This is a 4.5 star review. I went with a group of 8 to Sanae Thai for a late lunch around 3pm on a Friday. There was no one else in the restaurant. The decor is pretty simple, yet culturally traditional, which is nice. The menu is expansive with classics and unique flavors too. I found the prices to be market rate as well. It's not always easy to balance a group of 8, but the woman behind the counter did a fantastic job, all with a smile. The food didn't all come out at once, but they did a great job timing it considering there was only one chef there (I believe). My chicken pad thai ($15) was so good. It was hearty and flavorful and full of sodium haha. I took some to go and am sad that I left my leftovers at my brother's house . I wish I could eat it right now. This is a great spot for a casual and classic meal.

Delicious spring rolls and some tea to start.

We were in Salem for work and decided to grab some thai food. This place was cozy and quiet. The server was amazingm she was so sweet and informative of the menu items. We started with tea and ordered some spring rolls to share. I had a dish that was tender chicken with a peanut based sauce with crushed peanuts served with a side of steamed rice and broccoli. There was ample parking and its well lit. We would like return if we are ever in the area. Check them out.

Delicious! Definitely will be back. Service was really good, and very quick. The restaurant was decorated nicely. They had enough variety on the menu without it being too many options. We enjoyed the pad see ew, massaman curry, pancakes or roti, and mango sticky rice. Everything we ordered was 10/10

New Onwers, new menu. Really good Thai food. We ordered crisp fried rice, which was outstanding. Panang curry was standard and the cashew chicken was a bit too salty. Over all our food was really good.

    Thai Ice Coffee A+!

Very tasty food! First "Thai spicy" I've had without tears, but with great flavor. Definitely mom and pop shop, but a lot of space and good food. Worth a try!

    Container only 1/2 full.

This is my 2nd time ordering. First time was great. This 2nd time, I ordered the Mango Paradise (via uber eats). The container was only 1/2 full. Ridiculous. Don't think I'll order here again. Too bad because the flavor is good, but I'm not paying $20 for 2 oz of chicken and 6 small pieces of mango.

    Satisfied after dinner :)

I love this place. I have been here twice now. Great prices, delicious beef Pho and orange chicken. Atmosphere is calm and lady is very attentive and seated us right away and let us take our time after we finished. I recommend supporting and enjoying this calming, yummy restaurant.

The food was absolutely DELICIOUS during our family lunch! The staff were all perfectly attentive and welcoming, the bathrooms were clean and accessible, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I HIGHLY recommend you try Sanae Thai Cuisine out if you enjoy Thai food.

Awesome food and great service! Shrimp are amazingly BIG! Would come back again for sure. Price is reasonable for the portions as well.

Hands down the best Thai food in South Salem (there are 5 Thai restaurants plus the Blue Thai truck…read morein South Salem--I recommend all but one). And easily the best Thai in South Salem, West Salem, or Keizer. Have only tried one place on Lancaster, so I can't claim it's the best in Salem. The chef/owner makes all of her own sauces and Thai curries from scratch and they are all amazing compared to all the commercial premade sauces and curry pastes used by almost everyone else. Her homemade Pad Thai sauce blew my wife and I away, and she doesn't skimp on it like other places. You could taste the freshly soaked tamarind and lots of other awesome flavors. Her homemade Thai yellow curry in the Golden Chicken curry (totally different than Indian yellow curry) was floral and very tasty--unlike any other Thai yellow curry I've had elsewhere. Highly recommend the Golden Chicken curry, the Shrimp Ceramic Pot with what appeared to be tasty mung beans noodles, and of course the Pad Thai. The Thai basil chicken was good another time, but wasn't significantly better than other places. My wife ordered a side of peanut sauce (because most places skimp on their pad thai sauce they probably buy at an Asian grocery store) but there was too much going on in it for us--plus when the Pad Thai arrived, it needed nothing added to it, was perfect as it was. But I bet that homemade peanut sauce would be awesome if cooked into something else, which is probably what it's for. The salt and pepper fried calamari was also great--and cut differently than any other Thai or Chinese restaurant in Salem. I ordered my dishes "spicy" and they really weren't hot at all--catered to an American palette--I drizzled some of her hot chile oil on, and was great. We also love dining in here as opposed to takeout. The seating is spacious, spread out enough, and the atmosphere is quiet with some low volume music. The decor is obviously Thai, but in no way overdone or gaudy. Very relaxing atmosphere. Plenty of people came in both times I've gone to pick up take-out orders, so I'm sure it's good. The location is on the east side of South Commercial up in that elevated strip mall before you get to Kuebler across from MAPS Credit Union. We are definitely going back there a 3rd time--and hopefully I'll order something new instead of reordering what I already know is amazing--which will probably be hard for me, because I'm already craving what I've already had. Service was also very friendly and attentive. The owner/chef made several trips around the dining room to make sure everyone's meals were fine. If I had three hands, I'd give this place three enthusiastic thumbs up!

Big Blue Thai BBQ is everything that I could ever want from Thai food. Our main dish was the Grilled Pork and Papaya Salad combo and it was absolutely addicting. The beautiful smoke on the pork from the charcoal grill complemented perfectly with the spicy, tangy papaya salad adding so much freshness to the dish. While the food was amazing, the real star of the show were the lovely people that operate the truck. They were both so genuinely friendly and welcoming and made our experience exponentially better. We only wish that we had found this place sooner.

The sauce that came with it was remarkable -- sweet, savory, and totally crave-worthy. We ate outside and it was a really nice setup. Staff wasn't great. Relaxed, clean, and a great vibe for enjoying food truck-style Thai BBQ. My husband ordered one of the spicy dishes (unfortunately I can't remember the name), and just a heads-up -- it was next level spicy. He's a total spice connoisseur and has eaten some seriously intense heat, but this was the first time I've ever seen him unable to finish a dish. So definitely be careful if you're spice-sensitive! That said, it was still a 5-star experience overall. Amazing food, friendly atmosphere, and definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Once we found it, parked, and went in the experience dramatically improved. The hostess was very friendly and it really does feel like you're in someone's home to get a meal. Large portions, well seasoned, and it felt like the chef really cared about the food. The inside of the restaurant is nice and clean. The outside of the building is a bit run down and iffy looking, but who cares? Just go inside, and forget about the outside needing a paint job.
