This place was absolutely amazing. The food was amazing and the customer service was the best I have ever seen. While there, there was an error in the system, causing the order to take around 45 minutes to come out. The waitress noticed this, fixed it and notified the manager. The manager then asked my date and I if we had any allergies and brought out some extra food for free. Then asked if we wanted anything on the house. Our food came out very soon after and as mentioned, was amazing. After finishing, the waitress asked if we wanted anything else, we declined and told us all of our food was on the house and we were set to go. We got two meals entirely free. Would definitely recommend this place and would have been satisfied paying full price for the food. read more

Fantastic Dinner! Our waiter was fantastic with a solid sense of humor. The food was amazing! I ordered the braised short rib and it was insanely delicious. My wife had the pork chop and she said it was one of the best she ever had. Our kids (16&20) both loved their dinners as well. Delicious food and good service, but one negative comment that I think is very important. This probably applies to a lot of restaurants in Santa Barbara, but this is the one I went to. Santa Barbara has tap water that smells like sulfur, and the smell affects the taste. People who live there become a little nose-blind to it, but to someone coming in from elsewhere, it is shocking that a nice restaurant would actually serve tap water in Santa Barbara. Offer "sparkling or still" and serve bottled water either way. Charge for it. Let people have tap water if they ask for it explicitly. That is what nice restaurants in most parts of the world do, because people don't assume that the tap water is good to drink. In most of the US, the tap water is fine, but not in Santa Barbara! Stop serving tap water except on specific request! read more

I struggled with 3 vs 4 stars. Cocktail and waiter saved the day for them. Came here for dinner on Saturday night. Able to get same day reservations on open table. Hostesses were sweet. Russ, our waiter was great, in spite of him being so busy. I did feel like they had him hustling more tables than he should for such a nice restaurant. The restaurant itself is classy looking. The sweet pickled veggies given to each table was different. I didn't care for them personally. My sister ate a carrot and a cauliflower. She said it was ok. Sister drank the guava margarita and liked it. I had the menage a colada(?) drink. I can't remember if that's the right name and it's not on their online menu. It was amazingly delicious (I had two). Sister ordered a basic salad to which she added avocado and tomato, she liked it. I ordered the daily special, which was baby back ribs, jalapeño cornbread, red cabbage slaw and beans with bacon. I didn't eat the cornbread, sister said it was kinda sweet. Beans were hot, but most beans weren't cooked all the way. The ribs were tasty and tender, but barely warm like they had been sitting under a lamp or something. Slaw was decent. Ice cream, by local company McConnells, was delicious. If I lived here or visited more often, I probably would give this place another try. read more

We had breakfast on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. I was drawn by the $12 bottomless mimosas, which were great and kept coming. I really appreciate a bottomless drink that is truly bottomless. Went for dinner 6/22. Nice environment.service was polite and attentive but a bit confused. The kitchen was thrown off by a very large party, delaying our food. They took off two items off check unasked; that was above and beyond. Really interesting cocktails. Wine list by the glass a bit limited in the reds. The food was great! The hush puppies were delicious as was the corn skillet. The latter delayed but worth the wait. The grilled trout was very good and the pork cheek gnocchi delicious. Portions larger than expected. Desserts were good but not as good as the description. Overall very nice and would return. read more

Went there for a birthday brunch. Food was okay, nothing spectacular (huevos rancheros), service absolutely terrible. Everyone in our section was asking other waitstaff to find our waitress, not sure what the issue was. The booth we were seated in had a big depression in the middle, making it very uncomfortable, especially when we were there so long due to slow service. While they may think it is cute, after a not-great experience, I was not amused to receive our bill in a folder that says "fork it over" on the cover. I get the play on words but it seemed kind of tacky. By the way, when we made the reservation we were asked if it was for a special occasion and did say it was a birthday, but this was not acknowledged in any way at the restaurant. Went to Finch & Fork on valentine's night. All of the dishes we had were excellent. Service was also very good.

My BF and I had brunch here on Memorial Day. The food was very good. But it was quite possibly the worst service i've ever experienced in my life. Like... comically bad. 1) When we arrived there was a wait. This was surprising because the restaurant wasn't at all crowded, but we figured they may have a lot of reservations coming it so we told the hostess we'd wait at the bar. After having a drink, I realized she hadn't taken our name or number, so in curiosity went back to see how she planned to contact us when the table was ready. We found out she did not even put us on the list when we arrived. She also didn't recall the conversation we had had ten minutes prior. Again it wasn't crowded or busy. 2) We ended up just eating at the bar because of the issue described in #1. There were dirty dishes from the people who ate there before us for the first 25 minutes -- I timed it -- we were there. Even when a person came to clear the dirty dishes, he only took away about half of the dirty dishes, and left the ones that were slightly out of his reach. I eventually handed them to the bar tender who really didn't seem to take the hint that leaving dirty dishes at a bar counter being used by diners is unacceptable. Also, to note, we did see dirty dishes on almost every empty table around, so perhaps all their bus boys quit or were on strike. Also, the counter was never wiped down after the prior diners so was dirty. 3) We ordered a second round of drinks which never came. As we all know, drinks make the money so this was a pretty big oops on their part. We ordered the second round again from a separate server. 4) When the check came, the comedy continued. He charged us for 2 glasses of wine instead of 2 beers. There was a small difference in price but we didn't bother trying to get it fixed because we didn't have another 30 minutes to sit there. When we paid with a credit card he did not give us a pen to sign and then disappeared to be useless elsewhere. We had to walk over to another table paying and borrow their pen. I want to reiterate that the food was quite good (my boyfriend had the huevos rancheros and I had the pork belly egg dish, both of which were delish). But the service ruined the experience for us. In general I am a huge fan of Kimpton hotels, and i thought it was particularly damaging to their brand to host such a pathetic establishment in their lobby. The entirety of the staff needs REMEDIAL service training immediately. read more

We had breakfast here, courtesy of the Canary Hotel, and the food was fabulous. I had an egg white omelet with market vegetables, feta and quinoa, and a side of fresh fruit. It was filling, healthy and very fresh. Husband got the pork belly breakfast sandwich, which he really enjoyed. Other than needing our water refilled a little sooner, we loved the place.
