I was heading to Hardees and spotted this gem of a restaurant. I questioned whether to go, but there were a good number of cars so I gave it a chance. I am so glad that I did. Clean, friendly, nicely decorated to feel like a restaurant and not a big box store. Fire grilled chicken was moist and crispy, string beans tasted like home made (note definitely not southern cooked, if you like them cooked forever), Yuca was great and moist in the middle - not dried out. I used to frequent their old location, and am now regularly visiting their new place. Fire & Chicken is a great addition to Ashland food scene as this town is a desert when it comes to non-chain restaurants. F & C offers a variety of items, but honestly, you should just get the chicken with sides or the Peruvian dishes such as lomo saltado. Their quesadilla is pretty bland, so I wouldn't recommend that. As for the side dishes, I really like their fried rice, yuca & plantains. The one time I tried the green beans, they were undercooked. Overall, solid place for a takeout or a quick bite. This place rocks! I used to go there when they were across from Bass Pro. New owners came in and it just wasn't the same. The old owner reopened by himself at a new location in a shopping center off of Washington Highway in Ashland (Ashland-Hanover Shopping Center). It was like finding your old long lost best friend. It was every bit as good as I remembered. The chicken was crisp, juicy and had that incredible Peruvian spice flavor. The yucca fries were perfectly done. The plantains were fully ripe and tasted like desert. I can't wait to go back. If you like Peruvian rotisserie chicken you have to try this place. read more

Don't know what went wrong their food is great but their delivery by Ubereats sucked. I don't drive so ordered for delivery. Specifically instructed to send forks knives straws & napkins and ordered an unsweetened tea. Got straws and a sweet tea. Did not get my dessert. I don't know whether it was restaurant or Uber eats But what should have an enjoyable meal turned into a call the restaurant for resolution - got none try to call the drive in case dessert was in their car - call was blocked then trying to get resolution through Uber app. Finally got a refund for dessert but not for mood ruined. Amazing. Cooked to perfection. Had the family special, fed four adults. They allowed us to substitute the soda for another side which is great because we don't drink soda. The food is simple and outstanding. The portion sizes were huge. My daughters, while not the pickiest of eaters, are typically not big in restaurant food and both exclaimed the chicken to be the best they've ever had. Fire and Chicken is a great place to order from when you are hungry. Their whole chicken dinners are a GREAT bargain! Three large sides with a whole chicken and a 2 liter bottle of soda for under $30. Nice and tasty and a good buy to boot. I love ceviche and theirs is pretty good - not outstanding or elegant, but pretty good. Their Lomo Saltado is terrific! I love the way they serve it over huge, slab French fries (I usually ask for all fries and no white rice, the other usual accompaniment). Their Tallarin Saltado de Pollo is also very good and nicely seasoned. Not spicy enough? Their green sauce has sot plenty of kick and lots of great taste. The growing list of sides includes Peruvian staples like fried yucca and fried plantains (done in longer pieces, not medallions like some Central American places). They have good black beans and the Peruvian-style fried rice is a favorite with us. The Onion Salad is pretty much just onion and not up to the standard of other places, and there is not a drop of Salsa Huancaina to be found (unless it is the mayonnaise-y sauce they serve which has no heat)- odd for a Peruvian place! Can't comment on the tacos, bowls or other items but have not been disappointed yet with our orders. read more
