Fiorella has long been one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city. All of my experiences have been amazing. Until tonight. We were throwing a going away party with close friends, and booked a reservation for a table of 6. It was a meaningful and special event. Multiple rounds of drinks, dinner, and dessert later, we were on our last round when the host came over and asked us if we were done, and he needed to turn around the table. All with a condescending tone and smile. They had been waiting for 25 minutes, which was, as he made clear, our fault. Mind you, our food came out and paced our evening, which was not an issue for us. I understand needing to seat a table, but pushing out large groups who had a reservation? On a week night at 8:40? Alright. We hadn't even finished our last round of drinks, but left after feeling pressured to do so. What an interesting way to end a celebratory dinner. RIP my leftover espresso martini I love supporting local restaurants. But I've never experienced being pushed out of dinner by a host before. read more

We've been wanting to stop here for awhile and finally got the chance for dinner, not realizing it was happy hour which is an added bonus! Since we didn't have a reservation, we were offered seating outside or at the bar. We took a seat out on the sidewalk and were promptly brought menus and water. We decided to split a pizza and a pasta dish together, as we were really excited to try both of these options. The sweet corn pizza (not on the happy hour menu) came out first and not gonna lie, it was amazing. I didn't miss that it had no sauce and the corn and pickled onions were a beautiful pairing. Just as we were finishing up our slices, the bowl of cacio e pepe came out. This is one of my partner's favourite pasta dish and he thought it was delicious and perfectly done. The pasta had the right amount of bite and the sauce was delicate with just enough to coat the noodles without overwhelming them. Between the two dishes, we had the perfect amount of food for the two of us. We also had a glass of wine each, which complimented both options well. The service was timely and very kind and awesome. They answered questions and gave us feedback on the dishes we were ordering. This is an absolutely lovely restaurant and we were not disappointed. Absolutely recommend coming here during their happy hours during the weekday before 6:30pm!! Everything is 10 dollars cheaper than the regular menu and exactly the same size. The four cheese pizza was a miss, there was clearly not four types of cheese. Definitely recommend the mushroom pizza though. I've been coming to this location over the last few years and have had a great experience every time! The outside patio is a great place for a dinner on a nice night. However, if you're at the tables against the building there is a lot of foot traffic right next to you. It's been pretty easy to do a same day res, have also done walk ins and have never had to wait more than 20min! My favorite appetizer they have is the herb crusted chicken wings. They are so tasty and juicy, definitely something I get every time I'm here. Favorite pasta here is by far the rigatoni. The sauce is fantastic and the servings are generous. I've tried their pizzas as well, but not many since I always choose pasta over pizza. Their drinks are great as well, I love their spritz and it's a large class for a decent price. read more

Came here for a friend's birthday dinner on a Tuesday evening! It was pretty full, so I would recommend making a reservation! We got a bottle of white wine to share - all of the wine is 50% off on Tuesdays, so definitely recommend stopping by! For the appetizers, we got the brussel sprouts and the arancini - both were incredibly flavorful and delicious! I'm still thinking about the arancini - it's probably some of the best I've had! We got the Burrata Pie and the Tuscan Kale Pie - both were amazing, the Tuscan Kale pie had a nice kick to it with the chili. We shared the Radiatore Alla Vodka Diavolo which was also really flavorful. For dessert, we shared the chocolate budino, which was very rich and decadent! Celebrated my friend's 40th here and we didn't realize it was restaurant week! It was a great coincidence as they have a set menu for the night! I love what I had which included-- prosciutto and persimmons for appetizers, squid ink pasta with shrimp for my main and the Budino for dessert. All good but my favorite was the main! Spicy and tasty and the pasta is well made, the shrimps are large and meaty! We also ordered funghi pie in addition and some Arancinis! Service was great! My friends were a bit late but they were very flexible and did not let us feel like they were in a hurry to kick us out! Ambiance is vibrant and casual! I enjoy those chatters when we are in a restaurant that is so good and everyone seems to be just having a great conversation over a good meal! 4 stars because there was one time we asked some wait staff (not our server) the name of a food that was ordered by another table but she looked so busy and clueless at the same time and we never got a response. Awesome spot! I thought the vibes inside were cute and the wallpaper was super cool. We ended up getting the OG baby lettuce salad, the salsiccia pie and the radiatore alla vodka pasta. The salad was good. Nothing amazing but after reading that it was a creamy avocado dressing we expected the dressing to be heavy but to our surprise it was super light. It looks big but very good appetizer salad. The pizza was great. It packed a lot of flavor and the crust/undercarriage was perfectly crispy. One thing I will note is that it had a lot of oil which dripped out so be careful with your clothes. We got a side of their ranch which was super good. You could taste the dill in it and it wasn't super heavy either! The pasta was probably the best thing we got. It tasted more like a bolognese but super good. I'm not sure if it was ricotta but whatever came on the top made it even better. Wish we got more of it. Overall, the place was super cute and awesome atmosphere. Out door seating is nice - great ambience, safe, clean sidewalk, lots of foot traffic, plenty of heating for outdoor seats in the evenings. Service is ok. The waiters are polite, but the service is overall pretty slow, it's clear the the restaurant is under staffed. Tried to order the grilled octopus as a starter and they are out of it... it wasn't even 8:00pm, the restaurant seems very popular... Overall the food flavor is a 6.5-7/10, nothing regarding taste really stood out to us. The crab they use for pasta tasted fresh. One redeeming quality for a Italian restaurant is they cooked the pasta perfectly to Al-dente, which surprisingly, a lot of Italian restaurants in SF seem to mess up easily. This alone is the reason why I bumped the restaurant from 3 stars to 4 stars. read more

Fantastic food, great service. We started with the Crostino "Alla Norma." It was absolutely amazing. A tomato fell off and I tried it before I tried the whole dish and it tasted like some of the best pasta sauce I've ever had. The entire dish was perfect. I would do this dish a disservice if I tried to describe it, but it was so good. I saw the pizzas and they looked and smelled delicious but they looked a little on the smaller side and I had just gotten to San Francisco and I was starting. I would have eaten the whole thing and been satisfied but there were two of us and the other one didn't want to let me eat a whole pizza, so we got pasta. I'm sure the pizza was amazing but the pasta was the right choice. I had the Rigatoncini al Bolognese. The pasta was the perfect al dente and the sauce was delicious. I got sick from the pizza!!!! I have ordered the Margherita before and thought it was super solid. It is my go to -- I do not order anyhting else. I've taken friends, my mom, and my boyfriend. Last week, I called to place an order for 2 Margherita pizzas extra crispy for pick up in 40 minutes. The manager on the phone taking my order sounded like he did not know what was on their menu. On the online order form, it says "Allergies....nightshade." I asked what that was and he was telling me about people who are sensitive to the sun and get cold. I was insanely confused at how this is an allergy that comes from this pizza. I directed him to where it says this on the menu and he said something along the lines of "oh ok let me gooogle it." I was just curious you know because I have never seen this allergy before. This interaction showed me that this Fiorella location does not know and does not have proper training on allergies. Anyway, I decided ok let me place my order I have had it before so I should be good. Me and my bf ate the pizzas all good. It came with some chilli oil and parmesan on the side. Nice and toasty, nothing tasted off. Cool. LATER THAT NIGHT, me and my boyfriend felt super sick and bloated. We did not eat the same thing for breakfast or lunch (I did not have lunch). The only common thing we had was the Margherita pizaas from Fiorella on Polk. We were bloated, felt sick, and regretted eating that pizza. This restaurant is an italian restaurant with prices and a menu that makes customers assume they are on the more knowledgeable, specialized, and high quality side. This is not a fast food chain pizza place. For the price and ambiance we expect a level of service, knowledge, specialty, and FOOD QUALITY WE DID NOT RECEVIE. read more

Really pleasantly surprised by this place! This is the only Fiorella location I've been to, and happened to be looking for a vegetarian-friendly place in Russian Hill with a group of 6 friends. This ended up being a hit. We got 3 pizza pies - a margharita pizza, summer squash pizza, and a salcissia pie. Each one had a nice crispy, smoky crust. The summer squash was really unique and fresh-tasting, margharita was nice and saucy and melt-in-mouth. Also got some corn arancini to split (really nice and creamy) and loved the peach and burrata salad. My favorite was the vodka pasta -- it was creamy without being overbearing. Appetizers: - Arancini's are nice and crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside, the sauce goes super well with it! - Whipped ricotta crostino was excellent! The radiatore pasta shape (like a radiator) holds the delicious sauce extremely well, very pleased with this one! Pizza: puffy/airy crusts, thin, neopolitan-style - Carbonara pie was my standout, very unique and not overly heavy despite the rich ingredients. The runny egg yolk on top was delightful, guanciale is of course always delicious, goes very well with the pecorino. - Burrata pie was delicious, an upgrade to the margherita but very similar in taste overall...both very good - Salsiccia pie was super interesting. The house-made sausages are seasoned super well, taste really fresh. The Calabrian chili sauce adds the perfect acidity to cut through the richness of the sausage and cheese...very well put together dish! - funghi pie was pretty decent, wouldn't order again though knowing the other options on the menu Great spot, and not overly expensive for San Francisco! Such good food! We ordered the Salsiccia Pie and Vodka Diavolo and both were solid options. The Salsiccia Pie was a new interesting combo for me but they all blended well. The Vodka Diavolo will also be a repeat in the future - the pasta was perfectly cooked and there was a generous amount of sauce on the dish without drowning out the pasta. -1 star bc we had a massive tomato in our dish (probably got missed while blending the sauce). It was incredibly salty and kinda threw off the rest of the dish. I guess the silver lining is now I can verify they use whole tomatoes to make the sauce lol. Fiorella has been on the list for awhile, and when we were looking for a impromptu date night spot for dinner, we finally checked it off the list because we were able to get a last minute reservation. Since it was our first time here, we decided to try a few things.... We started off with their herbed chicken wings, which came with a side of ranch but we ended up asking for a side of their peppercorn aioli, and found that to be a favorite dipping sauce. The wings were cooked perfectly, slight crunch, juicy, and had great flavor. Probably my favorite part of the meal. For pizza, we got a Margherita pie with extra cheese. The extra cheese is the move because most pies like this are more sauce heavy, and we love our cheese. I'll admit, neopolitan style pizza is my least favorite pizza style, but this was one of the better ones I've had. If you like this style, they do it really well. For pasta, we got the cacio e pepe. The noddles were al dente just like them but I thought the dish itself was alright. I think a little extra pepper would've helped. The portion size is on the smaller side but it was great for sharing with the other dishes we ordered. Overall, glad we tried it, would definitely come back for the wings alone. read more

Great addition to Polk Gulch! Located blocks from Seven Hills, we enjoyed Fiorella. It seems like a less pretentious but more Bay Area (see the wallpaper inside) Italian gem. I loved theOctopus squid ink pasta and my boyfriend devoured his Salsiccia Pie. I thought the Aperol spritz was strong. They didn't give much wine in a glass. Service was very good. Came here for neighborhood appreciation night! Simply can't beat their special menu prices especially when factoring in the ambiance. Great spot, the separate menu of $10 pizza/pasta options had enough to keep us happy and satisfied. Ended up ordering the pizza app salad, two pasta and a pizza. Everything was solid! Good portions, good flavor - the vodka pasta was the best. It didn't blow me away flavor wise but we didn't splurge for their more special items on the full menu and I'm vegetarian so take it with a grain of lettuce. One of the best deals of SF! It's not widely publicized on their website - but the last Monday of every month is their neighborhood appreciation day - where you can get mains and drinks for $10 each! We've been 2 times now and it's been excellent food for value. We especially like their vodka pasta and all of the pizzas. One of my friends made a reservation last minute which was honestly the move because it was BUMPING. There's a specific happy hour / neighborhood menu where the pizza's and pastas are $10 and we also had a deal with InKind which gave us $25 off the meal. I love a great deal tbh. We got the meatballs and the arancini for the appetizers which were really good and came out quickly. We then both got the pasta (I don't remember) which one it was and then we got two pizzas. One of the pasta options was the cacio e pepe. Overall, the food was pretty good but the I'd say the appetizers were the star here. The pizza here is always just fine and I just want pizza that has a thicker crust... something about SF pizza places love to make a burnt crust. This is the third Fiorella we have been to. They all offer a very comparable if not identical menu why change it if it works. At this Fiorella we got a margarita pizza and a bottle of wine. Again don't fix it if it's not broken. The service Was top-notch. Fast friendly and even funny. Fero just recently opened a new location on 24th St. Looking forward to checking it out. We mostly go to the Farella on ninth Avenue near Golden Gate Park. It's a great location and again top-notch service and food. All locations are nice. But the one on ninth Avenue has a nice fireplace. Protip, eating at the bar is fast and always great service. read more

Wow!! I absolutely love all the Fiorella locations in the city. The Polk location is definitely a little more packed and has a younger crowd. We had a reservation on the last Monday night for the Neighborhood Appreciation Night and it was as good as always. The service was super quick and our waiter was very kind and made great conversation. We got the vodka pasta, marinara pizza, and margherita pizza. Note that they don't allow substitutions on this specific night, and their menu is rightfully limited, so make sure you are able to enjoy their menu! The food is fantastic and not overly filling. The vodka pasta is perfectly flavorful and al dente. The marinara and margherita pizzas have different pizza sauce bases and both are good. The marinara comes with garlic slices and is absolutely elevated if you add chili oil. The margherita pizza is a classic and you can taste that fresh basil. Love all the food and atmosphere! Radiatore alla Vodka Diavola is all I gotta say. Since I came with a party of 4 total, I really had to hold myself back from not devouring this dish. It still lives in my brain rent free. In fact, we made plans to return two months out to come back. I was gung-ho, mainly for that dish! The sauce was slightly sweet and the pasta had several layers of texture which made each bite an explosion of flavor. Did I just write two whole paragraphs about the Radiatore alla Vodka Diavola? Yes, I'm obsessed!! Another dish that I liked was a seasonal pizza with corn. Everything else for me was fine and the table enjoyed it.
