    Chicken skins!
    J B.

Fiorella's is one of those spots I don't really dine in but I order over the phone and I pick up. My favorite thing to order is the chicken skins. It's around $6 and it's perfect and I recommend getting a side of ranch. They're crispy Always hot and seasoned just right. They have tables and chairs It's not a lot of Glam because they're known for throwing down in the kitchen so you're there to eat and it's comfortable to do that. I like the fact that I can call in my order and pick it up within 15 minutes and it's always consistently hot and delicious. I recommend if you get opportunity to go in and try this restaurant. They're known for that fried Chicken and just the skin alone is delicious so the rest of the chicken can't be that far off lol.

Great food, friendly atmosphere. Fried chicken here is excellent, but the Stromboli sandwich is everything I want on a pizza stacked in every bite (without the repurcussions of a heavy red sauce.)

I was in the mood for some fried chicken for lunch. The Mrs Yelped and came up with Fiorella's. It had excellent reviews of the fried chicken. We took the local bus and a hour later we were dropped off 100 feet from the front doors of Fiorella's. The building and interior had the "past the prime" and old school diner look and vibe. However the shack was clean and the AC was cool. The shack was packed. The ordering line was long, but we had a friendly coversation with a couple in front of us. Next thing you know, it wss time to order. Mrs. continued her fascination with poboy and ordered the fully dressed catfish version. I came for fried chicken and ordered the 4 pieces plate with side of French fries and green beans. I also stuck up a friendly coversation about muffuletta with the counter lady while ordering and paying. It took a while for our food to come up, because the chicken pieces were fried fresh. So we continued our conversation with the same couple because they sat at the table next to us. The couple ordered the Wednesday special of meatloaf plate and it looked delicious. Finally, our foods arrived. Mrs said the catfish was fried and seasoned perfectly. However, she said the catfish fillet was skinny. The French bread was good. My fried chicken plate had a wing, drumstick, breast, and thigh. The skin was crispy and seasoned well. The meat was moist and had a lovely spicy kick. Mrs commandeered the thigh and she loved it. The fries were good, but the green beans were from the can type. The owner's wife dropped by our table to check on us. We ended up having a conversation about the shacks fried foods and muffuletta. One of our goal was to fly home with a whole muffuletta from Central Market for our youngest daughter. The counter lady and owner's wife had hyped up Fiorella's muffuletta so much, we decided to buy two whole muffulettas to take home. No more Central Market muffuletta for the trip home. We brought extra one to fly home for us. Before leaving, the couple next to us, highly recommended the meatloaf. Since our hotel has an in room microwave, we decided to ordered meatloaf plate with side salad and mashed potato to go for our dinner. The meatloaf was very meaty and tasted delicious with the brown gravy. The sides tasted good as well. After we got home to Houston, youngest daughter, Mrs, and I had our first look of the muffuletta. The muffuletta was big. The cold cuts, olive salad, cheese, and bread ratio looked appropriate. We air fried it just a touch to melt the cheese and crust up the bread. The muffuletta was delicious. Personally, I liked to have a little more olive salad. We were glad we brought the muffuletta hype of Fiorella's employees and owner. We had Central Market's muffuletta before, Fiorella's was just as tasty and was $10 cheaper. Our lunch at Fiorella's was one of the most pleasant and enjoyable experiences ever. Mrs and I had good foods and unxepected but wonderful conversations with the local folks.

Little divey restaurant known for its fried chicken which is excellent. Po' boys terrific. Daily specials. Very casual. Noisy. Friendly staff. Popular for lunch. Serves beer and wine. A real Nola type of joint.

Just stick to the chicken. While I've only been here once before having chicken that was great...this time not so much. I fought with myself about whether I wanted to cook after work or not and my don't cook thoughts won...fiorella's is on the way home so I figured I'd stop. Parking is right off the street in front of the building, there aren't very many spaces. I went in wanting chicken but got the hamburger steak instead. I should've gone with my first mind especially after neither of the staff members I spoke to had ever tried it. Sat to eat and wasn't impressed. It could've been seasoned much better and the gravy didn't seem very gravy like. The most interesting part was the glass bottled dr. pepper that I'd never seen any where else before. Next time I stop by, it'll just be chicken for me.

I'm going around and cross town finding good fried chicken spots to try. The fried chicken there was definitely excellent to be in my top 3 for fried chicken. Cooked to perfection and will visit again.

I enjoyed the great fried chicken at Fiorella's in the French Quarter for many years and I'm glad that we now have the original family involved again making that great chicken at their new location in Gentilly. The Fiorella fried chicken is legendary and it has been ranked by many as some of the best New Orleans style fried chicken in the city. Fiorella's also has great Italian food options so you have a lot of great choices here. I've eaten here several times now and I've enjoyed all of my food and I certainly will be making many return visits. My video review of Fiorella's is here: https://youtu.be/SXTJhJQJtfc

Ruined our lunch!! This is absolutely unacceptable. Placed a phone order, picked up our food which was already packed to go and this is what we saw when we opened the container. If these containers aren't suitable for the dish consider changing your packaging instead sending customers home with their food like this. And even worse, it wasn't very good. This was my first time ordering this dish and definitely my last.

Four piece fried chicken plate with mashed potatoes, gravy, turnip greens. Also had a grilled shrimp salad.

My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!

We were seated in the upstairs area and tried some of their drinks. We got the Brandy Crusta which is their most popular drink and the Pouvez-Vous Poulet which is a seasonal cocktail. The Brandy Crusta has the cup dipped in sugar with a fairly strong cocktail within. Definitely get this when you are here as that is one of the best Brandy Crustas and is historical. The Pouvez-Vous Poulet is a duck fat washed rum cocktail and is also very delicious. You cannot really go wrong with any cocktail, but definitely order the Brandy Crusta for the true experience here. Though, honestly, while the cocktails are good, it was not as memorable as the other Top 50 Best Bars in the World that I have been to, but I won't dock a star off because of this, since the cocktails and overall experience otherwise were fantastic. Service is good but can be a bit slow, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for a more quiet ambience compared to downstairs.

Though pop-up showers were still lingering, my husband and I decided to take a gamble on courtyard dining--and I am so glad we did! Sheltered under the green umbrellas surrounded by historic brick walls, lush greenery, and rain-kissed citrus trees, the atmosphere was incredibly romantic and peaceful. The courtyard's intimate layout even brought a bit of extra magic to our evening. We sat near another wonderful couple (and their adorable daughter) and became fast friends, sharing laughs and conversation throughout the night. What truly anchored the experience, though, was the incredible service. The staff was remarkably personable, helpful, and welcoming. The dinner itself was excellent from start to finish, showcasing immense culinary skill across every dish. We started with the delicious brussels sprouts and a uniquely seasoned spring/summer gumbo that was unlike any version we've had before (oh, what I would give for the recipe). As for the entrées, the shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and the blackened catfish sandwich with a fresh salad was executed flawlessly...and the bread pudding was fantastic, too! It is rare to find an experience where top-tier hospitality, a breathtaking environment, and great food come together so (seemingly) effortlessly. Café Amélie is an absolute must-visit! We will be back.

Rich, layered, and well-balanced with fresh elements that worked together on the plate. For entrées, we had a variety of cuts, including the Australian Wagyu, ribeye, butcher's cut, and lamb chops. The Wagyu stood out immediately. High quality, great sear, and finished tableside, which added to the overall experience without taking away from the food itself. Each steak was cooked precisely to temperature and full of flavor. The lamb chops paired with carrots and brussels were well executed and balanced. The sides complemented the meal well and did not feel like afterthoughts. You can also see their in-house dry aging setup, which speaks to the level of detail they put into their steak program. It shows in the final product. The drinks were solid across the board. The Old Fashioned and bourbon selections paired well with the meal and matched the food's quality. Service by Noelle was attentive and responsive throughout the night. Everything flowed well, and we were taken care of without feeling rushed or hovered over. This is not a casual dinner spot, but for a celebration or a night where you want a full experience, Doris Metropolitan absolutely delivers.

It started the moment we walked in. Glancing at the hostess, asking "OK to sit at the bar?", getting a nod, sitting down. An experience we've done in hundreds of restaurants. (We had reservations for a table but often prefer the bar.) The bartender -- whom we believe was named Mike -- started off his interaction with new customers as follows. "Did you check with the hostess?" I nodded in the affirmative, apparently that wasn't enough. "Check with the hostess", he ordered. I got up, went over the hostess stand, and confirmed, this time so "Mike" could see, that it was OK for us to sit at a half-empty bar. (In retrospect, we should have gotten up and walked out immediately, but it was late and even in the Quarter most places were closing for dinner.) You see, Mike clearly didn't want to be working that night. He was rude, inattentive, and condescending. And not just to us, to everyone seated at the bar. Slow making drinks, slow asking for orders, seething contempt for his customers. One time we asked to see a drink menu to decide on a new drink, he said, and this is a direct quote, "Do you want to see it or do you want to review it?" Mike's behavior was clearly well-known to the staff, because another staff member, who was off-shift and next to us at the bar, witnessed this behavior and arranged for a free dessert on the house (classy move on her part). She confided in us that Mike's pretty much always like that, but that he's a buddy of the general manager so seemingly un-fireable. Well, here's hoping someone reads this and thinks the better of Doris Metropolitan, or at least sitting at the bar. Unless you think service you'd get in a Paris tourist trap cafe is appropriate for a high-end steakhouse, you're better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.

From the moment we sat down, the staff set the tone--professional, genuinely friendly, and impressively efficient. We began with a trio of starters that showcased both richness and restraint. The foie gras torchon was silky and indulgent, perfectly complemented by fruit confiture and warm, toasted Bellegarde Bakery bread--a classic pairing done right. Marinated crab claws, dressed in a lively chili vinaigrette, delivered a bright, briny punch, while the pickled pineapple and jalapeño chips added just the right balance of sweetness and heat. A cucumber salad rounded out the starters, crisp and refreshing, acting as a welcome palate reset before the mains. For entrées, comfort and finesse shared the plate. The confit chicken thighs were meltingly tender, paired with ham-braised greens swimming in a tangy apple cider vinegar broth. A lovely Dijon cream tied everything together, adding richness without overwhelming the dish. Equally memorable was the half smoked duck, beautifully executed and deeply flavorful, served over a smooth pumpkin-sweet potato purée. The cherry bourbon glaze brought a subtle sweetness, while the pepitas added texture and a nutty finish. Dessert was the perfect exclamation point on an already wonderful meal: a slice of hot chocolate cheesecake, decadent and deeply chocolaty, crowned with toasted marshmallow fluff that leaned just enough into nostalgia without crossing into excess. Toups Meatery continues to deliver thoughtful, soulful cooking with polish and heart--comfort food elevated, served by a team that clearly knows what they're doing. The service was fantastic with the hostess seating us for our reservation right away and the waiter being incredibly patient and helpful during our dinner. We had someone in our party love the playlist here so much they asked the bartender for it as well. The menu is bold and complex but they were happy to strip it back to basics if needed. It was extremely cold in the restaurant though, so make sure to dress warm, especially in the colder months. We ordered their cast iron cornbread, chicken sandwich (no pickles or hot sauce), and their special of the night which was a pork-veal mix sausage on a milk bread bun and topped with sauerkraut. The cornbread was dry but the flavor was good. The butter they gave with it had cajun spices infused and gave it a nice zip although it was a bit too salty. Their fried chicken sandwich was delicious, light and crispy with salty shoestring fries that hit the mark. Lastly, their house special of the sausage was great. The sausage itself was well seasoned and the bun was soft and sweet. It was a bit salty with the added sauerkraut but the mix of flavors was still delicious. We also ordered a drink, just erotic not kinky, which was delicious. It's a bourbon with blackberry and lemon juice that was strong and refreshing at the same time. Sylvain is a culinary delight surrounded by an area that demands it. The food could be a tick better but it is still very, very good with fantastic service to bolster it. Whether you want a casual dinner or to drink cocktails in the French Quarter, this is a spot that is worth a look and your money, especially if you're with a big party.
