I had their lasagna and it was very unique, it wasn't your traditional lasagna as the pasta noodles were green and it had some other unique flavors going on but we liked it. AMBIANCE: The perfect ambience really. I can't stand going to a restaurant for dinner and it is bright lighting but this was absolutely perfect. Not too light and not dark. The perfect in between. Music was nice and appropriate and the interior decor was very upscale. Like if I was to ever to open a restaurant this decor would be my inspiration. Service didn't disappoint on par of what i was expecting. The food was a mixed bag of good or bad. The bad, pizza and speghetti . My 7 year old had one piece and didn't want to eat it. Just cheese pizza. Of course we already ordered one for us and yea agree. No sauce, super thin crust and just a lack of good pizza flavor. Had the white and added prosciutto. Won't be going for pizza here. Speghetti also had an odd flavor which the kids not I enjoyed. Kind of like vinegar. The tagliatelle though was amazing. The sauce was spot on just a little too frugal with it. The truffle was a great mix and just the whole dish was a balance of savory umami. Would love to see a protein with it though. The good : the place has a great vibe. Sound level good it is nice to go to a restaurant where I can hear. The design is wonderful. The wait staff was right there no wait for drink orders or placing order for dinner. We were going to the theater across the street very convenient to park, eat and walk across the street good location. The mediocre : The food choices we made. Since it is Lent we chose to eat seafood no meat. The black squid's ink was fishy tasting and flat. You may get a tablespoon of lump crab. I did dip my pizza crust into the sauce to finish the dish. Chile oil on table was wonderful. We ordered a margarita pizza , I found the cheese chewy and cold. The tomato sauce was a bit on the acidic side and for me could have been cooked to a mellower flavor. I am not going to lie there are far better cheaper places to get much better pies. The dessert. The cannolis were a disappointment. I even ask the girl to let the chef know the skins were tuff. Hard time breaking them apart with the spoon we were given. Having eaten at this restaurant many times over many years, as a local, I've sat at the bar and I've sat in groups at the dinner table. The service is always excellent and last night was no exception, or maybe it was an exception because our service was outstanding. Leah was our server and she was just absolutely phenomenal. Two of the members of my dinner party actually recommended that she should be training other servers because of her professional demeanor. Everybody enjoyed their food. I had a special dinner here to conclude a group trip to New Orleans and it was a fantastic dinning experience. Let me start by saying that I'm not a big Italian food person. Mostly since there aren't usually a lot of vegan options, but there were enough here that I had options! I ended up having the rigatoni without cheese and although it's simple, it was delicious and quite similar to pasta that I had in Florence, Italy! It paired nicely with the French Pinot noir we had for the table. Our server was so classy and attentive and made sure everything was perfect. We always had fresh water and he poured the wine for us. He even surprised the birthday girl with a delicious dessert! The ambiance is one of the best parts too. It's beautifully decorated with dim lights, art and a super fancy bathroom. The ambiance of this restaurant is beautiful. I try to make it a point to go during the holidays because of the beautiful display in the connected Roosevelt hotel. The happy hour is the time to go. Really great upscale Italian restaurant in downtown New Orleans. It's located adjacent to the Roosevelt hotel. Great spot for a girls dinner or a date night. Because it's busy, I will say our service was a bit slow at first. However, once we ordered the food came out relatively quickly! I loved the cocktail I ordered, and the whole table loved the roasted cauliflower and whipped feta appetizer. I had the tagliatelle for my entree and it was amazing as well. I stopped in while I was in town for Jazz Fest and needless to say it was very busy. The restaurant is beautiful, elegant and still somewhat casual. I sat at the bar and I believe that they have the friendliest bartender around, really everyone was great and that's a huge compliment considering how slammed he was! I ordered the Squid Ink Tagliolini with the Blue Crab in herb butter sauce and I had an Aperol Spritz. My pasta was delicious the only thing that could've made it better was More. Crab. My wife and I had a date night and decided to eat here since it was near the Orpheum Theater where we were going to see a comedian. We weren't disappointed. We started off with their brussel sprouts. Domenica lives up to the hype. Even though it's technically attached to a hotel (The famous Roosevelt), I don't consider it a hotel restaurant because it's just far better and has a classier more upscale vibe than the typical hotel restaurant. My friends and I came here during the holidays without a reservation on a fairly busy evening and were seated immediately. It took us a while to order but our server was continually attentive until we made up our mind. We ordered a margherita pizza, some Brussels and the squid ink pasta. Everything was great and perfect sizes for sharing amongst the three of us. The pizza was so good- simple ingredients that struck the perfect balance between crispy, saucy cheesy and basil(y). My coworkers and I dined at Domenica on a whim after a late night in the office. We made a quick reservation and were able to be seated right away. I've heard many positive reviews about Domenica so I was excited to dine here! The ambiance of the restaurant is warm, welcoming, and lively - it was packed when we arrived at 8:30 for our reservation. The four of us were seated towards the front of the restaurant near the windows. My first qualm is we were seated at a ridiculously small table. The table could barely accommodate our drinks and bread, and we were literally shuffling things around, balancing plates, and holding things in our hands to place everything on the table. I even used the windowsill to place our drinks so we could make extra room. This was incredibly annoying. Secondly, a pizza was attempted to be delivered to our table and when we told the food runner that the pizza did not belong to us, she argued for a few exchanges and insisted that the pizza should have been ours. Our server, seeing this from a distance, ran over to correct her, and the food runner admitted she looked at the receipt incorrectly. I've never been in a situation where I have been forced to accept something I didn't even order, and that level of back-and-forth was just so unnecessary. Anyway, on to the food! Here's what we ordered: - ROASTED CAULIFLOWER: sea salt, whipped feta - TUTTO CARNE: tomato, mozzarella, spicy salami, bacon, fennel sausage, Chisesi ham - TONNARELLI CACIO E PEPE: pecorino romano, black pepper - LASAGNE: pasta verde, bechamel, mozzarella, pork ragu My colleague who has been here many times raved about two items: the roasted cauliflower and the lasagna. The cauliflower was good but nothing special. I thought the cauliflower + whipped feta turned out to be very salty. Also, at $23 for a head of cauliflower, is it worth it? Absolutely not! The lasagna wasn't great either; the cheese felt too heavy, not enough sauce, and so basically it felt like eating a big blob. The most disappointing dish we ordered was the pizza - the tutto carne was very, very salty and the crust was an absolute miss. It was very wet and soggy on the bottom and felt like it needed to be cooked longer. After a bite or two, I ended up picking at the meat and totally trashed the rest of my one slice- and I HATE wasting food. Quite possibly one of the worst pizzas I've ever had. On the bright side, the one major redeeming factor was our server - she was so lively, perceptive, and full of energy. We enjoyed truly stellar service throughout our meal. I'd probably try Domenica again just to give this famous restaurant another chance but it's definitely not in my top pick! read more

I almost went down to a 3 star because the restaurant was far from packed yet the service was very slow. I finally got the chance to post my review of Domenica. I attended a private birthday dinner at The Cellar an exclusive dining space you can only access by walking through the kitchen. It's such a luxurious and unforgettable experience. Every time you enter, the entire kitchen bursts into applause, making you feel like the guest of honor. If you're looking for somewhere to celebrate privately, The Cellar is perfect. We wanted something different after eating fried shrimp and gumbo for the last couple days, so we reserved Domenica which was a 5 minute walk from the Ritz where we stayed. The first thing we tried was the unique Brussels sprouts with house cured pancetta, cane mignonette and feta cheese. My wife had traditional spaghetti and bolognese sauce while I ordered the Agnolotti made with local Louisiana shrimp, hand stuffed with Calabrian chili and the sauce was light and buttery.
