Ordered a smallish chocolate birthday cake over the phone at 9am and it was ready as promised at 4pm - so, same-day service with personalized birthday greeting and blue flowers in the icing. The middle layer was a chocolate fondant. We got complements on the taste. I thought it was pretty good, moist and not TOO sweet. I liked it that the frosting was neither bitter or too much of it. #1 - CASH only business. Come prepared. #2 - Fairly obsure location. It's accessible via the parking lot behind the CVS pharmacy. It's to the right of Hayward Aikido. #3 - I mostly pointed to what I wanted. Asked about rolls, and he gave answers in a few words. Got the gist of what he meant. Tried several items there. Cookies 2/5 - the $2 grab bag cookies were on the crunchy, buttery, somewhat stale side. On the plus, you get ~6 cookies, but overall, not worth it. Also tried the coconut cookie, equally did not impress me. Not sweet if that's your thing. Had quite a bit of butter left on my fingers after eating two cookies. Meringue cookie 4/5 - this pleasantly surprised me. Sweet, white, and crunchy, definitely hit the spot after the cookies. Cranberry bread 5/5 - mini loaf. This was AMAZING. Didn't have high expectations after the cookies, but the bread was suprisingly moist and soft. Would definitely go there to get their loaves again. Also had banana and pumpkin flavor varieties. Long flaky pastry 4/5 - not sure what it was, but it tasted good. WIth the exception of the grab bag and coconut cookies, the rest of the baked goods were solid. Would consider frequenting again just for the breads. Curious to try their muffins and croissants in the future! read more

I just came from there and bought a $2 bag of assorted pastries. They were STALE. Not just day old STALE but a few days old stale. I blame myself because I didn't look at the goods in the bag. I should have taken a closer look because when I got home and tried them I noticed that they were dry, hard and in the case of the jellied danish, the jelly had a strange coating on it possibly from being left in the bag for days. There is no smell to the pastry...not even a stale smell. It makes me wonder if these things were left on that shelf for a week or longer. As I write this, I have a bad taste in my mouth and starting to feel sick in my stomach. For good measure, I examined each pastry (4 per bag) and noticed that all were dry, had no smell and was difficult to break apart -- something that shouldn't happen with flake pastry. This was my one and only time at the bakery and will probably not return. I wrote this after the city of Hayward began to relax masking standards and I have no idea how long the bakery has been open since the pandemic. Perhaps this bag of bread had been left on the shelf during lockdown and I am the unlucky one who ended up buying the bag. read more

Delicious! Wandered in tonight and was surprised they were open amid the pandemic. First time customer and definitely will return. I purchased a bag of 4 assorted muffins for $2 and two large meringue cookies for $0.55 each. The cookies didn't last that long and were gone before I even left the parking lot. Temptation grabbed me when I returned home and I dove into the lemon poppyseed muffin. It was moist and exploding with flavor. The other muffins look to be blueberry, chocolate, and maybe pumpkin? We stopped by Fink's Bakery last night to show our friends where it was located in Hayward. We had a $5 bill left in our pocket and you wouldn't believe what you could buy for $5 there. I love pumpkin and they had pumpkin Loaves for $3 a piece. What a great deal. I couldn't even make a pumpkin loaf for $3. They also had assorted muffins for in a pack $2. That's $0.50 a piece guys. What do you pay for a muffin at Dunkin Donuts on Noah's? This place is a no brainer. read more

This place has very good baked goods but it is probably a wholesale bakery. This means don't treat staff like they will wait on you hand and foot because they are probably used to selling like 50 loaves of bread to a retail coffee shop owner and they aren't trained to deal with Johnny Walk-In asking if the sugar is organic. Currently banana bread LOAF at ~$3 each?! Nice deal considering the quality is pretty good (again think like $2.50 per SLICE at a coffee shop). I eat it in the car on the way to work. read more

Fink's is out of view from the main streets. It's located within a parking lot near B street. In the parking lot, it's sign is the most prominent with it's back background and white type. Inside really feels like a mom and pop shop. They have racks of croissants, waiting to be moved, in the middle of the floor plan. The back of the kitchen is exposed for view yet it's not intended to impress. The glass counter showcases their selection of hand-sized goodies like cookies, muffins, strudels, and the like. Their prices are really affordable. You can get an entire loaf of pound cake for $2.50 while most of their other good are about $1 flat. I ordered a blueberry muffin for $1. The service is okay, the lady kept saying, "Is that it?", about three times. She seemed nice enough. The quality of the muffin I ordered was okay. It's about an average muffin. The presentation is good enough. It has crumbles on the top, well exposed blueberries, and the muffin itself is fairly large. The flavor and moistness wasn't mind-blowing, but it did the job. I would come back if I didn't want to spend that much for a decent baked good. read more

I would get it more often, but you know what effect that would have on the hips... next time I go, I'll get something different, maybe it won't stick so much ;) As Michael H noted, they're invisible unless you're driving through the parking lot behind CVS, Siam Palace and Buffalo Bill's. The boy and I here always stop by Fink's bakery when we are in downtown Hayward. They sell their baked goods for pocket pleasing prices. Their scones are scrumptious! We bought a pack of 4 for $1.50 and it was totally worth it. Each scone was big enough to share with a friend. We also purchased some soft oatmeal cookies. This must be one of Hayward's best kept secrets. I've lived in this area since 1988 and just discovered this bakery today. It wasn't easy to find. Apparently it's B St address puts it in a parking lot to the left of the Salvation Army. The place looks like it's been there forever. Not much to look at. However what limited selection they do have tastes GREAT!! And everything is very reasonably priced. I got a bag of 4 giant day old muffins and a loaf of pumpkin bread all for five dollars. The pumpkin bread is excellent. I put the muffins in the microwave for 30 seconds each. They too taste wonderful. read more

I ordered a 1/2 sheet cake & a dozen cupcakes for my baby's 1st birthday last month. I brought them a picture of a princess tiara and they didn't follow it correctly - it looked like an adult cake, not for a child. The cake did not taste cook. The frosting was greasy. We had lots of leftovers. The cupcakes were the worst though. The frosting was digusting, even my baby wouldn't eat it! No one would eat the cupcakes. It was so disappointing. Our first time to visit Hayward and parked in the public lot off B Street and saw the sign. Saw the song and went in. I thought I might be coming in the back door because the kitchen is to the right.
