Quick take: quality baked goods Love seeing Alonso Baking and Foods at the local Farmer's Market. We don't have pictures of the stuff that we buy. It goes very quickly in my house. We always buy a few foccacia rounds, guava danishes, and various baked goods. Finally tried a mild pork tamale. It's very good.

I visit them at the farmer's market. I love everything I've gotten from them. Every time I go I get the foccacia bread and cut it into fourths heat it up and have a piece with coffee for breakfast. So many great toppings. Yesterday I tried their chocolate chip cookies. Addictive. I usually get snickerdoodles but they didn't have any. I suggest you try them next time you're at the San Leandro farmer's market.

Really nice bakery we visit occasionally at the San Mateo farmers market. Excellent tamales, jalapeno cheese bread, cookies, and we tried a larger/family sized almond pastry that is particularly delicious. I'm not sure if it comes in an individual size but the large one lasts for a while in a ziploc. Very friendly folks, too. Pay them a visit!

As I'm walking through the Bayfair Farmer's Market, I notice a huge line leading up to this stall with fresh baked breads and pastries. Alonso certainly caught my attention but I thought - there's no way they would have anything for a vegan to consume. Welp, I was wrong, and I'm glad I checked. They actually offer a wonderful slice of Vegan Pumpkin Bread ($4.25) that I could not refuse. It was their only vegan friendly option (I checked) but given that it was something intentionally made for plant based eaters, I was willing to treat myself just for today. Admittedly I tend to avoid added sugars or oil in my everyday life, but if I'm going to go "all out," I may as well purchase it from a local source. What's the verdict? ...YUM! Vegan or not, this pumpkin bread was amazing! Incredibly moist, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweetness that really made me happy I stopped for one. I wish they had more options but I will certainly take what I can get. Next time I'm in town at the market, I will definitely be coming back again for another slice of pumpkin bread.

OVERALL: I found Alonso's at the CSM farmer's market (Saturdays, 9am-1pm). I would suggest going early. They start to sell out as it gets later. They're the best bakery booth at this market. FOOD: The first time I went, I got an artichoke bread. This time, I got a pesto bread and a pastry. I was going to get the artichoke one again but they were out. I'm equally as pleased with the pesto bread and am glad I got to try something new. The pastry was an apricot strudel. It was good but I wish they used fresh fruit instead of apricot preserves. They sell many other types of pastries, cookies, breads (sliced loaves and artisan breads), and more. SERVICE: They're quick and efficient so there is never a line. The people working are friendly. They also take credit cards.

I always come to get treats for my kid's teachers (for their birthdays, teacher appreciation week, just because, etc.). I've brought friends visiting the Bay Area to this bakery, which they have loved. Always Yours also has fun cup sleeve events, macaron classes and afternoon tea from time to time. We love supporting small businesses and this one is definitely worth supporting! P.S. with all these drink places popping up in the area...we still think the drinks at Always Yours not only taste better, but also are of higher quality.

Order the ube cheesecake, butter toffee cookie, and a assam milk tea with boba. The order came out quickly. Ube Japanese cheesecake is tasty, not too much ube taste. It is super light and moist, love how it is not too sweet. For the assam milk tea, I prefer it with more tea flavor. The drink was ok, the matcha drinks look better. The butter toffee cookie was the best, it was flavorful, the toffee has added toasted nutty flavor with some sugar. I would get a box full. Overall, has a great variety of baked goods.

It's in a corner of a very cute gourmet food hall and had a good selection of goods left in mid-afternoon on a weekday. Service is also friendly and prompt. I had to get the kouign amann because I always get one wherever I can, and also picked up a plain croissant, currant scone, and panna cotta. The KA was decent; I would call this one a diet KA because they only put the sugar on one side so it was more like a brulee'd croissant. I also have to admit that, while this shaping is very attractive, the direction of the lamination makes eating this feel like shards in my mouth. However, flavor was excellent. The plain croissant is very plain. It's decent but I've had better. The scone and panna cotta, however, were delightful. Both had lovely soft textures and wonderful creamy flavors. The scone held up for two days and wasn't even a bit stale when I finally had it for breakfast. Highly recommend this tucked-away bakery in the Castro Valley!

Seven Hills Baking Co was my first stop as I haven't had sourdough since childhood. I got their classic sourdough loaf. Even though it wasn't warm anymore it was still amazing. It was quite hard to cut into with a serrated bread knife, which I'm not sure whether that's normal or abnormal for gluten sourdough. However, the inside was lovely and soft. Nice strong sour flavor, spongy dough that was almost moist (not at all dry). I want to note on the gluten free front that seven hills baking co offers a few items which they advertise to be gluten free. Though the ingredients may be gluten free, the items are baked in the same kitchen, the same oven, and then put side by side with the gluten in the display case. Furthermore I don't believe their ingredients are all certified gluten free. Therefore I do not recommend seven hills baking co for anybody with celiac disease. Do not buy your friend with a gluten allergy or celiac these items. There is most certainly cross contact.
