I'm sort of a kombucha fanatic, ok maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I do love it. Put it like this, for me nothing comes before coffee but kombucha is a close second (to my delight they make their own coffee brewed kombucha). This particular drink is not something one can easily get accustomed to, but when you do it's irresistible. I recently turned to it because my favorite drink, coffee, tends to irritate my stomach. After finding all about kombucha's health benefits I found myself more willing to try it, and quickly grew an appreciation for it. Plus I've noticed it's less harmful towards my stomach. At this point I've tried a few brands, artisanal brands you can find at small shops and eateries, and others you'll find at organic markets such as Whole Foods. Fine Feathers is one I've seen at some of the local business in Long Beach, yet I've not had the pleasure until now. Recently, I kept telling myself that I had to come to their shop to have a taste. So I made the trip. I'll admit I was expecting to find a shop with available seating but instead it's a facility used to create and store their products. Therefore, you choose the drinks you want, pay at the neatly decorated counter, and head out. But the wonder of this shop are its charming owners, Jay and Jodine. You'll see how amiable they can be and the joy they show in explaining their story. The passion and love they have for their craft shines right through them. Most striking was their easy-going attitude; making our visit very enjoyable. There's no kombucha I haven't liked yet, I like the subtleties each brand has to offer. Of course, some are better than others, but they're all worth a try. So far the five flavor varieties I have tried from Fine Feathers have been refreshingly delightful. It's certainly become one of my favorites, and the fact that I can directly buy and interact with this shop's owners has made it that much more pleasurable. Found this gem online and went to visit first-hand. Very simple, clean, inviting space and welcomed by Jodine the owner. She was beyond helpful with my questions, suggested one of their classes, and offered samples of their select Kombucha's on tap. They have a nice selection of loose leaf teas, starter kits, scoby's, and a selection of equipment that would benefit any home brewer. You can tell they're all about the community of home brewers, they have lots of classes to improve your craft and the owner couldn't have been any more accommodating. Jay and Jodine are the owners everyone looks for in a small business to support. They care about the quality of their product, their customers, and customer service. Fine Feathers is the best kombucha I've experienced - and it's always great to stop in and talk to them. I haven't been able to do that most of the year because of the mandated closures. I was able to get my FF fix at Salud on 4th in Long Beach as they stayed open and stocked. Fine Feathers just reopened 6/19/2020 and I stopped in today for the first time since the shut down. They aren't allowed to sample yet but it was great to see them, get a little kombucha knowledge, pickup some 32oz meowers, and a cup to go. My family and I have been buying from Fine Feathers for almost a year. I first tried their kombucha through Steamed, and ever since I have stopped buying synergy or any other brand of kombucha because I am now extremely picky! This is because Fine Feathers makes such a great, refreshing drink that is amazing for your gut health. They even have kombucha on tap which are usually made from seasonal ingredients, so they're always changing. I am never disappointed with their new flavors, I will be happy with any drink from here. I recently found out about Kombucha during a trip to Hawaii. I ate at a vegan food truck on Oahu and tried their home made Kombucha. It was orange flavored had carbonation and had a hint of alcohol. I was hooked. When I returned home to Long Beach, I found Fine Feathers on Yelp. With perfect reviews I had to make the short drive to check them out. Entering the shop I was amazed at the bottles and bottles of Kombucha they had. I tried two samples and they were delicious. I met one of the owners and she was super nice and informative. I took home five bottles and I she told me that there's an incentive if I bring the empty bottles back. Now that's caring about the environment. We regularly come here to grab a big growler of Kombucha. Lots of great flavors, locally made (literally right there in the shop) and it's way cheaper than the stuff you get at Whole Foods. Jay, one of the owners, was very accommodating and knowledgeable- He even let us sample a handful of flavors while he taught us about each product! My boyfriend doesn't like strong vinegar flavor typically in kombucha whereas I prefer that flavor, but they had plenty of options for both of us. My personal favorite is the Lemon Cayenne, and my partner liked the Lavender Camomile. They also have kegs for parties, etc. Love this sustainable business! Can I just say, this place has become my favorite spot to visit on a weekly basis to stock up on my weekly Kombucha addiction. The owner and his staff are amazing. I love how you are greeted with such warmth and kindness and plenty of samples of their daily brew selection. I will be sad if the day ever comes that I won't be close enough to stop by weekly. I have seriously ended my Starbucks relationship to have one with Fine Feathers. This is by far the best Kombucha I have ever had. There is no excessive bitterness, no excessive "vinergar-y" taste, no weird after taste. It's perfectly refreshing deliciousness. Please stop and pay them a visit and support local small business. This allows me to pour myself a small glass or take a swig if no one is watching :) Can't help but sneak a swig out of the cool shaped growler bottle.
