My friend suggested this place for dinner and we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, the restaurant was valet only, which was honestly frustrating since the parking lot was located right next to the building. Luckily, because we had reservations, we were seated right away, and the restaurant itself was relatively empty aside from a few tables. The décor was filled with greenery, creating a lovely and pleasant atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly throughout our meal. To start, my two friends and I shared the Burrata Fritta, which is fried burrata served in pomodoro sauce. The burrata was fried perfectly with a crispy exterior and the sauce had a strong basil flavor. I personally enjoyed the basil, but I could see how it might be too strong for some people. While it was a really solid appetizer, I think it works best as an individual portion rather than something to split. For my main course, I ordered the Carbonara. The pasta was rich, creamy, and definitely on the heavier side, which made it warm and comforting. However, the amount of Pecorino Romano was overwhelming and ended up overpowering the entire dish. All I could taste was the cheese, while the flavors of the guanciale and black pepper were barely noticeable. Overall, the restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service, but the food did not quite live up to expectations. While the Burrata Fritta stood out, the Carbonara fell flat for me. I would not rush back, but I could see this being a nice spot for someone who enjoys bold basil flavors and very cheesy pasta. read more

We were greeted so politely by the host and walked into the sound of live music. It was a cute touch, though a little loud--we definitely had to raise our voices to hear each other. We started with the burrata fritta, which was basically a fancy cheese stick... and I'm not mad about it lol. Then we shared the cacio e pepe, and it was exactly how it should be--peppery, creamy, and simple in the best way. I really appreciated that they split the dish for us and plated it so nicely without us even asking. We also shared the crispy fried lamb chops. First of all, I didn't even know that was a thing?! My boyfriend and I have a special place in our heart for this place, as we had dinner there on the night we made our relationship official, and now spend every anniversary there. It's a beautiful spot, a bungalow in Montrose with fresh flowers and colorful art. Every time we go, the fried burrata is a must for us, but we love everything else we get there as well. Some favorites for us across the years have been the pesto pasta, octopus, and the potato side as well. My boyfriend loves to finish his meal with an affogato and I love the tiramisu as well. First time at this charming Montrose eatery... from greeting to goodbye, service was warm, welcoming, and attentive. My server was efficient and very friendly, and she timed each dish's arrival perfectly. The restaurant's decor is a clean, comfortable cottage chic, featuring inviting lighting and large picture windows. The ambiance alone warrants a return visit. I opted for the tasting menu and was pleased for the most part. The crostini was truly the perfect appetizer bite: crisp sourdough, creamy mozzarella, and a really good quality prosciutto. The Amatriciana pasta dish quelled my craving for zesty, comforting carbs. What should have been the highlight of the meal was the one disappointment... the ribeye. The meat's flavor was pretty good, but texturally, it was odd... a tad rubbery. Also, the mass of shoestring potatoes as the starch had me scratching my head. This was our first time visiting, and while the atmosphere seemed nice, the experience left a lot to be desired. My dish came out with gluten-free noodles that were only halfway cooked, and some were still crunchy. Service was also slow. Some of our team has been to Italy/Rome and said it was just as good and possibly better than what they'd eaten there. UPDATE ON 05/14/2025: THE HOUSTON HEALTH DEPARTMENT CONDUCTED AN INVESTIGATION, AND THE FINDINGS ARE NOW ATTACHED AS WELL! On Sunday, May 11, 2025, our family of 14 adults & 6 underage kids went to eat at FIORI Restaurant for my mother's birthday. Since then, 11 of us (6 adults & 5 kids; youngest being 1 year old) now have food poisoning symptoms (projectile vomiting, chills, muscle pain, fever, & diarrhea). Some started noticing symptoms immediately, and some developed overnight between Sunday and Monday. We tried contacting the restaurant immediately (Sunday night), but the owner, Chef Alessio Vitale, refused to speak to us; their "excuse" was that he had already left the restaurant. It wasn't until Monday, May 12th at 2:28 PM that we finally received a generic reply from him, taking NO responsibility whatsoever. Our bill totaled a ridiculous almost $1,800, and we are now left dealing with food poisoning, some of us still can't return to work or school, and some now have medical bills from visiting the doctors, which was confirmed as food poisoning by several doctors. Aside from the above, I want to also emphasize how horribly we were treated during our reservation. We made this reservation on April 24, 2025, with ample time for the restaurant to be prepared for our large party. I made this reservation DIRECTLY with the owner to ensure my mother's birthday goes perfectly. Our reservation was set at 3:00 PM, but upon arriving, we had to wait an additional 20 minutes for our table to be set as it was not ready. When we arrived, it was drizzling rain outside, and they proceeded to put our whole family in their upstairs outdoor patio despite the owner assuring me weeks prior that if there was bad weather, they would make sure we would get an inside table. After expressing our concern about being in the drizzling rain with small children and elders, they wanted to place us inside but split our group into different parts of the restaurant. After being out in the rain for about 30 minutes, the weather cleared up and we decided just to keep the table. Our server took about 45 minutes to take our drink orders, yes, our drinks; we received our entree meals 2 hours later. But they did not provide us with silverware or napkins until we requested them repeatedly. We were VERY understanding given the fact that it was Mother's Day but overall, it seemed like they left us outside on purpose with no intention even to bother checking in on us. Our waiter was completely RUDE; We found ourselves asking for the same things repeatedly and at one point she just stopped showing up to our table until we demanded the check. Due to them messing up our orders MULTIPLE times and missing several items they offered us a sorry 10% discount but that obviously just proved that they were neglecting our table, and they were aware of doing it. The 10% discount does NOT justify our food being uncooked, cold and clearly unsafe to eat. Now, two days later, we are dealing with much greater issues with food poisoning in our family. We hope that everyone takes this review seriously, as we don't want anyone else to fall victim to this restaurant's negligence in keeping a safe kitchen & serving completely unsafe food. I have attached SOME of the many evidence we have, as well as a copy of the receipt for proof of our visit. Everything is time-stamped as proof for everyone. As mentioned, our reservation was at 3:00 PM. You can see from the receipt that our order wasn't placed until 4:08 PM, and we did not get the check until 6:26 PM. We were there for a total of almost 4 hours due to poor and slow service...ridiculous! A message to Chef Alessio Vitale; you can try to justify my review just like you try and justify other bad but HONEST reviews but please be reminded that this is a very serious matter that is now being investigated by multiple outlets and we have plenty of evidence proving all of the above. People's health is no joke, especially when it involves small children. Thank you for ruining my very first Mother's Day and my mother's birthday! To Frain Gutierrez, the Valet, thank you for being the ONLY helpful person at this restaurant. Thank you for assisting my 87-year-old grandma up the steps, as no other staff from the restaurant offered to help and thank you for helping me unload our stuff from our car as you saw us struggling with a small child. I really wanted to like this place, which makes this review even more disappointing. I decided to give it a try because it's on Bilt and InKind, but I wish I had trusted the reviews I read beforehand. I thought maybe they had improved their customer service over time. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The biggest issue is that they simply don't have enough staff. Please hire a bartender. Expecting the servers to manage the bar and their tables is completely unreasonable. The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of less is because our waitress was incredibly kind. She wasn't quick, but that's not her fault given how much she had to handle. The food, sadly, was very underwhelming. The fried burrata at $20 felt outrageous. it's the same price as an entrée for what amounts to a piece of fried cheese. My carbonara was just okay, and while the spinach ravioli was the best dish we tried, it desperately needed salt. Overall, the food was bland and unimpressive. If you're going here, go for the aesthetics. The place is undeniably pretty, which makes it a good spot for influencers. But don't go expecting good food. And on top of everything, valet parking was $10. I've been to Michelin-starred restaurants down the block where valet was complimentary. I was here for an engagement dinner and by the end of the night felt like we were friends with the staff and the chef. Everybody was so attentive and nice. The restaurant itself is very clean and charming and overlooks Montrose. They have a patio right by the sidewalk and there is an upstairs area which I assume is for larger parties. Of course, their food and drinks are great too. I had the Salmon which was cooked perfectly and much better than the salmon I've been cooking up on the old air fryer at home! Seriously though, some people judge a restaurant by their steaks but I think cooking salmon perfectly is a whole other level of talent. Parking kind of sucked on a Saturday night but I saw there was valet and apparently the Chase lot is open for use as well, but might want to double check. Very quaint spot. The atmosphere is so lovely and bright. We're here to celebrate by daughter becoming a PhD!! and she knew I love quaint spots and love an early dinner. The waitstaff was very nice and inviting. The cuisine on the other hand, was just ok unfortunately. I like the lasagna, but the risotto was too al dente, My daughter is a vegetarian and always orders risotto, so she knows this dish very well. We sent it back to be cooked more and it just wasn't good. The flavor was bad and It looked like rice pudding. They made her eggplant lasagna and she didn't like it really, but we gladly paid our tab, but won't be returning. We came to Fiori for a cute date night and it did not disappoint! The flowers lining the walls of the shop were gorgeous and fragrant, and there's personal hand written signs throughout the restaurant that make it feel so cozy. The service here is stellar, both the hostess and the waiter were so sweet and helpful, we couldn't ask for better service. I got an Amaretto Margarita and my fiance got an Old Fashioned. While he was enjoying his drink, the waiter came and gave him another one on the house! We were lucky to come in during Restaurant Week and got to try so many amazing dishes for an affordable price. I have to start with the fact that the best thing bout this visit was the live music. Unfortunately, the food is decent but I will never go back to Fiori. The problem I believe it stems from the top by managers not training servers to treat customers equally. It was clear to me that Hispanic costumers were not treated equally as the white customers. When we went to eat at noon for what was supposed to be a special day for my daughter's birthday and my mother and wife's mother's day celebration, the manager was able to make his way around the tables and even help serve but not once did he approach our table. Service was very slow and in two occasions they forgot our drink order. Also my daughter's food came way after they had served our meal. Servers need to know that it does not matter if we are Hispanic, white or black, we will tip for good service but when you receive terrible service your tip will be accordingly. As I tell my staff, it does not matter how good of a doctor I am if patients are not treated right from the beginning, patients will not return. The only reason we went to Fiori's was because my daughter really likes the food but I'm sure we can find another restaurant that will provide better service with quality food. read more

My husband and I were craving Italian and stumbled upon this place via yelp. We made a reservation (highly recommended as the place was packed). Located off of busy montrose, but parking was easy with valet. The restaurant runs lean on staffing, so be patient with the team as they are all running around to keep up. The restaurant is very small 2 story old house that has been converted to an open floor plan restaurant, decorated cute, but the noise can get loud at times. We decided to do one tasting experience to try different options, and one Houston restaurant week menu. Note: portions were all very large considering the price, which was very unexpected. We started with bruschetta and burrata. Burrata was delicious... lightly fried warm cheese smothered in pomodoro sauce. Bruschetta was bread loaded with lots of fresh tomatoes. The bread was alittle tough, but overall, good flavor. Next we had the risotto and Cacio e Pepe. The risotto was delicious with a little spice to it. My husband devoured it quickly. My Cacio d Pepe was different than expected from other versions I have had as it was covered in very thick cheese and almost dry. Very rich flavor, alittle too rich for me. Next we had the grilled octopus and ribeye. Octopus was cooked perfect with a rich pesto sauce. Ribeye was pan fried with Italian seasonings and steamed asparagus. We finished the meal with the chocolate cake which was very thick and rich, almost like a fudge, topped with vanilla gelato. Came here for a baby shower and was had high hopes it was going to be a hit since I was recommended by a good friend, but was let down immensely. We came with a party of 11. I made our reservation 2 months in advance. Initially everything was smooth making the reservation. I requested for a floral arrangement and I was told that their floral lady no longer works there or is contracted there. No biggie, they said they were still able to accommodate my floral arrangement, sweet! Upon arrival, our table was set up but my floral arrangement for the table was not set up. I asked the server, who by the way was the only server there on a weekday said he did not know of any floral arrangements for the table. He went to the back and found 1 floral arrangement wrapped in the fridge. He began to state that he did not know how to set up a table arrangement and that he would try his best. It was a kind gesture and he also said he would comp the arrangement. He also stated that I could talk to the manager but the manager did not speak a word to me and did not make any eye contact. The server even said "I don't know why he's not talking to you and just talking to me". It was the most sexist and narcissistic interaction I've ever faced. My first thought coming into Fiori was how pretty the restaurant was. The flowers and lighting with all of the windows make the restaurant super open and homey. That coupled with the music makes the restaurant a very intimate and comfortable place. The upstairs has a similar feel to it, but matches more of a vibe for a date night dinner. They also have a pretty patio that you can eat out on, but the view just looks out toward the street so it's not that special. The staff was super friendly and easy to make conversation with. (especially coming from Gatsbys next door who was very dismissive towards it's guests) We tried the limoncello flight, which included a plain limoncello shot, a tequila version, and the bartenders own creation, a gingercello which was super delicious. As we ordered drinks, they also provided us with some complimentary bread which was very thoughtful and surprised us. We also had dinner plans for after, but we happily ended up pushing it back because we were having such a nice time at Fiori. We also ended up trying some other drinks and a mini charcuterie board, all very delicious. The food and drinks hold up on their own, but it's really the service we received which wow-ed us. It's very cute and will definitely look great in your photos. The flowers are great. The location too is very cool. Parking is kind of an issue, but thankfully we were able to walk over. They had a very thinly sliced butter bread for us to start off with at the table and I thought it was unique and great. Our appetizer was these small ricotta balls. They were good, but I was hoping for a little more for the price. My wife ordered the fettuccine Al pesto. I thought it was pretty good but my wife didn't love it. The pesto was clearly made in house and I thought it was decent. I ordered the pasta carbonara. While I didn't love it, I did get it made vegetarian. I'll hold off on being too judgmental considering I changed the dish. For the price I would hope to be blown away by my experience and I just didn't feel that way about this place. The service was a little below what I would expect. Our waitress was pleasant but just wasn't as responsive to getting us what we needed. I had to ask 2 people and wait a long time to get crushed red pepper flakes. Our waitresses packed up our to go box but then didn't bring us our check. Again, I didn't have a bad experience, but it wasn't to the level I think it should have been at. They looked short staffed and the people they did have seemed a little inexperienced to be working at a nice place like this. We did have trouble finding parking though. There was no obvious place to park so had to park in the neighborhood and walk over. I am dying to give this restaurant 5 stars, but I just cannot as it would be unfair to other restaurants that check every box and have earned that rating. This restaurant has all of the fundamentals in place to truly be a great Houston staple/headline restaurant from the food, the historic location in Montrose, the massive Oak trees that surround the building, and the beautifully decorated interior. I would describe this restaurant as the Italian BCN. AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: 1. What separates other great restaurants from Fiori, the vibe. The vibe is the final key and essential ingredient to creating the experience that leaves lasting impressions on the patron. I would highly recommend that Fiori enforces some sort of a dress code. You have a beautiful restaurant, and I believe it is fair that you uphold the patrons dining within to some sort of minimum dress standard. When I dined last night I noticed many patrons in casual business attire for the most part; and then you had one guy with an Affliction t-shirt on, and another guy with an Astros jersey and hat on. There is a time and place to wear a t-shirt, or an Astros jersey and hat; and you should make dining in your restaurant not one of them. By upholding a dress code, it keeps the experience special for all the other patrons who have dressed up nicely to celebrate an occasion. 2. The waiting staff. Our waiter last night in all fairness was not terrible, he just seemed exhausted and was not all too excited to be there. When you dine at great restaurants the waiting staff is excited to welcome you to their establishment and review the menu; which I experienced non of this. Additionally, you have your waiting staff in white t-shirts and aprons on. Your waiting staff is not working in the kitchen, why do they need to have aprons on, and why not have them wear something a bit nicer than a plain white t-shirt (perhaps some sort of collar shirt). You are trying to set the tone, this is your restaurant, so you have to make this initial investment in your staff. Food Review: 1. Overall the food was great. I will say that I truly appreciated that Firori has artichoke on the menu, which took me back to Europe. However I would have appreciated if that artichoke was served warmer, as it seemed like you must have steamed a bunch of them during your prep, and just pulled directly out of the cold storage to plate (maybe a quick flash on the grill could do the trick). 2. I cannot stand when you purchase a bottle of wine, and it is served at 80 degrees. I cannot think of anyone that wants to drink wine that is room temperature (even warmer because it's by a kitchen). I had to ask for an ice bucket for a bottle of RED just to try and get the bottle down to a palatable drinking temperature. 3. I am going to finish on a positive note. I had the Branzino at BCN a few nights prior to ordering it at Fiori. Fiori in my opinion completely mastered the fish, and beat BCN. This restaurant is beautiful! Lots of natural light, flowers, and plants. My friend and I visited for Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW) for lunch. We had a late lunch so essentially we had the downstairs portion to ourselves. Our server was really sweet and kind. The food left more to be desired. There is definitely potential, but the only thing I really enjoyed was the gelato! The gelato was so delicious! I tried the walnut and lemon flavors. I'd return for the gelato and try the hazelnut next time. We tired the artichokes, bruschetta, a pasta, and I had the salmon and salad. They were ok. They also have a coffee shop. Our server was very nice! The space was really cute and our bar drinks were yummy! However, our food was just ok. We got the scallop risotto, fried ricotta and the bruschetta. The scallops themselves and the fried ricotta, I mean who doesn't love friend cheese, were good but the risotto and bruschetta were bland. I went here for my birthday brunch. The food was delicious and the service was great. Very nice environment and aesthetically pleasing. I would definitely go back. But I would not go with a group again. If you're like me and have different friend groups who like to try new places, this can be challenging because they only split the check evenly. And that's difficult for people who don't know each other. My one friend got dessert, she said it was a delicious tiramisu but she ended up paying $84 for it because of their check policy. So it is not ideal for groups of people who are not close friends or family. I thing or at least I would not recommend for that. It's important for me if I'm with business associates or colleagues too that we are all able to get a separate receipt for business tracking and tax purposes so be prepared for that if with a group of 4 or more there is also a service charge in addition to an expected gratuity.
