gyoza appetizer and I had a spam musubi with sriracha mayo, both of which were tasty. We agreed that we could have stuck with the appetizers and been satisfied, both in amount of food and in taste. Parking is on the street and requires feeding the meter, always a challenge for me because I don't carry change but we were able to scrounge a quarter and some dimes to plug said meter. Make sure you take some change or park farther away. Due to COVID, there is no indoor seating available and today the breeze was blowing just a bit too cold and windy for eating outside so we took our food back to my friend's house. It'll be nice once they can provide indoor seating again. Bottom line: food was good enough to warrant another trip to Silverton to try something else because you know I'll be skipping anything smoked :D With the variety of menu items, I'm sure that won't be a problem. read more
